What is Zinnat and what to use
Zinnat is an antibiotic that is used in adults and children. It works by destroying the bacteria that cause infections. Belongs to a group of medicines called cephalosporins.

 Zinnat is used to treat infections of the:
the throat;
Sinus;
the middle ear;
the lungs or chest;
urinary tract infection;
skin and soft tissue.
Zinnat can also be used for:
treatment of Lyme disease (infection, which is spread by parasites called ticks).

2. What you need to know before accepting a Zinnat
Do not take Zinnat
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to certain cephalosporin antibiotics or any of the other ingredients of the Zinnat
If you have ever had a severe allergic reaction (hypersensitivity reaction) to some other type of beta-lactam antibiotics (Penicillins, carbapenems, and monobaktami).
If you feel this applies to You, don't take the Zinnat until you have consulted with your doctor.

Take special care with Zinnat
Zinnat is not recommended in children under the age of 3 months, since safety and efficacy in this age group are not known.
You need to keep track of some symptoms such as allergic reactions, fungal infections (such as Candida) and severe diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis) while taking.Zinnat This will reduce the risk of possible problems. See "conditions for which you need to track" in point 4.

If you do a blood test
Zinnat can affect the results of a survey of the blood sugar level or on the results of a blood test called the Coombs test. If you need a blood test:

Driving and operating machinery
Zinnat can cause dizziness and other side effects, which can decrease your attention.
Don't drive and don't operate machinery if you feel well.

3. How to take Zinnat
Always take this medicine exactly as you told Your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults
The usual dose is 250 mg of Zinnat to 500 mg twice a day, depending on the severity and type of infection.

Children
The usual dose of Zinnat 10 mg/kg (maximum dose of 125 mg) twice daily to 15 mg/kg (maximum dose of 250 mg) twice a day, depending on:
the severity and type of infection.
Zinnat is not recommended for children under the age of 3 months, since safety and effectiveness are not known for this age group.
Depending on the disease or from your answer, or the answer to your child to treatment, the starting dose may change or the need for more than one course of treatment.
Patients with kidney problems
If you have kidney problems, your doctor may change your dose.
Talk to your doctor if this applies to you.
If you take more than the required dose of Zinnat

It is important to complete the entire course of treatment with Zinnat. Do not stop taking this medicine even if you feel better, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. If you do not complete the entire course of treatment, the infection can occur again.

4. Possible side effects
Like all drugs, this medication can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Conditions for which you need to track
A small number of people who accept the Zinnat, you get an allergic reaction or a potentially serious skin reaction. Symptoms of these reactions include:
a severe allergic reaction. Signs include the rise and an itchy rash, swelling, sometimes on the face or mouth, which can cause difficulty breathing;
skin rash, which may have bubbles and look like small targets (dark spot in the Center, surrounded by a brighter area with a dark ring around it);
widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin (these may be signs of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome or toxic epidermal nekroliza);
fungal infections. Drugs such as Zinnat can cause yeast overgrowth (Candida) in the body, which can lead to yeast infections (such as thrush). This adverse reaction is more likely if you take Zinnat for an extended period of time;
severe diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis). Drugs such as Zenith can cause inflammation of the colon, leading to severe diarrhea, usually with blood and mucus, abdominal pain and fever;
reaction of Âriš-Herkshajmer. Some patients may develop a high temperature (fever), chills, headache, muscle pain and skin rash, while on treatment with Zenith for Lyme disease. This is known as a reaction to the Âriš-Herkshajmer. The symptoms usually last a few hours or at most a day.
Immediately call your doctor or nurse if you experience any of these symptoms.

Common side effects-can affect up to 1 in 10 persons:
fungal infections (such as Candida);
headache;
lightheadedness;
diarrhea;
nausea;
abdominal pain.
Common side effects that can occur through blood tests:
raising a type of white blood cells (Eosinophilia);
increase of liver enzymes.
Uncommon side effects-can affect up to 1 in 100 people:
nausea;
skin rashes.
Uncommon adverse reactions which may occur through blood tests:
lowering the number of platelets (cells that help blood clotting);
lowering the number of white blood cells;
positive Coombs test.
Other side effects
Other side effects are observed in a very small number of people, but their exact incidence is unknown:
severe diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis);
allergic reactions;
skin reactions (including heavy);
a high temperature (fever);
yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin;
liver inflammation (hepatitis).
Side effects that may occur through blood tests:
a very quick burst of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).

Notify your doctor or pharmacist. This includes all possible other than those described in this leaflet side effects.

5. How to store Zinnat
Store below 30 ° c.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package after "exp". Refers to the last day of that month.
