Your medicine is called AKRUKS. Its active ingredient is candesartan cilexetil. It belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-II receptor antagonists. Exerts its effects by relaxing and expanding your blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure. Also facilitates heart in pushing blood to all parts of your body.

This medicine is used for:
Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) in the elderly;
Treatment of adult patients with heart failure and reduced function of the cardiac muscle, in addition to treatment with angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), or when it can not be used ACE inhibitors (ACE inhibitors are a group of drugs used to treat heart failure).

Do not take AKRUKS
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to candesartan cilexetil or any of the other ingredients of AKRUKS (see section 6);
if you are pregnant after the third month (it is better to avoid taking AKRUKS in early pregnancy - see pregnancy section):
if you have severe liver disease or biliary obstruction (problems with drainage of bile from the gall bladder).
If you are not sure if any of these apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking AKRUKS.

Take special care with AKRUKS
Before you start taking AKRUKS or while taking it, tell your doctor:
If you have heart problems, liver or kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis;
If you have recently had a kidney transplant;
If you vomit, have recently had severe bouts of vomiting or have diarrhea;
If you have a disease of the adrenal glands called "Conn's syndrome" (also called "primary hyperaldosteronism");
If you have low blood pressure;
If you have ever had a stroke;
You must tell your doctor if you are pregnant (or might become) pregnant. Taking AKRUKS in early pregnancy is not recommended, but if you're after the third month of pregnancy should not take it because it may cause serious harm to your baby if used at that stage (see pregnancy section) .
If you have any of these conditions, your doctor may want to see you more often and you do further research.
If you have surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking AKRUKS. The reason for this is that the combination of certain AKRUKS anesthetic may cause a sharp lowering of blood pressure.

Use in children
There is no experience with the use of AKRUKS in children (under 18 years). Therefore AKRUKS should not be given to children.

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
AKRUKS may affect the way other medicines work and some medicines can affect the way AKRUKS. If you use certain drugs periodically may need your doctor to have a blood test.
Tell your doctor, especially if you use any of the following medicines:
Other medicines to lower blood pressure, including beta-blockers, diazoxide and ACE inhibitors such as enalapril, captopril, lisinopril or ramipril;
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, celecoxib or etoricoxib (medicines for relief of pain and inflammation);
Acetylsalicylic acid (if you are using more than 3 g daily - a medicament for the alleviation of pain and inflammation);
Potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes (drugs that increase the concentration of potassium in the blood);
Heparin (anticoagulant medicine);
Water tablets (diuretics);
Lithium (a medicine for mental illness).

Taking AKRUKS with food and drink (especially alcohol)
You may take AKRUKS with or without food.
When you are prescribed AKRUKS, talk to your doctor before you drink alcohol. Alcohol can cause weakness or dizziness.

Pregnancy and lactation
You should tell your doctor if you are (or might become) pregnant. Your doctor will normally advise you to stop taking AKRUKS before you become pregnant or as soon as possible after making sure that you are pregnant and will advise you to take another medicine instead AKRUKS. AKRUKS use is not recommended in early pregnancy, and must not be taken if you are pregnant after three months, as it may cause serious harm to your baby.

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. AKRUKS not recommended for mothers who are breastfeeding and your doctor may choose another treatment for you if you wish to breast-feed, especially if your baby is newborn, or was born prematurely.

Driving and using machines
During the intake AKRUKS some people may experience fatigue or dizziness. If this happens, do not drive or operate any tools or machines.

Important information about some of the ingredients of AKRUKS
AKRUKS contain lactose, which is a type of sugar. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to him before you start taking this medicine.

Always take AKRUKS just as you told your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. It is important to take AKRUKS every day.
You may take AKRUKS with or without food.

High blood pressure
The usual dose of AKRUKS 8 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase this dose to 16 mg once daily, or even up to 32 mg once a day, depending on how it affects the blood pressure.
In some patients such as those with liver problems, kidney problems or have recently lost large amounts of body fluids - for example due to vomiting or diarrhea, or taking water tablets, your doctor may prescribe a lower starting dose.

heart failure
The usual starting dose of AKRUKS is 4 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase your dose her doubled during a period of at least 2 weeks - until a dose of 32 mg once daily. AKRUKS can be taken with other medicines for heart failure, and your doctor will decide which treatment is suitable for you.

If you take a higher dose than necessary AKRUKS

As with all medications, AKRUKS can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. It is important to know what can be the side effects.

Stop taking AKRUKS and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following allergic reactions:
difficulty breathing with or without swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat;
swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing;
severe itching of the skin (with raised lumps).

AKRUKS may reduce the number of white blood cells. Your resistance to infection may be decreased and you may notice fatigue, infection or fever. If this happens, contact your doctor. Your doctor may periodically perform tests on blood values to check whether AKRUKS affect your blood (agranulocytosis).

Other possible side effects include
Common (affect 1 to 10 users in 100):
Dizziness / vertigo;
Respiratory tract infections;

Changes in blood test results: increasing the level of potassium in your blood, especially if you have kidney problems or heart failure. If this increase is large, you may experience fatigue, weakness, irregular heartbeat or numbness;

Keep out of reach of children.
AKRUKS not use after the expiry date stated on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

The active ingredient is candesartan cilexetil.
Each tablet AKRUKS 4 mg tablet contains 4 mg candesartan cilexetil.
Each tablet AKRUKS 8 mg tablet contains 8 mg candesartan cilexetil.
Each tablet AKRUKS 16 mg contains 16 mg of candesartan cilexetil.
Each tablet AKRUKS 32 mg contains 32 mg candesartan cilexetil.

The other ingredients are sodium docusate, sodium lauryl sulfate, carmellose calcium, pregelatinized maize starch, hydroxypropylcellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (E572), red iron oxide (E 172) (for tablets of 16 mg and 32 mg).
