What is Roaccutane?
Roaccutane contains the active ingredient isotretinoin.
Oval, opaque pale red-violet and white with the inscription "ROA 20" containing 20 mg isotretinoin.
Isotretinoin belongs to the group of drugs known as retinoids, which are generally used to treat skin disorders.
Capsules contain inactive ingredients: Yellow beeswax, refined soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil. The capsule shell contains: gelatin, glycerol, Carrion 83 (sorbitol, mannitol, hydrogenated starch hydrolysates) and colors: titanium dioxide pigment canthaxanthin E171 and E161 (gelatin, peanut butter, canthaxanthin, ascorbyl palmitate, alpha-tocopherol and silicon).
The capsules are blister packs of 30 and 100 units.
What used Roaccutane?
This drug is used to treat acne , in particular in patients who have not responded to other treatments . Implementation of Roaccutane should be done under the supervision of a dermatologist ( a specialist in the treatment of skin diseases) .
Roaccutane is not used to treat acne , is developed prior to puberty.
When you must not use Roaccutane?
- If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant .
- If you have liver or kidney disease.
- If you are breastfeeding .
- If you are taking antibiotics called tetracyclines .
- If you are allergic to Roaccutane or any component of the product.
- If you are taking high doses of vitamin A or have high levels of cholesterol or triglyceride ( fat -like compound ) in the blood .
If you are allergic to peanut or soya . Roaccutane containing peanut oil and soybean oil.
When you need to be especially careful during treatment with Roaccutane?
Be sure to tell your doctor if:
You or members of your family have a history of high cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood. Your doctor may decide to do some blood tests to check liver and blood before, during and after your treatment.
You or members of your family have diabetes . Roaccutane can increase blood sugar levels , so your doctor can monitor it during your treatment.
- You regularly drink large amounts of alcohol.
- Data have been spent in the past depression.
Isotretinoin can increase the blood levels of fat-like substances , in some patients . Therefore, while on treatment , it is better not to drink alcoholic beverages or at least reduce the amount you drink normally . If your doctor finds that you have high triglyceride levels while taking this medicine , it may be necessary to reduce the dose of Roaccutane and switching to a diet low in fat.
Do not take more than the recommended daily dose of vitamin A contained in food ( ie 4000 to 5000 international units). If you take vitamins , check the label how much vitamin A they contain . If you are unsure , check with your doctor or pharmacist.
If you get severe diarrhea , stop taking Roaccutane and contact your doctor.
This medicine may affect your night vision and you can feel dry eye or vision problems , but they rarely continue after the end of treatment. How to take Roaccutane?
- Always take the capsules as prescribed by your doctor way.
- Your doctor will decide the right dose for you. After a few weeks, the doctor may change the dose . This will depend on the effect. What are the possible side effects of treatment with Roaccutane?
- Dryness should expect dry skin, especially the lips and face , and your lips may be inflamed or chapped , you may get a rash , mild itching and slight peeling .
