PRESID WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR ?
Pharmacotherapeutic group: vasodilators, antihypertensive agents.
Presid belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers . It lowers high blood pressure (hypertension ) by widening of the small blood vessels ( arterioles ) . At recommended doses, Presid not affect cardiac function . The drug substance of the prolonged release tablets is given a certain speed and thereby a constant effect is obtained throughout the day.
Presid is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension ), and for long-term treatment of angina pectoris ( pain in the chest and the heart caused by reduced blood supply to the heart muscle during physical or mental strain ) .
Medicinal product is intended for the treatment of adult patients.
2 . WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU USE PRESID?
Do not use the Presid
• If you are allergic to felodipine or any of the excipients of the Presid
• In a state of unstable angina (persistent chest pain, with greater intensity or present at rest ) ;
• When a heart attack ;
• At very low blood pressure;
• In severe heart failure ;
• During pregnancy .
Take special care before using Presid:
• Patients with severe narrowing of the aortic valve (aortic stenosis) .
Taking other medicines
Presid treatment may be effected with concomitant use of drugs for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease containing cimetidine or ranitidine, with concomitant treatment with certain antibiotics ( e.g. erythromycin) , barbiturates used to induce sleep , medications to prevent seizures ( phenytoin and carbamazepine ) and antifungals containing itraconazole and ketoconazole. Presid can affect the concentration of the substance tacrolimus ( a drug that is used for example after liver or kidney transplantation ) .
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you use these or other medicines if you used them recently , including those obtained without a prescription.
Use of Presid with food and drink
Grapefruit juice can affect treatment Presid ( may potentiate the effect of Presid) and therefore you should not consume grapefruit juice during treatment .
Pregnancy and lactation
Presid should not be used during pregnancy. Felodipine passes into breast milk , and because there are limited data on drug safety in infants , Presid should not be used during breastfeeding.
If pregnancy occurs during treatment with Presid, you should immediately inform your doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you start treatment with any drug.
Driving and using machines
Especially at the beginning of treatment or when increasing the dose , Presid can affect attention when driving vehicles or operating machinery. You can continue to perform these activities without the consent of your doctor.
Important information about some of the ingredients of the Presid
Presid contains lactose. If you are told by your doctor that you have intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before you start taking this medicine .
3 . HOW TO USE PRESID?
The exact dosage of the product should always be determined by the doctor.
Always take Presid exactly as you have specified your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Treatment of High Blood Pressure
Treatment usually begins with a dose of 5 mg (Presid 5 mg) once daily. If necessary, the dose may be increased or to add other drugs lowering blood pressure. The usual dose for long-term treatment is 5-10 mg (Presid 5 mg or Presid 10 mg) per day , the dose can be increased to a maximum of 20 mg per day . In elderly patients an initial dose of 2.5 mg (Presid 2.5 mg) daily may be sufficient.
Treatment generally begins at a dose of 5 mg (Presid 5 mg) once daily , the dose may be increased up to 10 mg (Presid 10 mg) once daily. In patients with impaired liver function, the treatment usually starts with a low dose (2.5 mg - i.e. Presid 2.5 mg once daily).
Take Presid morning before breakfast or a snack with some water. Prolonged-release tablets should be swallowed whole and not chewed . You should not divide or crush tablets .

If you take more than you need Presid , please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Presid
If you forget to take Presid, wait and take the next dose at the usual time.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines , Presid can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
Presid generally well tolerated and there are very few side effects . Most side effects occur early in treatment or after an increase in dose. If any side effects occur , they are usually temporary and disappear in a short period of time ( several days).
During treatment can be observed flushing, headache , palpitations, dizziness , fatigue, and swelling of the ankles. Patients with gingivitis may suffer from swelling of the gums. It can be prevented by careful oral hygiene . Rarely can be observed the following symptoms : rash ' and itching of the skin, rapid pulse and weakness, pain in joints and muscles , feeling warm , moist and insensitive skin , nausea and vomiting , abdominal pain , increased liver values , in frequent urination , fever , impotence or sexual dysfunction , hypersensitivity reactions , eg . rash similar to chickenpox or increased sensitivity of the skin when sunbathing. If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5 . HOW TO STORE PRESID?
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not store above 30 ° C.
Presid not use after the expiry date stated on the carton after the indication " EXP" indication " EXP" to the last day of that month.

What does Presid?
• The active ingredient (s) is felodipine 2.5 mg ( in Presid 2.5 mg), 5 mg ( in Presid 5 mg) and 10 mg ( in Presid10 mg) per tablet .
• The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose , hypromellose 2910/50 , hypromellose 2910/6 , 25, povidone , propyl , silicon dioxide, anhydrous , magnesium stearate , iron oxide yellow , iron oxide red ( in the tablets 5 mg and 10 mg) , talc , propylene glycol , titanium dioxide .
Presid looks like and contents of the pack ?
PRESID 2.5 mg: yellow, round , biconvex tablets with sustained release , " 2.5 " printed on one side of the tablet. PRESID 5 mg: Pale pink, round , biconvex tablets with sustained release , "5" printed on one side of the tablet. PRESID 10 mg: red- brown, round , biconvex tablets with sustained release , "10" printed on one side of the tablet.
Packing: 30 or 100 modified-release tablets . Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
