What TENAKSUM and what it is used
This drug is indicated for treatment of hypertension.
Before taking TENAKSUM
Do not take TENAKSUM
if you are allergic to rilmenidine or any of the excipients of TENAKSUM
if you have severe depression
If you suffer from severe kidney failure
Take special care with TENAKSUM
Do not discontinue treatment without consulting your doctor.
As with all antihypertensive drugs, treatment should be under regular medical supervision. TENAKSUM not recommended for use in children.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, especially:
Taking TENAKSUM with food and drink
Avoid drinking alcohol during treatment.
Take TENAKSUM as it is prescribed by your doctor before eating.
Pregnancy and lactation
TENAKSUM not recommended for pregnant women.
TENAKSUM is excreted in breast milk and therefore its use during lactation is not recommended.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Driving and operating machinery
There is a negligible risk of drowsiness with TENAKSUM and in combination with drugs that reduce attention and concentration ability.
Important information about some of the ingredients of TENAKSUM
If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
HOW TO TAKE TENAKSUM
Methods and routes of administration
Dosage and frequency of administration
Always take TENAKSUM exactly as your doctor has told you. Talk to him or pharmacist if you are unsure about something.
The usual dosage is one tablet per day. It is recommended to take the drug as a single dose in the morning. In case of unsatisfactory results after one month of treatment, the dose may be increased to 2 tablets daily. It is recommended to be taken in two doses (one tablet in the morning and evening) before meals.
In renal failure if creatinine clearance is less than 15ml/min. Dose generally remains the same.
If you take more than the dose TENAKSUM
In case of overdose contact your doctor immediately.
If you forget to take TENAKSUM
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet.
If you stop taking TENAKSUM
Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor. If you have any questions about using this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like any medicine TENAKSUM can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. These reactions occur rarely and were mild and transient therapeutic conditions: fatigue, increased heart rate, insomnia, drowsiness, stomach pain, diarrhea, skin rash, in exceptional cases - cold extremities, restlessness, cramps, nausea, constipation, hot flush to the face.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
HOW TO STORE TENAKSUM
Store at temperatures below 25 °. Keep out of reach of children. TENAKSUM Do not use after the expiry date stated on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
The active substance is rilmenidine, each tablet contains 1 mg. rilmenidine.
The other ingredients are colloidal anhydrous silica, lactose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, paraffin, sodium starch glycolate, talc, white beeswax.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
TENAKSUM looks like and contents of pack
TENAKSUM 1 mg. are white, biconvex tablets, engraved with "N" on both sides.
The tablets are available in PVC / Aluminium packs (blisters) of 30 tablets.
