Ropinirole 1 mg. 21 tablets
The active substance in Ropinirole Accord is ropinirole, which belongs to a group of medicines called dopamine agonists. Dopamine agonists affect the brain in a manner similar to the natural substance dopamine.
Accord Ropinirole is used to treat Parkinson's disease.
People with Parkinson's disease have low concentrations of dopamine in certain areas of their brains. Ropinirole has effects similar to those of natural dopamine, so it helps to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
Ropinirole Accord is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe restless legs syndrome.
Patients with moderate to severe restless legs syndrome usually complain of difficulty sleeping or severe discomfort in the legs or arms.
Patients with restless leg syndrome have an irresistible urge to move the legs and sometimes the arms and other parts of the body. They usually have an uncomfortable feeling in the legs (sometimes described as tingling, burning sensation) that happens during breaks or during periods of inactivity when sitting or lying down (especially during sleep) and worse in the evening or night. Walking or moving the affected limb is usually the only relief, which often affects sleep.
Accord Ropinirole relieves discomfort and reduces the desire to move the legs or other limbs.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE ropinirole ACCORD
If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, talk to him / her before you start taking this medicine.
Do not take Ropinirole Accord
If you are allergic (hypersensitive to ropinirole or any of the other ingredients of Ropinirole Accord (see. Paragraphs 4 and 6);
If you have serious kidney disease;
If you have liver disease.
Tell your doctor if you think any of these may apply to you.
Take special care with Ropinirole Accord.
Your doctor needs to know before taking Ropinirole Accord:
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant;
If you are breastfeeding;
If you are under 18 years of age;
If you have a serious heart complaint;
If you have a serious mental health problem;
If you have experienced unusual impulses and / or behaviors (such as excessive penchant for gambling or increased sexual desire);
If you are intolerant to some sugars (such as lactose);
Tell your doctor if you think any of these apply to you. Your doctor may decide that Ropinirole Accord is not suitable for you, or that you need extra check-ups while taking it.
While taking Ropinirole Accord
Tell your doctor if you or your family notice that you develop any unusual behaviors (such as an unusual urge to gamble or increased sexual acts and / or behaviors) while you are taking Ropinirole Accord. Your doctor may adjust or stop your dose.
Driving and using machines
Ropinirole Accord may make you feel sleepy. It can make people feel very sleepy and sometimes fall asleep very suddenly without warning.
If you experience these effects, do not drive, operate machinery or do not put in any situation where sleepiness or falling asleep may put you (or other people) at risk of serious injury or death. Do not participate in these activities, while not overcome these effects.

Smoking and Ropinirole Accord
Tell your doctor if you start smoking or quit smoking while taking Ropinirole Accord. Your doctor may adjust your dose.
Taking other medicines:
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including any herbal medicines or medicines obtained without a prescription. Be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you begin taking a new medicine while taking Ropinirole Accord.
Some medicines can affect the way you act Ropinirole Accord or are more likely to get side effects. Ropinirole Accord may affect the way other medicines work. These include:
drug for other mental problems, such as sulpiride;
HRT (hormone replacement therapy);
metoclopramide, that is used to treat nausea and heartburn;
antibiotics ciprofloxacin or enoxacin;

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any of these drugs.
Adoption of Ropinirole Accord with food and drink

Pregnancy and lactation

3. HOW TO TAKE ropinirole ACCORD
Always take Ropinirole Accord exactly as you have been told by your doctor. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Ropinirole Accord can be given to you alone to treat your symptoms of Parkinson's disease, or you may be given Ropinirole Accord together with another medicine called L-dopa (also called levodopa).
Do not give Ropinirole Accord children. Ropinirole Accord is not usually prescribed to persons under 18 years of age.
How Ropinirole Accord have to take?
You may take some time to find out which is the best dose for you Ropinirole Accord.
The usual starting dose is 0,25 mg ropinirole three times each day for the first week. Then your doctor will increase your dose each week for the next three weeks. Then your doctor will gradually increase the dose until you are taking the dose that is best for you.
The usual dosage is 1 mg to 3 mg three times daily (total daily dose of 3 mg to 9 mg). If your symptoms of Parkinson's disease have not improved enough, your doctor may decide to permanently increase the dose. Some people take up to 8 mg of Ropinirole Accord three times a day (total of 24 mg daily).
If you take other medicines to treat Parkinson's disease, your doctor may advise you to gradually reduce the dose of the other drug. If you are taking levodopa, you might have some uncontrolled movements (dyskinesias) when you first take Ropinirole Accord. Tell your doctor if this happens, as it may adjust the dose of medicines you are taking.
Restless Legs Syndrome
You may take some time to find out which is the best dose of ropinirole Accord for you.
The initial dose is 0,25 mg once daily. After two days your doctor will probably increase the dose to 0,5 mg once daily until the end of the first week of your treatment. Then your physician may increase the dose of 0,5 mg per week for 3 weeks to 2 mg per day.
If improvement in your symptoms is insufficient dose of 2 mg per day, your doctor may increase the dose to a maximum of 4 mg per day. After 3 months of treatment with the Accord, depending on your symptoms and your general health, your doctor will adjust your dose or discontinue your treatment.
If you feel that the effects of Ropinirole Accord are too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take a higher dose than prescribed.
Even if you do not feel better, continue to take Ropinirole Accord so as advised by your doctor. It may take several weeks until the drug begins to act.

Taking your dose of Ropinirole Accord
Take Ropinirole Accord three times daily.
Swallow the tablet (s) Ropinirole Accord whole with a glass of water. It is best to take Ropinirole Accord with food, because it is less likely you sick (nausea).

Immediately contact your doctor or pharmacist. If possible, show them the pack of Ropinirole Accord.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Ropinirole Accord can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Side effects of Ropinirole Accord may occur in patients who undergo this treatment for the first time and / or when the dose is increased. These side effects are mild and can spontaneously lose weight after taking this medicine for several days. Tell your doctor if you experience any side effects that worry you.

mental problems such as delirium (severe confusion), delusions (unreasonable ideas) or paranoia (unreasonable suspicions).
Very rare side effects:
A small number of people taking Ropinirole Accord (up to 1 in 10 000) had a change in liver function (elevated enzymes) found during a blood test.
Some patients may have the following side effects
allergic reactions such as red, itchy bumps on the skin (hives), swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat that may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing, rash or intense itching (see. point 2);

5. HOW TO STORE ropinirole ACCORD
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Ropinirole Accord after the expiry date stated on the carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
