What is Zoladex LA and what it is used
The name of your medicine Zoladex LA is a long acting . The active agent is goserelin . Zoladex Each ampoule contains 10,8 mg goserelin . Each injection contains the active substances ( lactide / glycolide copolymers ) .
Goserelin is from the group of medicines called LHRH analogues. It lowers the level of testosterone produced in the human body.
Zoladex LA is indicated for treatment of prostate cancer .

2 . What you should know before using Zoladex LA
Do not use Zoladex LA
If you are allergic (hypersensitive ) to the active substance or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in Section 6: Further information);
If you are allergic to other "LHRH analogues "
Zoladex LA should not be administered to children;
Zoladex LA is a formulation of the long acting Zoladex (12 weeks) , and should not be used in women .
Take special care with Zoladex LA
There are reports of depression in patients receiving Zoladex , which may be severe . If you are taking Zoladex and develop depressive mood, tell your doctor.

Before you get your injection , tell your doctor if:
Have had difficulty with urination or back pain ;
Have diabetes ;
This type of drugs can result in a reduction of calcium in the bones ( reduction of bone density ) . If you suffer from a disease that affects the bones you tell your doctor about it ;
If you go into hospital, tell the medical staff that you are taking Zoladex LA.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Driving and using machines
It is unlikely that your injection adversely affect your ability to drive or operate machinery .

Important information about some of the ingredients of Zoladex LA
Zoladex LA contains a potent synthetic decapeptide analogue of luteinizing hormone - releasing hormone (LHRH), also known as an analogue of a gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH), which may cause a problem in a small number of patients.

3 . How to use Zoladex LA
Zoladex LA is administered as a subcutaneous injection in the abdomen 12 weeks.
Zoladex LA will be injected by your doctor or nurse .
It is important to continue treatment with Zoladex LA, even if you feel well until your doctor determines that it is time to stop your treatment.
Zoladex LA should be administered for 12 weeks. Always remind the doctor or nurse to enroll you next time for the injection. If you give a time that is before or after 12 weeks from the last injection , please pay attention to the doctor.
If it is more than 12 weeks from placing the last injection , contact your doctor to let you set it up as quickly as possible .
4 . Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Zoladex LA can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .

Very common side effects (affects more than 1 in 10 people):
Hot flushes and sweating ;
Lowering of libido / impotence.
Common side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 100) :
Mood swings , depression ;
Reduction in bone density ;
When you start taking Zoladex for the first time , you may experience bone pain. If this happens , contact your doctor ;
Raise blood sugar levels ;
Changes in blood pressure ;
Reduced cardiac function ;
Heart attack ;
Skin rashes ;
Numbness in fingers or toes;
Pain, bruising , bleeding, redness , swelling and other reactions may occur around the injection site of Zoladex ;
Swelling of the breasts ;
Weight gain.
Uncommon side effects ( affects 1 to 10 people in every 1000 ):
Breast tenderness ;
Joint pain ;
Backache or pain when passing urine . If this happens , contact your doctor ;
Drug hypersensitivity .
Very rare side effects (affects less than 1 person per 10 000 population ):
Psychiatric problems called psychotic disorders , which may show the development of hallucinations , impaired thinking , and personality disorders , may occur only rarely ;
Development of a tumor of the pituitary gland , or , if you have an existing tumor of the pituitary gland , Zoladex can cause bleeding or tumor reduction . This is very rare, but can cause severe headache , malaise , loss of vision and unconsciousness.
Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000 ):
Allergic reactions.

Hair loss .
Zoladex LA is a drug for hormone therapy and sometimes it can cause side effects .

5 . How to store Zoladex LA
It is possible you are prescribed medication and have to store it until your next visit.
Keep it in its original packaging and print.
You should store your injection at temperatures below 25 ° C.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Zoladex LA after the expiry date stated on the pack .
If you have not used your medicine , return it back to the pharmacist.
