SIMGAL WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
The product can reduce the levels of cholesterol in the body , primarily by reducing its formation in the liver and by increasing the absorption of cholesterol from the general circulation . It reduces more "bad " LDL- cholesterol, and fatty substances called triglycerides and increases "good " HDL- cholesterol, which plays an important role in the absorption of cholesterol from the circulation and its transport to the liver. Low-fat diet and the use of Simgal regulate levels of commitment dietary cholesterol formation in the body.
The product is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels when the effect of diet and other measures such as exercise and weight reduction has been proven to be ineffective.
It is also used to reduce complications in patients suffering from atherosclerosis (hardening or clogging of the arteries) or diabetes , under normal or increased levels of cholesterol. The product is taken as a supplement to correct other risk factors or other control heart treatment.
The product may be administered to adults.
2 . Before taking SIMGAL
Do not take Simgal:
- If you are hypersensitive ( allergic ) to simvastatin or any other ingredients of Simgal
- If you have liver disease or have unexplained increases in liver enzymes
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding
- If you take some of these drugs : itraconazole and ketoconazole ( medicines in fungal infections ), HIV protease inhibitors ( drugs for the treatment of AIDS such as indinavir , nelfinavir , ritonavir , and saquinavir ), antibiotics ( erythromycin , clarithromycin, telithromycin) , nefazodone (a drug with depression) .
Please tell your doctor if you experience any of the above mentioned diseases or conditions during treatment with this product. Tell your doctor if you started making some of the above drugs during treatment with Simgal
Special care is needed when treated with Simgal:
Check with your doctor :
- If you have kidney problems
- If you have reduced thyroid function
- If you or any of your blood related family members have a hereditary muscle disease
- If you have had any of the side muscles (pain , weakness, cramps ) with a medicine of the statins ( lovastatin, fluvastatin, simvastatii , pravastatin ) or fibrates ( lipid-lowering medications such as fenofibrate, clofibrate , bezafibrate, ciprofibrate and gemfibrozil )
- If taking cyclosporin ( medicine suppressing the immune response in the body , which is mainly used in transplantation ) , other lipid lowering drugs ( fibrates , high doses of nicotinic acid - more than 1 g daily) , amiodarone (a drug in an irregular heartbeat) , or verapamil diltiazem (drugs used to treat high blood pressure , irregular heartbeat , and pain in the chest wall ) .
- If you have to perform some surgery
- If you are over age 70
- In the case of alcohol abuse
Simgal not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years, as in these cases has not been established efficacy and safety of the product.
Adoption of Simgal with food and drink :
Grapefruit juice can change the metabolism of certain drugs including Simgal. Therefore, consuming grapefruit juice should be avoided during treatment with the product.
The product should not be used during pregnancy. Pregnant women aged when they give birth can take the product only if they use a reliable contraceptive and is highly unlikely to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment with Simgal stop taking the product immediately and talk to your doctor.

Woman treated with Simgal should not breastfeed.

Simgal may rarely cause dizziness. If you had a problem , consult with your doctor before you start doing some of these activities.

If you talked to your doctor that you have intolerance to some sweeteners , contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
Taking other medicines:
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those not prescribed . Co-administration of these drugs with Simgal increases the risk of severe muscle disorders. Simgal may increase the efficacy of drugs for blood thinners (warfarin , ethyl biskumatsetat ) and thus increase the risk of bleeding.
3 . HOW TO TAKE SIMGAL
Simgal always take exactly as directed by your doctor.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The usual starting dose is 10-20 mg simvastatin daily in patients with high cholesterol levels take it as a single dose in the evening . Your doctor may recommend a higher starting dose necessary cases. Patients at high risk of coronary heart disease ( heart disease characterized by insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle ) is applied usually 20-40 mg simvastatin as a single daily dose in the evening to the start of treatment . Your doctor may adjust the starting dose according to need a maximum of 80 mg daily.
The doctor may prescribe a lower dose , especially if you have been taking other drugs such as cyclosporine, fibrates , nicotinic acid , amiodarone and verapamil or have severe renal impairment . Take Simgal as long as your doctor has told .
If you have been taking resins (cholestyramine , colestipol ) cholesterol lowering with Simgal, it Simgal dose should be administered at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after application of the resins .
If you have the impression that the effect of Simgal is too strong or too weak , talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you are taking more Simgal, than you should
If you are taking more Simgal, than you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Simgal
Do not double the dose if you forget to take different doses.
Effects when treatment with Simgal stop :
Cholesterol levels may rise again after stopping the drug.
4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
As with all medications , Simgal may have side effects. Side effects are usually mild and transient. Rarely can occur following side effects : anemia , headache , impaired sense of touch as a burning or itching, vertigo , peripheral nerve damage , disorders of the gastrointestinal . tract ( constipation, stomach pain , flatulence, heartburn , diarrhea, nausea , vomiting ), inflammation of the pancreas , jaundice , rash , itching, hair loss , muscle disorders (pain and muscle weakness , fatigue, cramps ), common fatigue and increases in liver enzymes. Are seldom seen even allergic reactions and some of the following side effects : arthralgia , edema , increased sensitivity to sunlight , chills, flushing, breathing difficulty and discomfort .
If any of these occur or have any other unusual symptoms and sensations contact your doctor as soon as possible . If you notice muscle disorders such as pain, weakness or fatigue in the muscles or any signs of an allergic reaction , call your doctor. If you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Keep out of reach of children .
