Salofalk 1000мg. 10 suppositories
Salofalk 1 g suppository containing the active substance mesalazine, an anti-inflammatory agent used to treat inflammatory bowel disease.
Salofalk 1 g suppositories are used for:
the treatment of mild to moderate episodes of acute inflammation, restricted to the rectum (colon), known to physicians as ulcerative colitis or ulcerative proctitis.
2. BEFORE YOU USE SALOFALK 1 g of SUPPOSITORIES
Do not use Salofalk 1 g of suppository:
or if you've been informed that you are hypersensitive (allergic) to salicylic acid, to salicylates such as Aspirin or other ingredient of Salofalk 1 g of suppositories (referred to in section 6. "Further information");
if you have a serious disease of the liver or kidneys.
Take special care with Salofalk 1 g of suppositories.
Before using this medication, you should tell your doctor:
if you have a history of lung problems, particularly if you suffer from asthma;
if you have a history of allergy to sulfasalazine, a substance similar to mesalazine;
if you have liver problems;
if you have kidney problems.
During treatment, your doctor may require close medical monitoring of your condition and may you need to conduct regular blood tests and urine.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor if you are taking or using any of the following medicines, as the effects of these medicines may change (interactions):
Azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine or thioguanine (medicines used to treat disorders of the immune system);
some agents that inhibit blood clotting (medicines for thrombosis / thrombus or blood thinners).
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. It is possible in this case you can use Salofalk 1 g of suppository if your doctor considers.
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
During pregnancy you should use Salofalk 1 g of suppositories only if your doctor has advised you to do so.

Driving and using machines

H. HOW TO USE SALOFALK 1 g of SUPPOSITORIES
Always use Salofalk 1 g of suppository just as you have been told by your doctor. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Method of administration
This medicine can only be applied rectally, so it should be placed in the anus. DO NOT ingest orally.
Adults and elderly patients:
If you have signs of acute inflammation use Salofalk 1 g of suppository once a day before bedtime.
There is little experience and only limited data on the impact on children.
Duration of treatment
Your doctor will decide how long you should continue treatment with this medicine. This will depend on your disease.
To get maximum benefit from this medicine, you should use Salofalk 1 g of suppositories regular and ongoing basis, as scheduled.
If you think Salofalk 1 g were too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor.
If you use more Salofalk dose of 1 g suppository
If in doubt, contact your doctor so that he / she can decide what should be done.
If you used it once more than the required dose of 1 g Salofalk suppositories, just use the next dose as prescribed. Do not use less quantity.
If you forget to use Salofalk 1 g of suppository
Do not use more than the normal dose of 1 g Salofalk suppositories next time, but continue treatment at the prescribed dosage.
If you stop using Salofalk 1 g of suppository
Do not stop using this product until you consult your doctor.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Salofalk 1 g of suppositories may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
All medicines can cause allergic reactions, although serious allergic reactions are very rare. If you experience any of these symptoms after using this medicine, you should immediately contact your doctor:
allergic skin rash;
If any of these side effects stop taking mesalazine and contact your doctor immediately.
If you feel a marked decline in general health, especially if accompanied by fever and / or sore throat and mouth, stop using these suppositories and contact your doctor immediately.
These symptoms can, very rarely, be due to a strong reduction in the number of white blood cells (a condition called agranulocytosis), which make you more susceptible to developing serious infection. A blood test can confirm whether these symptoms are due to the effects of this medicine on your blood. It is important to inform your doctor of medicine.
The following adverse reactions have also been reported by patients using mesalazine:
Rare side effects (affects less than 1 in 1000 patients):
abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence (bloating), nausea and vomiting, constipation;
chest pain, shortness of breath or swelling of the limbs because of heart disorders.
Very rare side effects (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
changes in kidney function, sometimes with swollen limbs and pain in the groin;
severe abdominal pain due to inflammation of the pancreas;
fever, sore throat, malaise of blood dyscrasias;
shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, lung trove of shadows on X-ray due to allergic and / or inflammatory condition of the lungs;
severe diarrhea and abdominal pain because of allergic reaction to this medicine inside the colon;
rash or skin irritation;
muscle and joint pain;
jaundice or abdominal pain of liver or biliary disorders;
hair loss and baldness;
numbness and tingling in the hands and feet (peripheral neuropathy);
reversible decrease in sperm produced.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE SALOFALK 1 g of SUPPOSITORIES
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Salofalk 1 g of suppositories after the expiry date stated on the strip of suppositories and on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not store above 25 ° C.
Store in the original container to protect from light.
Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
