RIVOTRIL WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Clonazepam, the active ingredient of Rivotril belongs to the group of benzodiazepines and has expressed attributes to control the seizures. Effects of Rivotril occurs after 30 to 60 minutes.

BEFORE YOU TAKE RIVOTRIL
Do not take Rivotril:
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzodiazepines, clonazepam or to any of the other ingredients of Rivotril;
If you suffer from severe, chronic lung disease;
if you are in severe shock;
If you are dependent on other drugs or alcohol;
if you have alcohol poisoning or poisoning by other drugs in the group of antiepileptic (anti-seizure), sleeping pills and pain killers, neuroleptics (anti-psychotic and other psychiatric disorders), antidepressants (for depression) and lithium.
Take special care with Rivotril
If signs of anaphylactic shock (that means cold sweat, shortness of breath, tachycardia - rapid heart beat), have immediately seek medical attention;
if you have heart disease and / or respiratory disorders or serious illness of the respiratory organs;
if you have dysfunctions of the liver;
If you suffer from myasthenia gravis (a disease in which there is muscle weakness);
if you have a motor conduction (spinal or cerebral ataxia);
If you suffer from apnea during sleep (respiratory disease states during sleep in relation to loud snoring);
If your body is weak or are elderly;
if you are dependent on alcohol or drugs, if you are depressed or have attempted suicide.
For longer term treatment in large doses may cause drug dependence in patients.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. The action of certain drugs can strengthen or weaken when used together with Rivotril. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking Rivotril, and at the same time taking the following medicines. Concurrent use of Rivotril other compounds acting depressant of the central nervous system can lead to increased mutual reinforcement effects. To this group belong: sedatives and sleeping drugs, medicines to treat depression and treatment of seizures, certain drug to treat fever or allergies, certain painkillers and drugs. When used alone, alcohol can suppress seizures.
Taking Rivotril with food and drink
If taken together with Rivotril, alcohol may modify the drug to kompromenira treatment and cause occurrence of adverse reactions.
Pregnancy and lactation

HOW TO TAKE RIVOTRIL
Always take Rivotril exactly as your doctor tells you. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Your doctor will tell you what time of day you should take the tablets. He / she shall determine your dose and duration of treatment. Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor and do not change the prescribed dosage. If you think you Rivotril act weak or strong, tell your doctor.
To prevent adverse events at baseline daily dose is increased gradually over 1 to 3 weeks until the required maintenance dose.
Infants and children up to 10 years or 30 kg body weight:
Initial dose: daily 0,01 - 0,03 mg / kg, divided into 2-3 doses. The dose should not be increased more than 0,25 - 0,5 mg / kg every third day until you reach the maintenance dose of 0,1 mg / kg. The maximum daily dose for children is 0,2 mg / kg and should not be exceeded.
Children 10 to 16 years:
Rivotril tablets 0.5 mg: Initial dose: 2-2 tablets daily, divided into 2-3 doses. This dose may be increased every third day until a maintenance dose of 6 to 12 tablets daily.
Rivotril tablets 2 mg: Initial dose: daily 1/2 - 3/4 tablet in 2-3 divided doses. This dose may be increased every third day until a maintenance dose of 1 or 1/2 to 3 tablets daily.
Rivotril tablets 0.5 mg: The starting dose should be 3 tablets a day - in three divided doses. The dose may be increased to two tablets every third day until a maintenance dose of 6 to 12 tablets daily.
Rivotril tablets 2 mg: The starting dose should be 3/4 tablet daily - in three divided doses. The dose may be increased by 1/2 tablet every third day until a maintenance dose of 11/2 to 3 tablets daily.
During maintenance therapy, the daily dose may be taken at one time in the evening. For some patients, the doctor determines higher doses.
Special dosage instructions
Your doctor will determine the dosage of Rivotril:
If you must take both and other anti-seizure drugs (AEDs);
if you have liver disease or organic brain syndrome;
if you are too old or do not feel well.
If you take an overdose of Rivotril

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Rivotril may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Furthermore, it may be depressed, but may be caused by epilepsy.

HOW TO STORE RIVOTRIL
Keep out of reach of children.
Keep the bottle in the outer carton to protect from light. Rivotril Do not use after the expiry date stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Residual can return to the pharmacy.
The active substance is clonazepam.
The other ingredients are:
Rivotril tablets of 0,5 mg: lactose, corn starch, potato starch, pregelatinized, iron oxide red (E172), iron oxide yellow (E172), talc, magnesium stearate.
Rivotril tablets 2 mg: lactose, starch, pregelatinized, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

Rivotril 0.5 mg tablets are round, pale orange, imprinted with Roche 0,5 on one side and scored on the other side. One pack contains one glass bottle with 50 tablets.
Rivotril 2 mg tablets are round, white, imprinted with Roche 2 on one side and a cruciform scored on the other side. One pack contains one glass bottle with 30 tablets.
