WHAT PIOGLITAZONE ACCORD AND WHAT IT IS USED
Pioglitazone Accord containing pioglitazone. Pioglitazone Accord is antidiabetic medicine used to treat type 2 (non- insulin dependent) diabetes mellitus. This is diabetes , which usually occurs in adults .
Pioglitazone Accord helps control the level of sugar in your blood when you have type 2 diabetes by helping the body better use the insulin it produces . Your doctor will check whether Pioglitazone Accord act 3 to 6 months after you start taking it.
Accord Pioglitazone can be used alone or in combination with metformin and / or sulfonylurea derivatives , which are also oral antidiabetics .
Accord Pioglitazone can be used in combination with insulin .

2 . WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE taking pioglitazone ACCORD
Do not take Pioglitazone Accord :
If you are hypersensitive (allergic ) to pioglitazone or any of the other ingredients of Pioglitazone Accord ;
If you have or if you have had heart failure ;
If you have liver disease;
If you have diabetic ketoacidosis (a complication of diabetes causing rapid weight loss , nausea or vomiting);
If you have or have had bladder cancer ;
If you have blood in the urine , which was not investigated by your doctor.
Warnings and Precautions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pioglitazone Accord :
If you retain water ( fluid retention) or if you have had problems with heart failure , especially if you are over 75 years ;
If you have a special type of diabetic eye disease called macular edema ( swelling of the back of the eye) ;
If you have ovarian cysts (polycystic ovarian syndrome ) . There is an increased chance of getting pregnant because you may ovulate again when taking Pioglitazone Accord . If this applies to you, use appropriate contraception to avoid unplanned pregnancy ;
If you have any problems with the liver and heart. Before you start taking Pioglitazone Accord should do blood tests to check the function of your liver . This check may be repeated periodically . Some patients with type 2 diabetes with long-standing, heart disease or previous stroke who were treated with insulin and Pioglitazone Accord of heart failure . Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you experience signs of heart failure such as unusual shortness of breath or rapid increase in weight or localized swelling ( edema).
If you take Pioglitazone Accord with other medicines for diabetes, it is likely that your blood sugar to drop below normal levels (hypoglycemia ) .
When you can appear and reduce the number of blood cells ( anemia).

Broken Bones
There is a large number of bone fractures in women (but not in men ) taking pioglitazone . Your doctor will take this into account when treating your diabetes .

Children and adolescents
Use in patients under 18 is not recommended.

Other medicines and Pioglitazone Accord
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking , have recently taken or might take other medicines.
In most cases, you will be able to continue to take other medicines during treatment with Pioglitazone Accord .
However , it is likely some of these drugs affect the amount of sugar in your blood :
gemfibrozil (used to lower cholesterol) ;
rifampicin (for the treatment of tuberculosis and other infections) .
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines. Your blood sugar will be checked and your dose of Pioglitazone Accord may need to change.

Taking Pioglitazone Accord with food and drink
You can take your tablets with or without food. You should swallow the tablets with a glass of water.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility :
Tell your doctor if:
are pregnant or think you may be pregnant , and if you are planning to become pregnant;
breast-feeding or plan to breast-feed your baby.
Your doctor will advise you to stop treatment with this medicine.

Driving and using machines:
Pioglitazone Accord will not affect your ability to drive and use machines but take care if you experience changes in vision .

Important information about some of the ingredients of Pioglitazone Accord :
This medicinal product contains lactose monohydrate. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

3 . HOW TO ACCORD taking pioglitazone
You should take Pioglitazone Accord once a day following the advice of your doctor.
If necessary , your doctor may prescribe you to take a different dose.
If you think that the effect of Pioglitazone Accord is too weak, talk to your doctor.
Pioglitazone Accord When used in combination with other drugs used to treat diabetes ( such as insulin , chlorpropamide , glibenclamide , gliclazide, tolbutamide ) . Your doctor will tell you whether you need a smaller dose of your medicines .
Your doctor will ask you to have blood tests during treatment with Pioglitazone Accord . This is to check that your liver is working properly.
If you follow a diet as a diabetic , you should continue with this while taking Pioglitazone Accord . Your weight should be regularly checked . If weight increases , please tell your doctor.

If you take more dose Pioglitazone Accord
Your blood sugar may fall below normal levels. If you take more than the required number of tablets or someone else , or child takes your medicine , please tell your doctor or pharmacist. Your blood sugar may be increased by taking sugar . It is recommended to carry sugar lumps , sweets, biscuits or sugar-sweetened fruit juice.

If you forget to take Pioglitazone Accord
Take Pioglitazone Accord as prescribed. If you miss a dose, continue with the next dose as usual . Do not take two doses in one day.

If you stop taking Pioglitazone Accord
Pioglitazone Accord must be taken every day to be effective. If you stop taking Pioglitazone Accord , your blood sugar may be increased. Tell your doctor before stopping this treatment.

If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Pioglitazone Accord can cause side effects vapreki that not everyone gets them.
Observed the following serious side effects:
Patients receiving pioglitazone Accord in combination with insulin is often observed heart failure (1 to 10 patients in 100). Symptoms are unusual shortness of breath, a rapid increase in weight or localized swelling ( edema) . If you have any of these symptoms , especially if you are over 65, seek medical attention immediately ;
Bladder cancer is uncommon (1 to 10 patients in 1000 ) in patients taking pioglitazone. Signs and symptoms include blood in the urine , pain during urination or a sudden urge to urinate . If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your doctor as soon as possible;
Localized swelling ( edema) is also very frequently observed adverse reactions in patients receiving pioglitazone in combination with insulin. If you have this side effect , talk as soon as possible with your doctor ;
Broken bones is frequently reported adverse reactions (1 to 10 patients in 100) in women taking Pioglitazone Accord . If you have this side effect, tell your doctor immediately ;
Blurred vision due to swelling ( or fluid) in the back of the eye ( not known ) has also been reported in patients taking Pioglitazone Accord . If you have these symptoms for the first time , tell your doctor as soon as possible. Moreover, if you already have blurred vision and symptoms worsen , inform your doctor as soon as possible .
Other side effects that have been observed in some patients taking pioglitazone are:
Common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100):
respiratory tract infection ;
visually impaired ;
weight gain ;
numbness .
Uncommon ( affects 1 to 10 users in 1000 ):
inflammation of the sinuses ( sinusitis ) ;
insomnia ( insomnia) .
Not known ( data can not be estimated ):
increase in liver enzymes.
Other side effects that have been observed in some patients taking pioglitazone with other drugs for the treatment of diabetes are:
Very common (affecting more than 1 in 10 patients):
low blood sugar ( hypoglycemia) .
Common (affects 1 to 10 users in 100):
headache ;
dizziness ;
joint pain ;
impotence ;
blood in the urine ;
back pain ;
shortness of breath ;
a slight reduction in the number of red blood cells;
flatulence .
Uncommon ( affects 1 to 10 users in 1000 ):
sugar in the urine proteins in the urine;
elevated enzymes; vertigo ( vergigo ) ;
sweating ;
fatigue ;
increased appetite .
If you get any side effects , please tell your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.

5 . HOW TO STORE PIOGLITAZONE ACCORD
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Pioglitazone Accord after the expiry date stated on the blister and carton after { abbreviation used to mark the expiry date } . The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions .
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

What does Pioglitazone Accord
The active substance is pioglitazone .
Pioglitazone Accord 15 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 15 mg pioglitazone (pioglitazone) as pioglitazone hydrochloride (pioglitazone hydrochloride).
Pioglitazone Accord 30 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 30 mg pioglitazone (pioglitazone) as pioglitazone hydrochloride (pioglitazone hydrochloride).
Pioglitazone Accord 45 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 45 mg pioglitazone (pioglitazone) as pioglitazone hydrochloride (pioglitazone hydrochloride).

Excipients:
Lactose monohydrate , carmellose calcium, hydroxypropylcellulose and magnesium stearate.

Pioglitazone Accord looks like and contents of the pack
Pioglitazone Accord 15 mg tablets: White to off-white, about 5,0 mm round, biconvex, uncoated tablets debossed with "P " on one side and "15 " on the other side.
Pioglitazone Accord 30 mg tablets: White to off-white, flat, about 7,0 mm round tablets, debossed "PIO" on one side and "30 " on the other .
