Verapamil WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
The name of your medicine is Verapamil coated tablets and their active ingredient verapamil hydrochloride.
In the tablet (as a core and sheath ) contains the following inactive ingredients : lactose , potato starch , croscarmellose sodium, talc , colloidal silicon dioxide , magnesium stearate , corn starch , povidone K -25 , carmellose sodium, sucrose , polysorbate 80 , calcium carbonate , titanium dioxide, capo 600 and E104 .
Verapamil is a calcium antagonist . It extends the large coronary arteries , thus improving blood flow . It is effective for the treatment of dysrhythmias ( abnormal heart rhythm) and high blood pressure ( hypertension).
Verapamil is used for treatment of :
• stable angina ;
• Printzmetal of angina in patients with normal left ventricular function;
• arrhythmias ( in the prophylaxis of supraventricular tachycardia , ventricular rate control in patients with atrial fibrillation) ;
• essential hypertension (low or moderate ) ;
2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE verapamil
Do not take Verapamil - Tchaikapharma if:
• are pregnant , planning a pregnancy or breast-feeding ;
• you are allergic to verapamil or any other substance that comes in tablets ;
• ever had a myocardial infarction ;
• have a slow heartbeat ;
• have low blood pressure (hypotension) ;
• atrioventricular block;
• have liver disease.
Take special care with Verapamil - Tchaikapharma if:
Verapamil must be administered with caution to patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction and / or symptoms of heart failure, and patients with ventricular dysfunction. You may need to reduce the dose of verapamil in patients with depressed neuromuscular transmission ( muscular dystrophy Duce ) .
Patients with impaired hepatic function should receive 30% of the normal therapeutic dose . Patients with renal impairment should notify their physician before you start taking the tablets . Verapamil is not removed by hemodialysis.

Using other medicines:

• sulphonylurea antidiabetics)
• hydantoin
• other medicines for high blood pressure ( antihypertensives )
Taking Verapamil with food and drink :
Do not take the tablets with food or beverages containing grapefruit juice.
Pregnancy and lactation :
Adoption of Verapamil during pregnancy should be avoided , as it passes through the placental barrier.
Verapamil is excreted in breast milk. Because of potential adverse effects on the infant while taking Verapamil feeding should be discontinued.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, want to become pregnant or breast-feeding. As a rule, during pregnancy or lactation is advisable to seek advice from your doctor before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines:

3 . HOW TO TAKE verapamil
Always take Verapamil - Tchaikapharma exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Route of administration
Administered orally . Coated tablets should be swallowed whole with some liquid.
angina :
The recommended dose is 80 - 120 mg three times daily. Treatment usually begins with a dose of 40 mg three times a day and is increased to 120 mg three times a day.
In elderly patients, and those with increased response to Verapamil may be administered a dose of 40 mg three times daily.
arrhythmias
The recommended dose is 240 mg daily ( for patients receiving cardiac glycosides - digoxin ) , divided into 3 doses.
Essential hypertension:
The initial dose is typically 80 mg 3 times daily. In elderly patients with less body weight , hepatic dysfunction , and patients who have an increased response to the medication may be initiated at a dose of 40 mg three times daily.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 480 mg Verapamil .
Verapamil is contraindicated in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
If you take more than you should
If you or someone else has taken a large dose of Verapamil , tell your doctor immediately or pharmacist. Take the medicine pack with you.
Verapamil overdose can cause a significant drop in blood pressure, heart rate and heart rhythm disturbance in these cases, gastric lavage with activated charcoal.
If you forget to take Verapamil
If you forget to take a dose, do not worry. Take the dose as soon as you remember and continue taking the next dose exactly at the appointed time . However, if it is almost time for your next dose , wait until it occurs and adopts the next dose ! Do not take a double dose to make up for missed !
If you stop taking Verapamil

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Verapamil can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
Possible side effects include: cardiac rhythm disturbance and temporary hypotension ( low blood pressure) , constipation, dizziness , nausea, headache , peripheral edema , fatigue , difficulty breathing , flushing , allergic reactions, growth of mammary glands in males , hypertrophy gums , elevated liver enzymes. ;

5 . STORAGE verapamil
Keep out of reach of children.
Store in a dark , dry place below 25 ° C.
Do not take after the expiry date stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
