Immune System
Common: hypersensitivity reactions
Common Allergic skin reactions (itching, hives). Usually these events are not severe and usually disappear with continued treatment (see also Skin and subcutaneous tissue).
Uncommon: drug fever, liver damage (see also Hepatobiliary disorders).
Very rare: arthralgia (see also disorders of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue).
Nervous System
Rare: vertigo, neuromuscular disorders.
Vascular Disorders
Very rare: inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis) lupusopodoben syndrome (see below), periarteritis nodosa (see below), edema, especially in the extremities (peripheral edema).

Hepatobiliary disorders
Rare: liver problems, especially when using high doses.
Described are inflammatory liver damage with destruction of liver cells (liver reaction with necrosis of liver cells) and cholestasis (transient cholestasis). Usually these symptoms are reversible after cessation of treatment.
Very rare: few cases described severe liver failure induced by Propylthiouracil.
Musculo - skeletal system and connective tissue
Very rare: arthralgia without signs of inflammation.
Endocrine disorders
Very Rare: goiter formation in newborns.
Ear and labyrinth disorders
Very rare: in rare cases may cause hearing loss.
Research (laboratory results)
Very common: transient increases in enzymes indicative of liver function (transaminases).
Lupus erythematosus is a disease of the whole body (systemic disease), in which antibodies are formed against his own body (autoimmune disease), causing inflammatory reactions. The disease is allotropic and characterized by a variety of different ways of affecting the organs and systems.
Periarteriitis nodosa is a disease of the whole organism, which is manifested by inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis) and destruction of the arteries. Symptoms include fever, weight loss and kidney damage, heart and joints.

Emergence or worsening of eye disease (endocrine orbitopatiya), which can occur in patients with thyroid disease, independent of the course of thyroid disease, such complication is not grounds for a reassessment of the therapeutic approach and should not be treated as spam response to adequate treatment.
A small number of patients during treatment with 50 mg Propitsil may occur hypothyroidism. This is not a side effect of treatment, and inflammation of the thyroid tissue.
During antithyroid treatment should be permanent monitoring of thyroid function in order to avoid overdose. It is also necessary to control blood count, liver enzymes indicative of cholestasis enzymes.
