WHAT Nootropil AND WHAT IT IS USED
Nootropil the group consisting of nootropic medicaments, derivatives of gamma-aminobutyric acid. Nootropil restores and improves cognitive abilities after various brain disorders such as hypoxia (oxygen deficiency), intoxication (poisoning) and others. Without exhibiting sedative or psychostimulant action.
Nootropil improves the rheological properties of the blood.

Nootropil is used for:
Adults:
Symptomatic treatment of psycho-organic syndrome with the following manifestations: violation of memory and attention, lack of motivation;
Treatment of cortical myoclonus (sudden involuntary muscle contractions), alone or in combination;
Treatment of vertigo (dizziness and tinnitus) and the related disruption, with the exception of dizziness of vasomotor or psychic origin;
For prophylaxis and remission of sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis.
Children:
Treatment of Dyslexia (difficulty in reading ability) in combination with appropriate measures such as speech therapy;
For prophylaxis and remission of sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis.

2. BEFORE YOU TAKE nootropil
Do not take Nootropil:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to piracetam or any of the other ingredients of Nootropil;
In the case of cerebral hemorrhage;
If you have severe renal insufficiency;
If you have a disease Huntington's chorea.
Take special care with Nootropil:
If you have heavy bleeding or bleeding risk;
If you have kidney problems may need to be reduced dose depending on the severity. Your doctor will decide whether the dose should be adjusted;
In patients with myoclonus should avoid abrupt discontinuation of treatment, as this may induce myoclonic jerks or generalized seizures.
Using other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
In concomitant treatment with thyroid extract (T3 + T4) reported the occurrence of confusion, irritability and sleep disturbances. Concomitant treatment with anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents (including low dose acetylsalicylic acid) increases the risk of bleeding.

Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
Nootropil should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. There are no adequate data from the use of piracetam in pregnant women.
Piracetam is excreted in human milk. Do not use piracetam during lactation or breast-feeding should be discontinued while undergoing treatment with piracetam.

Driving and using machines
Nootropil may affect the ability to drive and use machines as a result of some of the side effects that must be considered.

Use in elderly patients
It is recommended that elderly patients to regularly visit the doctor to adjust the dosage if necessary.

Important information about the excipients
This medicine contains approximately 2 mmol (or about 46 mg) of sodium per 24 g piracetam. This should be taken into consideration for patients on a diet with a controlled intake of sodium.

3. HOW TO TAKE nootropil
Always take Nootropil exactly as your doctor has told you. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Nootropil can be taken with or without food.

The usual dose is:
Symptomatic treatment of psycho-organic syndromes (deterioration of mental activity):
Treatment begins with daily doses of 4,8 g piracetam during the first few weeks, then reduced to 2,4 g daily. These doses should be divided into 2-3 doses.

Treatment of myoclonus (sudden involuntary muscle contractions) cortical origin:
The daily dose should start with 7,2 g, and increased by 4,8 g every three or four days to a maximum of 24 g, distributed in two or three doses. Protivomioklonichni treatment with other drugs should be maintained at the same dose. Depending on the clinical outcome achieved, if possible, the dosage of other similar drugs should be reduced.
Once started, treatment with piracetam should be continued and continues until the original cerebral disease.
However, every 6 months should attempt to reduce the dose or treatment discontinuation. Attention, patients with kidney problems should take smaller doses (see. Take special care with Nootropil). The duration of treatment depends on the nature of your illness and course of your complaints. If you think the effect of Nootropil is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Treatment of vertigo (dizziness and tinnitus)
The recommended daily dose ranges from 2,4 g to 4,8 g, divided into two or three doses.

For prophylaxis and remission of sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis:
The recommended daily dose for prophylaxis is 160 mg / kg orally, divided four.
The recommended daily dose for remission is 300 mg / kg, intravenously, divided four (used for injectable forms, and infusion administration).
A lower dose of 160 mg / kg or irregular intake is likely to lead to renewed crisis.

Children
For prophylaxis and remission of sickle cell vaso-occlusive crisis:
The recommended daily dose for prophylaxis is 160 mg / kg.
The recommended daily dose for remission is 300 mg / kg, intravenously.
A lower dose of 160 mg / kg or irregular intake is likely to lead to renewed crisis.
Piracetam can be administered to children over 3 years suffering from sickle cell anemia in the regime of the recommended daily dose (mg / kg). Piracetam is used in a limited number of children 1 to 3 years.

Treatment of Dyslexia (difficulty in reading ability) in combination with speech therapy in children:
In children over 8 years and adolescents the recommended daily dose is around 3,2 g, in two divided doses.

Application
The tablets are swallowed with liquid.
Recommended daily dose be taken two to four times.

Duration of treatment
You should take Nootropil as long as you advise your doctor. In the treatment of chronic diseases optimum effect is usually achieved after 6 to 12 weeks.

If you take more than the amount of Nootropil
Tell your doctor if you take more dose.

If you forget to take Nootropil
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Continue to take Nootropil as you have been told your doctor.

If you stop taking Nootropil
To prevent the resumption of complaints discontinuation of Nootropil should be gradual - with 1,2 g piracetam every 2 days.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Nootropil Like all medicines can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Tell your doctor if you develop any of the following and they worry you.

The frequency of possible side effects listed below is defined using the following convention:
Very common (affecting more than 1 in 10 patients);
Common (affecting 1-10 out of 100 patients);
Uncommon (affecting 1-10 of 1000 patients);
Rare (affecting 1-10 of 10 000 patients);
Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients);

Common:
Disorders of the nervous system: hyperkinesia (hyperactivity);
Investigations: weight increase;
Psychiatric disorders: nervousness.
Uncommon:
Psychiatric disorders: depression;
Nervous system: somnolence (sleepiness);
General disorders: asthenia (weakness).
Not known:
Blood disorders, bleeding disorders;
Ear and labyrinth disorders: vertigo (feelings of dizziness);
Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal pain, pain in the upper abdomen, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
Immune system disorders: anaphylactoid reaction, hypersensitivity;
Nervous system disorders: ataxia (lack of coordination of movements), balance disorder, worsening of epilepsy, headache, insomnia;
Psychiatric disorders: agitation, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations;
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: angioneurotic edema, dermatitis, pruritus, urticaria.

5. HOW TO STORE nootropil
Keep out of reach of children.
No special storage conditions.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

What Nootropil
The active substance is piracetam.

Other ingredients are:
Tablet core: Macrogol 6000, silica colloidal anhydrous, magnesium stearate, croscarmellose sodium.
Film coat: hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 400 and macrogol 6000.
