PROTOPIC  WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED

The active substance of Protopic  tacrolimus monohydrate is imunomodulator.Protopic ® 0,1% ointment is used to treat moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults who are not adequately responsive to or are intolerant of conventional therapies. In atopic dermatitis, an over the skin's immune system causes skin irritation (itching, redness, dryness). Protopic  altered abnormal immune response and relieves skin irritation and itching.
 

 BEFORE YOU USE PROTOPIC

 
Do not use Protopic
 
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to tacrolimus or any of the other ingredients of Protopic  or macrolide antibiotics (eg, azithromycin, clarithromycin, erythromycin). Take special care with Protopic  
Protopic  ointment is not approved for children under age 2. Therefore should not be used in this age group. Please consult with your doctor.
The safety of using Protopic  for a long time is not known. Very few people who have used Protopic  ointment have had malignancies (eg, skin or lymphoma). However, it is shown that there is a relationship to treatment with Protopic ® ointment. If you have an infected wound. Do not apply ointment to infected wounds.
If you have liver disease. Talk to your doctor before using Protopic . Talk to your doctor before using Protopic  if you have skin malignancies (tumors) or if you have a weakened immune system (immunocompromised), whatever the reason.
If you suffer from an inherited disease of the skin barrier, with Netherton's syndrome or generalized erythroderma (inflammatory redness and scaling of the entire skin). Talk to your doctor before using Protopic .
 
You should tell your doctor if you have swollen lymph nodes at initiation of treatment. If you have swollen lymph nodes during treatment with Protopic , talk to your doctor.
Before vaccination, tell your doctor that you are using Protopic . During treatment with Protopic  and some time after that should not be vaccinated. For live attenuated vaccines (eg measles, mumps, rubella vaccine or oral poliemielitna) waiting time is 28 days for inactivated vaccines (eg tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis or influenza) -14 days. Avoid prolonged exposure of the skin to sunlight or artificial sunlight such as tanning beds. If, after you have applied Protopic , need to be outdoors, use sunscreen and wear loose fitting clothing that protects the skin from the sun. In addition, ask your doctor about other suitable methods of sun protection. If you are prescribed light therapy, tell your doctor that you are using Protopic , since no concomitant use of Protopic  and light therapy. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes (inside the nose or mouth).
 

Taking or using other medicines or cosmetics

 
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
You can use moisturizing creams and lotions during treatment with Protopic , but they should be used at least 2 hours after Protopic .
The use of Protopic  concomitantly with other products applied on the skin or oral corticosteroids (eg cortisone) or medicines that affect your immune system is not prouchena.Predi vaccination tell your doctor that you are using Protopic  (see " Take special care with Protopic  ").
  
Always use Protopic  exactly as your doctor tells you. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Apply a thin layer of Protopic  on the affected areas of your kozha.Protopic  can be used on most parts of the body, including the face, neck and folds of elbows and knees.
 
Avoid use inside the nose, mouth or eyes. If he gets in any of these areas should be wiped off and / or rinsed off with water.
 
The treated skin should be covered with bandages or wraps. 
Wash your hands after applying Protopic , unless your hands are being treated.
Before applying Protopic  after a bath or shower, be sure your skin is completely dry. 
In adults (16 years and older) is offering two concentrations Protopic  (Protopic  0,03% and Protopic  0,1% ointment). Your doctor will decide which one is best for you. Treatment usually begins with Protopic  0,1% ointment twice daily, once in the morning and once at night until the eczema has cleared. If symptoms recur, should be resumed treatment with Protopic ® 0,1% twice daily. Depending on the response of your eczema, your doctor will decide whether to reduce the frequency of application or to continue with the lower strength Protopic  0,03% ointment.
 
Each affected area of your skin as eczema subsides. Improvement is usually seen within one week. If after two weeks there is no improvement, you should ask your doctor about other possible treatments. Protopic  treatment can be repeated if symptoms reappear.
 
If you accidentally swallow the ointment 
If you accidentally swallow the ointment should immediately consult your doctor. Do not try to induce vomiting.
If you forget to use Protopic
 
If you forget to apply the ointment in the time, do it as soon as you remember and then continue as before.

 POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS


 

Like all medicines, Protopic  can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
 
About half of patients using Protopic , receive some type of skin irritation | application site. Burning sensation and itching are very common (> 10%). These symptoms are usually mild to moderate and resolved one week after using Protopic ®. Other common (> 1%) side effects are redness, heat sensation, pain, increased skin sensitivity (in particular | to hot and cold), skin tingling, rash, folliculitis (inflammation or infection of hair | follicles) and herpes viral infections (eg, herpes febrile, generalized infections of herpes \ simplex). Flushing or skin irritation after drinking alcohol are also common. Acne is | an uncommon side effect. Also reports of rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis. Since it is available in the market, very few people use Protopic  ointment have had malignancies (eg, skin or lymphoma). Relationship to treatment with Protopic  ointment has not been confirmed or refuted on the available evidence so far. If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
 
 

 STORAGE PROTOPIC

 
Keep out of reach of children.
 
Do not use Protopic  after the expiry date stated on the tube and carton "EXP." The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
 
Do not store above 25 ° C. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Protopic

 
The active substance is tacrolimus monohydrate.
 
One gram of Protopic  0,1% ointment contains 1,0 mg tacrolimus (as tacrolimus monohydrate). The other ingredients are white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, propylene carbonate, white beeswax and hard paraffin.
