PRADAXA WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Pradaksa is a medicine used to prevent blood clots. It works by blocking a substance in the body that is involved in the formation of blood clots
Pradaksa used to prevent blood clots in the veins after knee or hip replacement.

BEFORE YOU TAKE PRADAKSA


Do not take Pradaksa:

If you are allergic to dabigatran etexilate, dabigatran or any of the other ingredients of Pradaksa
 If you have severely reduced kidney function
 If you are currently bleeding
 If you have a body in the body that increases the risk of serious bleeding
 If you have an increased tendency to bleed, which can be congenital, of unknown origin or caused by other drugs
 If you have severely reduced liver function or liver disease that may cause death
 If you are taking quinidine - medicine for irregular heartbeat
Take special care with Pradaksa
Inform your doctor if you have or have had any medical conditions or illnesses, especially any of those included in the following list:
 If you have liver disease, which is associated with changes in blood tests Pradaksa use is not recommended.
 If you have an increased risk of bleeding, which may be the case in the following situations:
 If you surgically sampled by tissue removal / biopsy / in recent months
 If you had a serious injury
If you are undergoing treatment, which may increase the risk of bleeding
 If you are taking anti-inflammatory drugs
 If you have a heart infection / bacterial endocarditis /
 If you have moderately impaired renal function
Pradaksa should not be used in children
 If you have a trabichna / catheters / back
In your back can be a tube, such as anesthesia or pain relief during or after surgery. If you have been prescribed Pradaksa after removing katerara, your doctor should examine you regularly.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those awarded without a prescription.
For example:
 Medicines to thin the blood
 NSAIDs
 St. John's Wort, rifampicin, verapamil, clarithromycin
 Amiodarone, verapamil
If you are taking medicines containing amiodarone or verapamil should be treated with less than 150 mg doaz Pradaksa because your risk of bleeding may be increased.
If you are taking medicines containing verapamil, and the function of your kidneys is reduced by more than half, you should be treated with a reduced dose of 75 mg Pradaksa because your risk of bleeding may be increased.
Taking Pradaksa with food and drink
Pradaksa can be taken with or without food.

Pregnancy and lactation

Pradaksa effects on pregnancy and the unborn child are not known. You should not take Pradaksa if you are pregnant unless your doctor tells you it is safe to do so. If you are a woman of childbearing potential should avoid becoming pregnant while taking Pradaksa. You should not breast-feed while taking Pradaksa.

HOW TO TAKE PRADAKSA

When removing Pradaksa capsule blister pack, please observe the following guidelines
 Take the capsules by peeling off the backing foil blister card
 Do not remove the capsules in blister foil
 Do not peel off the blister foil, before you have a capsule

When removing Predaksa capsule bottle, please observe the following guidelines:

 Press and turn to open the bottle.
Pradaksa generally recommended dose is 220 mg once daily.
If your kidney function is decreased by more than half, or are aged 75 years or more, the recommended dose is 150 mg once daily.
If you are taking medicines containing amiodarone or verapamil, the recommended dose is 150 mg once daily.
If you are taking medicines containing verapamil, and the function of your kidneys is reduced by more than half, you should be treated with a reduced dose of 75 mg Pradaksa because your risk of bleeding may be increased.

After knee replacement surgery:

You should begin treatment with Pradaksa within 1-4 hours after the operation, taking a single capsule. Then you should take 2 capsules once daily for a total of 10 days.

After hip replacement:

You should begin treatment with Pradaksa within 1-4 hours after the operation, taking a single capsule. Then you need to take 2 capsules once daily for a total of 28-35 days.
And both surgeries should not be initiated if there is bleeding from the operation site. If treatment can not be started the day after surgery, dosing should be initiated with 2 capsules once daily. Always Pradaksa exactly as you told your doctor. If you're not sure, ask your doctor. The capsule should be swallowed with water. It should not be chewed.
Transition from treatment Pradaksa to anticoagulant treatment given by injection
Do not start treatment with injectable anticoagulant within 24 hours after the last dose Pradaksa
Transition from treatment given by injection to treatment with anticoagulant Pradaksa
Stop injections and then start taking pradaksa at the time should be the next injection.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS


When using Pradaksa known following common and uncommon side effects:

Common - reducing the number of red blood cells, formation of hematoma, bleeding from a wound, decreased hemoglobin in the blood oozing from the wound, bruising after surgery, bruising as a result of injury, presence of blood in urine laboratory testing
Uncommon - bleeding, bleeding in the joints, reducing the number of platelets in the blood, nose bleeding, bleeding in the stomach or bowel bleeding hemorrhoids, rectal bleeding, blood in the urine, bleeding at the catheter into the vein, variations in liver function tests, bleeding from the incision operativinya.
