NORTIVAN WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED NORTIVAN?

Nortivan medicine for heart disease and belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Angiotensin II is a substance that causes contraction of blood vessels in the body and can cause high blood pressure. Nortivan works by blocking antiotenzin II. This leads to dilation of blood vessels and lowering blood pressure.
 
Nortivan used to treat high blood pressure.
 
Nortivan used to improve survival and reduce the risk of future heart problems after a heart attack. 
 

BEFORE YOU USE NORTIVAN

 
Do not use Nortivan
 
 If you are allergic to valsartan, soybean oil, peanut oil or any of the excipients of Nortivan.
  If you are pregnant after the third month;
  If you are breastfeeding;
  If you have severe liver disease;
  If you have serious kidney disease;
  If you are on dialysis.
 
Take special care with Nortivan
 
 If you have kidney disease;
 If you have a deficiency of sodium and / or volume-depleted / with high doses of water tablets / diuretics /, diarrhea or vomiting / may experience symptoms such as excessive thirst, dry mouth and drowsiness.
  If you are taking potassium-sparing drugs, potassium supplements you salt substitutes containing potassium, or other drugs that increase potassium levels in the blood. It should be checked quantities of potassium in your blood at regular intervals of time.
  If you have severe heart disease other than heart attack
  If you have a narrowing of the renal artery
 If you have recently had a kidney transplant
  If you have a disease that is characterized by the formation of too much of the hormone aldosterone
  If you have mild to moderate liver disease
Your doctor will determine how well your kidneys with the forthcoming treatment Nortivan.
 
 Adoption and use of other drugs
 
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
 
 
This is especially true if you are taking:
  Other medicines for high blood pressure, especially water tablets
  Lithium
  Potassium supplements and medications that can increase potassium levels in the blood. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for information.
  NSAIDs, type of pain killers.
  Medicines that belong to the group called ACE inhibitors after a heart attack.
 
Children and adolescents under 18 years of age:
 
The effect of Nortivan in children and adolescents is not known. Nortivan therefore should not be used to treat children and adolescents.
 
Elderly:
 
Nortivan can be used to treat patients aged 75 and older.
 
Impaired renal and hepatic function:
 
Nortivan use is not recommended if you suffer from severe liver or kidney disease.
 
For mild to moderate liver disease without cholestasis should not use doses greater than 80 mg.
 
For mild to moderate kidney disease require dose reduction.
  
Pregnancy and lactation:
 
Ask your doctor before taking any medication.
 
You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
 

HOW TO USE NORTIVAN

 
After a recent heart attack: After a recent heart attack treatment may begin no earlier than 12 hours afterwards, usually with a low dose of 20 mg twice daily. Over the next two weeks the dose was gradually increased to 80 mg twice daily. The maximum dose is 160 mg twice daily. Nortivan can be taken with other medicines for heart problems, your doctor will decide which treatment is right for you. The final dose depends on individual tolerability of the individual patient to the drug.
 
High blood pressure - The recommended dose is 80 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 160 mg in those patients who can not achieve adequate control of blood pressure. Your doctor may prescribe an additional medicine.
 
Maximum effect of lowering blood pressure is achieved after 4 weeks of treatment.
  

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

 
In the presence of these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention:
 
You should immediately contact your doctor if you get swelling, for example:
  Swelling of the face, tongue or throat;
  Difficulty in swallowing;
 Rash or difficulty breathing
 
Other side effects are:
 
Common side effects are:
  Viral infections;
 Low blood pressure and dizziness on standing
 
Uncommon side effects:
 
 Heart failure;
  Fainting;
 Eye disorders accompanied by itching, redness, and swelling;
  Dizziness;
  Cough;
 Bleeding from the nose;
  Diarrhea, stomach pain;
  Inflammation of the joints;
  Increased levels of potassium in your blood;
  Infections of the upper respiratory tract;
 Sore throat and discomfort when swallowing;
  Inflamed tonsils;
  Bad mood / depression /;
  Sleep disorder;
  Decreased sex drive
 
Rare:
 
dizziness, severe stabbing or throbbing pain along the nerve, blood vessel inflammation, allergic reactions, angioedema, rash and itching
 
Very rare:
 
low platelet count with symptoms such as bleeding from the site of injury greater than normal, headaches, nausea, taste disturbance, stomach pain, heavy bleeding, liver problems.
