OSPAMOKS WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Ospamoks is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of penicillins. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria which are sensitive to amoxicillin .

Ospamoks used for treatment of :
infections of the ears, nose, throat and sinuses ;
respiratory infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia ;
infections of the bladder ;
Prevention of cardiac infections in operation in the oral cavity or throat ;
Lyme disease in infancy (at the tick bite ) ;
Gastric ulcer caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori ( H. Pylori).

2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE OSPAMOKS
Do not take Ospamoks :
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to amoxicillin , penicillin , cephalosporins or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (see additional information in Section 6) .

Take special care with Ospamoks
If you suffer from :
Renal Disease . You may need your doctor to adjust the dose ;
Infectious mononucleosis ( a viral infection) or leukemia may have an increased risk of skin reactions ;
Seizures ( epilepsy ): you may have an increased risk of seizures ;
Catheter in the bladder. In this case, drink plenty of water to prevent the formation of crystals in the urine. This medicine may also alter the results of tests for sugar in the blood or urine. If you have diabetes and regularly examine urine or blood , please tell your doctor. This is necessary because it may be necessary to use other tests.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Some medicines can cause problems if you take them together with Ospamoks .

Caution should be exercised when administered with the following drugs :
allopurinol (for gout) : may increase the risk of developing allergic skin reactions;
methotrexate ( in the treatment of arthritis ): the toxicity of methotrexate can be increased ;
digoxin ( to treat certain heart conditions ): may increase absorption ;
anticoagulants (to prevent blood clots ) such as warfarin : may increase risk of bleeding ;
oral contraceptives: risk to reduce the effect of the contraceptive pill.

Taking Ospamoks with food and drink
You can take Ospamoks before , during or after meals.

Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine .
Data from a limited number of cases of use of amoxicillin during pregnancy did not show adverse effects on pregnancy or on the health of the fetus or newborn. As a precaution , amoxicillin should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor has determined that the benefits of treatment outweigh possible risks.
Since small amounts of the drug passes into breast milk in some cases you may need to stop breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines
It is not known that this drug affects the ability to drive or operate machinery.

3 . HOW TO TAKE OSPAMOKS
Always take Ospamoks exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets.

The usual dosage for adults and children weighing more than 40 kg is 750 mg to 3000 mg per day divided into two to three doses .
The usual dose for children weighing less than 40 kg is 40-90 mg / kg / day divided into two to three doses .

For prevention of heart infections :
In adults, 2000 - 3000 mg to 1 hour before surgery , in children , the recommended dose of 50 mg / kg.
Your doctor will tell you how long you should take the drug.

In patients with impaired renal function:
You may need your doctor to reduce the dosage .

If you take more dose Ospamoks
In case you have taken too much medicine ( overdose ) may want to consult with your doctor or go to hospital in the fastest way .

The most typical signs of overdose are: nausea , vomiting, diarrhea , abdominal pain .

If you forget to take Ospamoks
If you forget to take a dose, it should be taken as soon as you remember it . Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you stop taking Ospamoks
Always take your medicine as long as you do your doctor prescribes , even if you feel better. If you stop taking too soon , the infection can be restored or causative become resistant to the drug.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Ospamoks can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
If you notice any of the following serious side effects, tell your doctor immediately or go to the hospital in the fastest way.

The following serious adverse reactions are rare (affects less than 1 in 1000 patients):
Sudden difficulty in breathing , speaking or swallowing ;
Painful swelling of the lips, tongue, face or neck ;
Excessive dizziness or collapse ;
Heavy or itchy skin rash , especially if bubbles or if burning eyes , mouth or genitals ;
Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes , or dark urine and lightening of the stool : it is a sign of liver problems.
The following side effects are very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
Diarrhea that is serious, lasts a long time or has blood: this may be a sign of serious bowel inflammation .
Other side effects during treatment :
The following side effects are common (affects less than 1 in 10 patients):
Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite , disturbance in the perception of taste , dry mouth , inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth ( enanthema ) , gas, diarrhea , soft stools. Most often, they are mild and usually disappear during or soon after treatment discontinuation. Complaints may be reduced by taking Ospamoks during meals ;
Urticaria, pruritus , skin rash " on the fifth day ," which resembles measles .
The following side effects are uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100 patients):
Secondary infections with resistant microorganisms and fungi ( such as fungi in the mouth or vagina ) ;
Moderate increase in liver enzymes .
The following side effects are rare (affects less than 1 in 1000 patients):
Increasing the number of certain white blood cells (eosinophilia ) , altered cleavage of red blood cells ( hemolytic anemia ) ;
Drug fever ;
Dizziness, hyperactivity, convulsions;
Surface discoloration of the teeth, which is usually removed with a toothbrush ;
Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice ;
Inflammation of the kidneys ( nephritis ) , crystals in the urine.
The following side effects are very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
Changes in blood count ( decreased number of red or white blood cells or platelets ), prolonged bleeding time . This can cause symptoms such as fever , sore throat , rash, nosebleeds or bruising . These events were reversible upon discontinuation of treatment ;
Blackening of the tongue.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet , please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5 . HOW TO STORE OSPAMOKS
Keep out of reach of children.
Ospamoks not use after the expiry date stated on the pack . The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not store above 25 ° C.
Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

6 . ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What does Ospamoks
The active substance is amoxicillin ( as trihydrate ) .

Ospamoks 500 mg film-coated tablets:
Each tablet contains 574 mg of amoxycillin trihydrate, which corresponds to 500 mg amoxycillin .

Ospamoks 1000 mg film-coated tablets:
Each tablet contains 1148 mg of amoxycillin trihydrate, which corresponds to 1000 mg amoxycillin .

Other ingredients are:
Core: magnesium stearate, polyvidone , sodium starch glycolate ( type A), of microcrystalline cellulose;
Film-coat : titanium dioxide, talc , hypromellose .

The film-coated tablets are white to pale yellow , oval, biconvex , scored on each side.
The film-coated tablets are packed in blisters.

The film-coated tablets are white to pale yellow , oval, biconvex , scored on each side.
The tablet can be divided into equal halves.
The film-coated tablets are packed in blisters.

Pack sizes: 12 tablets and hospital packs of 1000 tablets.
