What VAPRES is and what it is used for
VAPRES contains valsartan, which belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists, which help control high blood pressure. Angiotensin Π is a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict, thus raising blood pressure. VAPRES works by blocking the effect of angiotensin Π. As a result, the blood vessels relax and the blood pressure drops.
VAPRES can be used in three different conditions:
For the treatment of high blood pressure in adults, children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years. Your doctor will use 80 mg and 160 mg tablets to treat high blood pressure in adults. High blood pressure increases the load on the heart and arteries. If left untreated, it can damage blood vessels in the brain, heart and kidneys and cause stroke, heart or kidney failure. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack. Lowering blood pressure to normal reduces the risk of developing such conditions.
For the treatment of adults after a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction). "Recent" means a heart attack between 12 hours and 10 days before treatment.
For the treatment of symptomatic heart failure in adults. VAPRES is used when a group of medicines called angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) (used to treat heart failure) cannot be used or in addition to ACE inhibitors when other medicines cannot be used to treat them. of heart failure.
Symptoms of heart failure include shortness of breath and swelling of the feet and legs due to fluid retention. This happens when the heart muscle cannot pump blood hard enough to supply blood to the whole body.

if you are taking medicines that increase the amount of potassium ρ in your blood. Do they include potassium supplements or H substitutes? potassium-containing salts, potassium-sparing diuretics and heparin. Periodic monitoring of blood potassium levels ρ may be required,
if you suffer from aldosteronism. It is a disease in which the adrenal glands produce large amounts of the hormone aldosterone. If this applies to you, the use of VAPRES is not recommended,
if you have lost a lot of fluids (dehydration) due to diarrhea, vomiting or taking large doses of "dehydrating" tablets (diuretics).

Can your doctor periodically check your kidney function, blood pressure and H amount? electrolytes (eg potassium) in your blood. See also the information entitled "Do not take VAPRES".
