Symbicort TURBUHALER WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Symbicort Turbuhaler is an inhaler . It contains two different medications - budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate.
Budesonide belongs to a group of medicines called " corticosteroids " . It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in your lung and prevents their development.
Formoterol fumarate dihydrate belongs to a group of medicines called ' long-acting beta2 -adrenoceptor mimetics "or" bronchodilator " . It works by relaxing muscles in the airways . This facilitates breathing.
Your doctor has prescribed this drug for the treatment of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD).
asthma
For asthma Symbicort Turbuhaler can be prescribed in two different ways .

a) Some people are prescribed two inhalers : Symbicort Turbuhaler and another inhaler to relieve symptoms .
They use Symbicort Turbuhaler every day . It helps to prevent the onset of asthma symptoms ;
The inhaler for the relief of symptoms is used at the onset of symptoms of asthma , to alleviate respiratory cc .
b) Some people Symbicort Turbuhaler is administered as a single inhaler.

2 . BEFORE YOU USE Symbicort TURBUHALER
Do not use Symbicort Turbuhaler :
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to budesonide , formoterol or other component of Symbicort Turbuhaler , which is lactose ( milk contains small amounts of protein).
Take special care with Symbicort Turbuhaler :
Before you start using Symbicort Turbuhaler , tell your doctor or pharmacist :
If you have diabetes ;
If you have a lung infection ;
If you have high blood pressure or have ever had a heart problem (including irregular heartbeat, rapid pulse , narrowing of the arteries or heart failure) ;
If you have thyroid problems or adrenal glands ;
If you have low potassium levels in the blood ;
If you have severe liver disease.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription and herbal medicines .

In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following :
Beta- blockers ( such as atenolol and propranolol, used to treat high blood pressure ) , including in the form of eye drops ( such as timolol, used in the treatment of glaucoma ) ;
Medicines to treat fast or irregular heartbeat ( such as quinidine ) ;
Drugs such as digoxin, commonly used to treat heart failure ;

Medicines to treat infections ( such as ketoconazole , itraconazole , voriconazole , posaconazole, clarithromycin, and telithromycin) ;
Drugs for the treatment of Parkinson's disease ( such as levodopa) ;
Drugs for the treatment of thyroid diseases ( such as levothyroxine ) .
If any of these apply to you, or you're not sure , ask your doctor or pharmacist before using Symbicort Turbuhaler .

Also tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have surgery or dental treatment under general anesthesia.

Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant , talk to your doctor before using Symbicort Turbuhaler - do not use Symbicort Turbuhaler unless your doctor tells you to use it ;
If you become pregnant while using Symbicort Turbuhaler , do not stop using it immediately and contact their physician ;
If you are breastfeeding , talk to your doctor before using Symbicort Turbuhaler .
Driving and using machines
Symbicort Turbuhaler no or a negligible influence on the ability to drive or operate any tools or machines .

Important information about some components of Symbicort Turbuhaler
Symbicort Turbuhaler contains lactose , which is a type of sugar. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before using this medicine . Amount of lactose contained in this medicine does not normally cause problems in people with lactose intolerance .

Excipient lactose contains small amounts of milk protein , which may cause the development of allergic reactions.

3 . HOW TO USE Symbicort TURBUHALER
Always use Symbicort Turbuhaler exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist ;
It is important to use Symbicort Turbuhaler every day , even if you have no symptoms of asthma or COPD ;
If you use Symbicort Turbuhaler for asthma , your doctor will want to regularly check what symptoms you have.
If you are taking corticosteroid tablets for asthma or COPD , your doctor may reduce the number of tablets you take, once you start using Symbicort Turbuhaler . If you are taking corticosteroid tablets for a long time, your doctor may want you to have blood tests from time to time. When you reduce oral corticosteroid tablets may make you feel generally unwell , although the symptoms of your chest can be improved. You may experience symptoms such as stuffy or runny nose , weakness or joint and muscle pain, and rash ( eczema) . If any of these symptoms are bothering you , or if you experience symptoms such as headache, fatigue , nausea or vomiting , contact your doctor immediately . You may need to take a different medicine if you develop allergic or arthritic symptoms. You should talk to your doctor if you are worried whether you should continue to use Symbicort Turbuhaler .
Your doctor may decide that it is necessary adding corticosteroid tablets to your usual treatment during periods of stress ( for example, when you have a chest infection or prior surgery ) .

Important information about the symptoms of asthma or COPD
If you feel while using Symbicort Turbuhaler your breathing becomes labored or wheezing occur , you should continue to use it , but as soon as possible, you should visit your doctor because you may need additional treatment.

Immediately contact your doctor if :
Your breathing becomes difficult or often wake up at night with an asthma attack ;

a) How to use Symbicort Turbuhaler plus additional inhaler to relieve symptoms
Use your Symbicort Turbuhaler every day. This helps to prevent the development of symptoms of asthma .
Adults ( over 18 years)
The usual dosage is 1 or 2 inhalations twice a day ;
Your doctor may increase your dose to 4 inhalations twice daily ;
If your symptoms are well controlled , your doctor may prescribe you to take this medicine once daily.
Adolescents ( 12 to 17 years)
The usual dosage is 1 or 2 inhalations twice a day ;
If your symptoms are well controlled , your doctor may prescribe you to take this medicine once daily.
For the treatment of children aged 6 to 11 years is available Symbicort Turbuhaler in a lower dose .
Symbicort Turbuhaler use in children under 6 years old is not recommended.
Your doctor (or nurse ) will help you control your asthma . They will select the lowest dose of this medicine, enough to control your symptoms . However, do not change your dose without first you consult your doctor (or medical sister ) .

Use single inhaler to relieve symptoms , to control the symptoms of asthma, as they become available . Always wear inhaler to relieve symptoms - if you need it . Do not use Symbicort Turbuhaler to control symptoms of asthma - use the inhaler to relieve symptoms .

b) How to use Symbicort Turbuhaler as a single inhaler for asthma
Use Symbicort Turbuhaler in this way only if your doctor has told you to use and you are over 18 years old.

Use your Symbicort Turbuhaler every day. This helps to prevent the development of symptoms of asthma . You can do:
1 inhalation in the morning and one evening inhalation ;
2 inhalations morning ;
2 inhalations night.
Your doctor may increase your dose to 2 inhalations two times a day.

Also use Symbicort Turbuhaler as an inhaler to relieve symptoms , to master pa asthma symptoms if they become available.
If you experience symptoms of asthma , make your first inhalation and wait a few minutes;
If you feel better , do you still single inhalation ;
Do not make more than 6 inhalations once.
Always wear your Symbicort Turbuhaler with you so you can use it if you need it .
Usually do not require the use of a total daily dose of more than 8 inhalations . However, for a limited period of time , your doctor may allow you to make up to 12 inhalations per day.
If you regularly need to make 8 or more inhalations per day, make an appointment with their doctor or nurse - you may need to change your treatment .
Do not make more than a total of 12 inhalations in 24 hours.
If you experience symptoms of asthma, while physical exercise , use Symbicort Turbuhaler as described above. Do not use Symbicort Turbuhaler immediately before loading to prevent the development of asthma symptoms .
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ):
For adults only ( over 18 years);
The usual dosage is 2 inhalations 2 times daily.
Your doctor may prescribe other bronchodilators such as anticholinergic drugs (such as tiotropium bromide or ipratopiev ) in COPD .

How to prepare your new Symbicort Turbuhaler
Before you start to use your new inhaler Symbicort Turbuhaler for the first time, you need to prepare it for use as follows:
Unscrew the cap and lift it . You should hear a click ;
Hold your Turbuhaler right underneath the red disk ;
Turn up the red disc in one direction . Then turn it all the way in the other direction ( it does not matter which way you turn it first ) . You should hear a click ;
Do the same again , turning the red disc in both directions;
Your Turbuhaler is now ready for use.
How to make inhalation
Follow the instructions below for each inhalation you need to do.
1. Unscrew the cap and lift it . You should hear a click .
2 . Hold your Turbuhaler upright with the red disc below.
3 . When you load your Turbuhaler not hold the mouthpiece. To load your Turbuhaler with one dose , turn completely red disc in one direction .

When to start using a new Turbuhaler

If you forget to use Symbicort Turbuhaler
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose , skip the missed ;
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Symbicort Turbuhaler can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .

If you develop any of these symptoms , stop using Symbicort Turbuhaler and immediately contact your doctor :
Swelling of the face , especially the mouth ( tongue and / or throat and / or difficulty swallowing) or appearance of hives together with difficulty breathing (angioedema) and / or sudden fainting . This may mean that you have developed an allergic reaction. This develops rarely - at less than 1 per 1 000 ;
Sudden, severe development of wheezing or breathlessness immediately after using the inhaler. High blood sugar ;

Change in blood pressure.
Corticosteroids can affect the normal production of steroid hormones in your body , especially if they are administered at a high dose for a long period of time . These effects include:
Change in bone density (weakening of the bones) ;
Cataract ( clouding of the lens of the eye ) ;
Glaucoma (increased pressure) ;
Growth retardation in children and adolescents ;
Interference with the function of the adrenal glands (small gland adjacent to the kidney ) .
The likelihood of the development of these effects is much smaller when taking inhaled corticosteroids than a corticosteroid in the form of tablets.

If any of the side effects gets serious , or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet , please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5 . HOW TO STORE Symbicort TURBUHALER
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use the inhaler after the expiry date stated on the carton and on the label of your inhaler after " EXP" . The expiry date refers to the last day of the slain month. Do not store above 30 ° C.
Keep container / cap tightly closed to protect from moisture.
