Sultamicillin is taken orally, and changes in the body before it reaches its active form. It was converted to the two substances, ampicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and sulbactam.

UNASYN WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Unasyn is the medicine of the penicillin antibiotics . It is used for treating bacterial infections .
Sultamicillin is taken orally , and changes in the body before it reaches its active form . It was converted to the two substances, ampicillin ( a penicillin antibiotic) and sulbactam . Ampicillin sulbactam support its operation in infections caused by penicillin-resistant bacteria. This drug is used for treatment of many different types of infections caused by susceptible micro-organisms .

In which case use the medicine
Your doctor may also prescribe Unazin to treat infections such as :
infections of the upper respiratory tract , e. sinusitis , infections of the middle ear , tonsillitis ;
Infections of the lower respiratory tract , e. bacterial pneumonia and bronchitis ;
urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis ( inflammation of the renal pelvis ) ;
skin and soft tissue ;
gonococcal infections ( infections , sexually transmitted ) .
Your doctor may prescribe Unazin tablets after an initial course of treatment with injectable Unazin .

2 . BEFORE YOU USE UNASYN
Do not use Unazin
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ampicillin / sulbactam and penicillin .
Take special care with Unasyn
Tell your doctor if you have a hypersensitivity ( allergy ) to penicillins and / or other allergens ;
If you are under Unasyn long time , your doctor may want to do some blood tests .
If you have infectious mononucleosis .
Infectious mononucleosis is a disease of viral origin. In its treatment should not be used Unazin . Unazin often causes skin rash in these patients.

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Allopurinol (used for gout ): the ability to develop a skin rash is increased when allopurinol is used together with Unazin ;
Anticoagulants (to prevent thrombus formation in the circulatory system): Unazin can increase the effects of these drugs ;
Chloramphenicol , erythromycin , sulfonamides and tetracyclines ( anti-infectives ): these drugs may interfere with anti-infective effect of Unazin , it is best to avoid concomitant use ;
Estrogen - containing oral contraceptives (birth control pills ): Unazin may reduce the effectiveness of these drugs ;
Methotrexate (used in some forms of cancer , inflammatory diseases and cutaneous ): Unazin may increase the toxicity of methotrexate ;
Probenecid (used for gout ): may increase the toxicity of Unasyn .
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine .
Not recommended for use Unazin during pregnancy and lactation .

Driving and using machines
Not expected Unazin influence the ability to drive and use machines.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Unazin
Unazin tablets contain lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking Unazin .

3 . HOW TO USE UNASYN
Always use Unazin exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Unazin tablets are taken by mouth .

Usual dose for adults, the elderly and children over 30 kg:
375-750 mg ( 1-2 tablets) twice daily.

Usual dose for children under 30 kg:
25-50 mg / kg / day . two doses .

Dose for gonorrhea :
A single dose of 2.25 g ( 6 tablets). Simultaneously, it can be applied to 1 g orally Probenecid to maintain concentrations of ampicillin and sulbactam levels for a longer time .

Doctors sometimes prescribe different doses to these . This leaflet you identify what doses should take and how often to take them . If you are unsure , check with your doctor or pharmacist.
It is best to take your medicine at the same time each day. Take medications throughout the appointed course of treatment even if you feel better. If you stop taking the drug prematurely infection may return .
The drug is generally given from 5 to 14 days .

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Unasyn can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
General disorders and administration site conditions:
Uncommon: Allergic reaction ( hypersensitivity) reactions , including shock.
Gastrointestinal disorders:
Common: diarrhea / loose stools ;
Uncommon: nausea , vomiting, weight in podlazhichnata area ( epigastric distress ) , black stools ( melena ) and abdominal pain / cramps, colitis caused by overgrowth of certain bacteria ( enterocolitis , pseudomembranous colitis) .
Nervous system disorders :
Uncommon: Dizziness .
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders:
Rare: Suffocation ( dyspnoea) .
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
Uncommon : rash , itching , vascular neurosis (angioedema) , dermatitis and urticaria.
Miscellaneous:
Rare : somnolence / sedation , fatigue / malaise and headache.
Adverse reactions associated with the use of ampicillin alone , can be observed with sultamicillin .
Adverse reactions associated with the use of ampicillin and / or intramuscular / intravenous sulbactam / ampicillin include:
Nervous system disorders :
Rare: convulsions.
Gastrointestinal disorders:
Uncommon: inflammation of the tongue ( glossitis ) , inflammation of the lining of the mouth (stomatitis ), black hairy tongue.
Blood and lymphatic system disorders:
Uncommon: changes in the number of certain blood cells.
Hepatobiliary :
Common: changes in some parameters of liver function ;
Uncommon: from the liver and gall bladder , jaundice .
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
Rare: peeling skin ( exfoliative dermatitis) , rash, blistering (erythema multiforme) , severe skin reaction ( syndrome Stevens-Johnson).
Renal and urinary disorders:
Rare: inflammation of the kidneys ( nephritis ) .

5 . STORAGE UNASYN
Keep out of reach of children.
Unazin not use after the expiry date stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not store above 25 ° C.

What does Unasyn
The active ingredient is sultamicillin .
Other ingredients are: lactose , corn starch , sodium starch glycolate , hydroxypropylcellulose, magnesium stearate , macrogol 6000 , hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, titanium dioxide, talc .
