PIRACETAM 2400 mg. 20 sachets
This medicinal product belongs to the group of nootropic drugs. Improves disturbed brain function by acting on the central nervous system without any psychostimulatory or sedative effects.
Piracetam improves blood supply and metabolism in the brain, thereby restoring physical and mental functioning. Stimulates nerve-mental activity and improves memory, speech, vertigo and headaches, and helps concentrate attention.
Piracetam improves cognitive abilities after various brain damage such as: poisoning, forgetfulness due to vascular damage, restores oxygen deficiency.
The medicinal product is used in:
Treatment of cortical myoclonus (sudden involuntary muscle contractions), alone or in combination;
Treatment of vertigo (tinnitus and vertigo) and related disorders of the equilibrium, with the exception of dizziness of mental origin.
Treatment of dyslexia (impairment of reading ability) in combination with speech therapy.
2. What you need to know before you take Piracetam Adipharm
Do not take Piracetam Adipharm:
If you are allergic to piracetam or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
If you suffer from severe kidney failure;
If you have a brain haemorrhage;
If you suffer from Huntington's chorea (a genetic disease of the nervous system).

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Piracetam Adipharm:
The medicinal product should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. The recommended dose may be changed by your doctor;
Myoclonus patients should avoid abrupt discontinuation of treatment as this may result in generalized or myoclonic seizures.
Children and adolescents
The dose and duration of your child's medication is prescribed by your doctor.
Other Drugs and Piracetam Adipharm
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
In single cases of concomitant use of piracetam with thyroid extract - T3 and T4, sleep disturbance and irritability have been observed. There is no evidence of other interactions with other medicines.
Consult a doctor immediately in case of overdose or accidental overdose.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
This medicinal product is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless it is absolutely necessary to take it. The medicine passes through the placenta and reaches the fetus. Piracetam is excreted in the breast milk, therefore, during lactation, the medicinal product should be discontinued.
Driving and using machines
People who drive or operate machinery are alert to the risk of drowsiness, anxiety or nervousness when using this medicine.
Use in elderly patients:
In elderly patients, it is advisable to visit the doctor regularly to control the dose.
Piracetam Adipharm contains mannitol (E421)
This medicinal product contains the excipient mannitol (E421). At a dose of 6.5 g or more piracetam per day, mannitol may have a mild laxative effect.
3. How to take Piracetam Adipharm
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Piracetam Adipharm can be taken before, during or after a meal.
The recommended dose is:
Symptomatic treatment of psycho-organic syndromes (impairment of mental activity):
Treatment begins with daily doses of 4.8 g. This dosage is taken for several weeks, then reduced to 2.4 g. The dose is divided into 2-3 separate intakes.
Treatment of myoclonus (sudden involuntary muscle contractions):
The daily dose starts with 7.2 g and increases by 4.8 g every 3-4 days to reach a maximum intake of 24 g divided into 2-3 doses. If you are taking other similar anti-myoclonic drugs, treatment should be continued.
Treatment of vertigo
The daily dose recommended is from 2.4 g to 4.8 g divided into 2-3 doses.
Treatment of consequences of ischemic cerebrovascular accidents, especially aphasia
In chronic forms (established at least after 15 days) and in the sub-acute phase, the daily dose is from 4.8 g to 6 g.
Treatment of speech-based dyslexia in children from 8 to 13 years of age
The recommended daily dose in children over 8 years of age and adolescents is about 3.2 g divided into 2 doses.
Prophylaxis of Sickle Cell Crises
The daily dose is 160 mg / kg, divided into 4 doses. With a lower dose or irregularity, the crisis can be resumed.
In children over 3 years of age with sickle cell anemia, piracetam can be given in the regimen of recommended daily doses (mg / kg).
Dosage in patients with renal insufficiency
In patients with severe renal insufficiency, your doctor will determine your dose and dosage. The time interval between the individual receipts should not be less than 8 hours.
Mode of application
The contents of the sachet dissolve in a glass of water and stir well. It is taken regardless of meal times.
Duration of treatment
The duration of treatment is determined by your doctor. The optimal effect in the treatment of chronic diseases is achieved after 6 to 12 weeks.
It is recommended to allocate the daily dose from two to four doses.
If you take more Piracetam Adipharm than you should
If you accidentally or deliberately take a higher dose than the one mentioned in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Piracetam Adipharm
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose and take the medicine at the next intake.
If you stop taking Piracetam Adipharm
Discontinuation of piracetam should be discontinued - dose reduction of 2.4 g every 2 days. Otherwise, complaints may resume. If you need further information on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Psychiatric disorders: nervousness;
Nervous system disorders: hyperkinesia (increased activity).
Psychiatric disorders: depression, drowsiness;
General disorders: weakness;
Sleepiness, low attention - more pronounced at the beginning of treatment.
An undesirable effect was seen in adult patients receiving more than 2.4 g of piracetam per day. Controlled studies are less than 2%. With a dose reduction, these symptoms generally disappear.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Upper abdominal pain as well as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
Nervous system disorders: equilibrium disturbances, lack of coordination in movement, increased epilepsy, insomnia, somnolence, headache;
Psychiatric disorders: confusion, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety;

Piracetam Adipharm is a white or almost white powder.
Piracetam Adipharm 2400 mg powder for oral solution is packed in sachets of paper / aluminum / polyethylene, placed in cardboard boxes.
