MENDILEX 2 mg. 50 tablets

INGREDIENTS:
Each tablet contains 2 mg of biperiden hydrochloride.
Excipients:
Magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose.

Pharmacotherapeutic group
Mendilex is an anticholinergic centrally acting with slight peripheral effects. As a result of blocking the cholinergic receptors biperiden relieves and eliminates the symptoms of Parkinsonism.

INDICATIONS FOR TREATMENT
The most common application is Mendilex as adjunctive treatment of all forms of Parkinsonism. Used in combination, it enhances the healing effect of El-dopa. Biperiden can be used alone to treat mild forms of Parkinson's syndrome.
Mendileks finds application in the treatment of extrapyramidal effects, provoked by the treatment with neuroleptics or reactions of other origin.


CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Mendilex is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to biperiden, myasthenia gravis, closure increased intraocular pressure, blockage of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract blockage, paralysis of the gut or lack of intestinal tone, reflux oesophagitis, ulcerative colitis or toxic extension of the rectum unstable cardiovascular conditions in acute blood loss.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Mendilex should be used with caution in individuals elderly patients with prostate enlargement, heart beat with arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, angina, high blood pressure, ileostomy / colostomy.

DRUG INTERACTIONS AND OTHER INTERACTIONS
When concomitant administration of biperiden drugs and possessing secondary anticholinergic effects may occur central anticholinergic syndrome.

Pregnancy and lactation
Avoid the use of biperiden during pregnancy. The drug is excreted in breast milk and can lead to unpleasant anticholinergic effects in the infant. Biperiden can be used during pregnancy and lactation only if its use is indispensable.

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The dose and duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician.
overdose
An overdose of biperiden resulting in symptoms similar to atropine intoxication - extended and slow-reacting pupils, hot and dry skin, facial flushing, dry mouth and upper respiratory tract infection, fever, palpitations, cardiac arrhythmias, slow intestinal motility and retention urine, and disorientation, anxiety, irritability, hallucinations, confusion, hyperactivity, impaired balance and seizures.
In severe cases, the condition may progress to stupor, unconsciousness, paralysis, cardiac arrest and respiratory and death.
Treatment of acute poisoning include gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment of fever, respiratory and cardiovascular disorders. Apply physostigmine at a dose of 1 mg intramuscularly or by slow intravenous infusion. The dose can be repeated every 20 minutes until a total of 4 mg.
In children and the elderly apply half the dose.
The patient must remain under surveillance 8 to 12 hours after the last crisis.

Omission of one dose
In case of missing a dose, the next dose should be taken as soon as possible. If the time of the next dose is near to skip the missed dose and continue taking the drug as specified mode. Do not take two doses at once.


SIDE EFFECTS
Most side effects of treatment with biperiden result of anticholinergic effects. Most often mentioned dry mouth and blurred vision. These effects were dose-dependent. Rarely can occur gastrointestinal disorders, drowsiness, dizziness and confusion. Very rarely in single cases have been observed transient psychotic reactions, agitation and disorientation, urinary retention, low blood pressure, irritability and behavioral changes.
