SEFPOTEK 200 mg. 14 tablets
The name of your medicine is SEFPOTEK 200 mg film-coated tablets. Each tablet contains 260.90 proksetil cefpodoksim mg, equivalent to 200 mg cefpodoksim.
The active substance cefpodoksim is an antibiotic that is used to kill the bacteria that cause infection in your body. Cefpodoksim belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins.
Your medicine is used to treat infections of the ears, sinuses, throat, chest and lung, caused by bacteria. It may be indicated for infections such as bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media or pneumonia. Can be used to treat skin infections, infections of the urinary system (cystitis and kidney infections) and sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea).
2. What you need to know before you take SEFPOTEK
Do not take SEFPOTEK:
If you are allergic to cefpodoksim or antibiotics, including Penicillins or cephalosporins or any of the other ingredients of this medication (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you have allergies, especially to cephalosporins, Penicillins, or similar antibiotics. If you develop an allergic reaction to cefpodoksim proksetil, doctor to the treatment.
Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe, permanent and/or bloody diarrhea during or after treatment with tablets. This may be a sign of serious intestinal infection (pseudomembranous colitis), which may occur after treatment with antibiotics, and to impose a suspension of treatment and initiation of specific therapy.
Intake of other drugs
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, you have recently taken or may take other medications, since some of them would be able to interact with SEFPOTEK.
Notify your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines because they can interact with the SEFPOTEK:
Antacids used to treat indigestion;
drugs to treat ulcers;
Diuretics used to increase urine output as well;
drugs used to prevent kidney damage.
Antiacidnite medicine and protivoâzvenoto treatment should be applied 2-3 hours after taking the pill SEFPOTEK. In such cases, your doctor may change the treatment if deemed necessary.
If you need to make your tests (blood, urine or diagnostic test of Coomb) while taking this medication, tell your doctor that you are taking SEFPOTEK.
SEFPOTEK with food and drinks
You always have to take the pills with food, since it provides for their action.
Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you think you may be pregnant or planning pregnancy, ask your doctor before using this medication.
Nursing mothers should not use SEFPOTEK.
Immediately consult your doctor in case that you are breastfeeding.
Driving and operating machinery
There are known cases of dizziness. If you feel dizzy, you should not drive, work with machinery or participate in activities that could put You at risk.
3. How to take SEFPOTEK
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure of something, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Your doctor will tell you how many pills to take, what time to take the tablets and how long to take them.
The recommended dosage is:
Throat infections: 100 mg twice a day;
Sinus infections: 200 mg twice a day;
Infections of the chest and the lung: 200 mg twice a day;
Urinary tract infections, eg. cystitis: 100 mg twice a day;
Kidney infections: 200 mg twice a day;
Skin infections: 200 mg twice a day;
Sexually transmitted infections, gonorrhea: 200 mg single dose.
It is important to take your medicine at the right time of the day. Always take the pills with food, because food provides the effect of tablets.

If you take more than the required dose SEFPOTEK
If you take more than the required dose of this medicine, talk to your doctor immediately or go to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. You may experience the following side effects: confusion, lack of emotion, excitement or interest.
If you forget to take SEFPOTEK
If you forget to take a dose of this medication at the proper time, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you stop taking the SEFPOTEK
It is important to take this medication until you finish the prescribed course of treatment.
