What Trihomonacid and what it is used?
Trihomonacid is a synthetic derivative of imidazole antiprotozoal and antibacterial properties . In most organisms it not only stops their development, but destroy them . Trihomonatsid is used to treat infections caused by susceptible organisms as shown :
• amebiasis ;
• Urogenital trichomoniasis ;
• Non-specific vaginitis ;
• Giardiaza ( giardiasis ) ;
• Infections of anaerobic infections ;
• As part of a combination therapy for the treatment of infection with Helicobacter pylori-,
• Prevention of postoperative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria ;
• treatment or prophylaxis of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, after parenteral manipulations.
2 . Before you take Trihomonacid
Do not take Trihomonacid :
• If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to metronidazole , other imidazoles , or to any of the excipients .
• If you are pregnant in the first three months of pregnancy.
• If you are breastfeeding .
Warnings and Precautions
Before you take Trihomonacid tablets , tell your doctor if: you have an active or chronic disease of the nervous system; have impaired liver function, suffer from epilepsy or have ever had seizures ; you are between 4 and ninth month of pregnancy ;
- If you have blood disorders or abnormalities of the blood (eg, low white blood cells). This is especially important if you are taking a long time or are given higher doses.
Tell your doctor if during treatment : see uncertainty in gait , dizziness or mental confusion ; after prolonged treatment for your monitor: tingling, gait instability , dizziness, vertigo, convulsions) ;

Other medicines and Trihomonacid

Trnhomonacid of food, beverages and alcohol
Trihomonacid taken with water at mealtimes .

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility

3 . How to take Trihomonacid ?

The tablets are intended for oral administration .
Infections caused by anaerobic bacteria
Adults: 2 tablets 3 times daily.
Children over 8 weeks to 12 years: The usual dose is 20-30 mg / kg once or in three divided doses at 7,5 mg / kg every 8 hours .
The daily dose may be increased to 40 mg / kg , depending on the severity of the infection . The usual duration of therapy is 7 days.
Acute amoebic dysentery and amoebic liver abscess
Adults: 8 tablets once daily for 3 days or 3 tablets 3 times a day for 5-10 days.
Children over 10 years: 1/2 to 3 tablets 3 times daily for 5-10 days . Children 7 to 10 years: 1 to 1 1/2 tablets 3 times daily for 5-10 days. Children 3 to 7 years: 1/2 tablet four times daily for 5-10 days. Children from 1 to 3 years: ½ tablet 3 times a day for 5-10 days.
Asimptomatpchna intestinal amebiasis
Adults: 3 tablets 3 times a day for 10 days.
Children over 10 years: 1/2 to 3 tablets 3 times daily for 5-10 days. Children 7 to 10 years: 1 to 1 1/2 tablets 3 times daily for 5-10 days. Children 3 to 7 years: 1/2 tablet four times daily for 5-10 days. Children from 1 to 3 years: ½ tablet 3 times a day for 5-10 days.
Alternatively, the dose is calculated in mg per kg of body weight : 35-50 mg / kg daily in three divided doses for 5 to 10 days. The daily dose should not exceed 2,4 g ( 9 1/2 tablets).
Mature - 8 tablets once daily for 2-3 days or 1 day 3 times for 7 days.
Children over 10 years: 8 tablets once daily for 3 days or 1 1/2 tablets daily for 5 days or 2 tablets 2 times daily for 7 to 10 days. Children 7 to 10 years: 4 tablets once daily for 3 days. Children 3 to 7 years: 2 1/2 tablets 3 tablets once daily for 3 days. Children from 1 to 3 years: 2 tablets once a day for 3 days. Alternatively, the dose is calculated in mg per kg of body weight : 15-40 mg / kg per day, divided into 2-3 doses.
Adults and adolescents - 8 tablets or a single dose of 1 tablet 3 times daily for 7 days, or 1 1/2 tablets 2 times a day for 5-7 days.
Children under the age of 10 : 40 mg / kg orally as a single dose , or 15-30 mg / kg per day, divided into 2-3 intakes in 7 days ; do not exceed a dose of 8 tablets.

For prevention of surgical risk of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria Adults - 4 tablets as a single dose .

Whenever postoperative treatment

4 . Possible side effects
Possible side effects while taking Trihomonacid :

Very rare : pancreatitis , pruritus, pustules on the skin , dizziness, difficulty with coordination of movements , confusion and hallucinations , hepatitis, double vision and myopia , dark urine diverted liver values .
Rare: fever, anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction) , neuropathy after prolonged use (a disorder of the nerves , which can lead to weakness, numbness, tingling ) , seizures , headache , agranulocytosis ( lack of white blood cells) , decreased number of white blood cells and platelets in the blood.
Nene : angioedema (severe allergic reaction that causes swelling of the face or throat) .

5 . How to store Trihomonacid ?
