NASONEX WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Nasonex Nasal Spray contains mometasone furoate and belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. Mometasone furoate is not to be confused with " anabolic " steroids which some athletes abuse in the form of tablets or injection. Nasal administration of mometasone furoate in small amounts helps to relieve the inflammation , sneezing and itching , and stuffy or runny nose .
Nasonex nasal spray is intended for adults and children over 6 years to treat the symptoms of hay fever (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis) and perennial rinit.Pri adults over 18 years Nazoneks is used to treat nasal polyps .
Hay fever , which occurs during certain periods of the year , is an allergic reaction caused by inhalation of pollen from trees , grasses , weeds , and fungi and spores . Perennial rhinitis can occur at any time of the year, and the symptoms may be due to sensitivity to various things, including dust mites , animal hair , feathers and certain foods. These allergies cause runny nose , sneezing and swelling of the nasal mucosa , leading to a feeling of " stuffy " nose . Nazoneks reduces swelling and irritation in the nose and thus relieves sneezing , itching and runny or blocked nose.
Nasal polyps are formed originating from the nasal mucosa and usually affect both nostrils. The main symptom is a feeling of stuffy nose. Breathing can become difficult when polyp grow too . It is also possible emergence runny nose , feeling running down the back wall of the throat, and loss of taste or smell . Nazoneks reduces inflammation in the nose and leads to a gradual reduction in the size of the polyps .
2 . BEFORE YOU USE NASONEX
Do not use Nazoneks
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients of Nazoneks .
if you have an infection in the nose.
if you have recently had surgery on your nose or you hurt him . You must wait until the wound / surgery healed before using Nazoneks .
Take special care with Nazoneks
if you have herpes simplex ( virus) infection of the eye
If you have another type of infection
if oral or injectable corticosteroids are taking other
if you suffer from cystic fibrosis
During the application of Nazoneks avoid contact with people with rubella and varicella .
Tell your doctor if you come into contact with a person suffering from any of these infections.
Taking other medicines
In case that taking other allergy medications from the group of corticosteroids , in oral form or by injection . Your doctor may advise you to stop taking them while using Nazoneks . Upon discontinuation of corticosteroids, some people may experience side effects such as joint pain or muscle weakness and feeling depressed . If these effects occur , you should inform your doctor and he will advise you whether to continue treatment with the nasal spray . It is also possible to develop other allergies, such as itchy, watery eyes , redness and itching on the skin. If any of these effects occur and you worry, you should consult your doctor.
Pregnancy and lactation
If you are pregnant , you should not use Nazoneks unless your doctor has advised you not that. If you are pregnant , tell your doctor before using this medicine. During the time when using this medicine should not breastfeed unless your doctor has advised you not .
3 . HOW TO USE NASONEX
Always use Nazoneks exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Do not apply Nazoneks in larger doses or use more often or for longer than your doctor has told you.
Hay fever and perennial rhinitis
Adults and children over 12 years
Hay fever and perennial rhinitis, the usual dose is two sprays in each nostril once daily in adults ( including the elderly ) and children over 12 years of age. Once symptoms are under control, your doctor may advise you to spray only once in each nostril once daily. In case you do not feel better , you should consult with your doctor and he may advise you to increase your dose to a maximum daily dose of four sprays in each nostril once daily. Once symptoms are under control, your doctor may advise you to reduce the dose to two sprays in each nostril once daily.
Children 6 to 11 years
For children aged 6 to 11 years , the usual dose is one spray in each nostril once daily. Continued application of nasal corticosteroids at high doses may cause - growth retardation in children . In the course of treatment at regular intervals of time , your doctor can monitor your child's height and reduce the dose for adverse effects.
If you suffer from severe hay fever . Your doctor may advise you to start using the Nazoneks two to four weeks before the pollen season , as this will help the symptoms of hay fever does not occur . Your doctor may advise you to use other treatments along with Nazoneks , especially if your eyes are irritated and itchy . At the end of the pollen season hay fever symptoms should improve and you no longer need treatment.
For nasal polyps usual starting dose for adults over 18 years is two sprays in each nostril once daily. If symptoms are controlled in the range of 5-6 weeks , the dose may be increased to two sprays in each nostril twice daily. Once symptoms are controlled. Your doctor will reduce the dose to the lowest dose at which the symptoms are controlled. If after twice daily dosing for 5-6 weeks no improvement , you should discuss with your doctor other treatment options and to replace Nazoneks .
Your spray Nazoneks has a cap that protects the nozzle from contamination . Be sure to remove the cap before using the pump and put it back after use.
If you use the spray for the first time or you have not used it 14 or more days , you may need to " cleanse " the pump again by spraying 6-7 times until a uniform spray. First shake the bottle gently and then hold it as shown below. Put your index and middle finger on either side of the nozzle and the thumb - into the bottle. Aim nozzle away from you and press your fingers down to activate the metering pump .
In the usual dose of two sprays in each nostril once daily for the treatment of hay fever, perennial rhinitis , and nasal polyps , the product should provide treatment for 35 days.
How to use the nasal spray
1. Shake the bottle and remove the cap
2 . Gently blow your nose.
3 . Close one nostril and put the nozzle in the other. Tilt your head slightly forward while holding the bottle upright.
4 . Start slowly breathe in through your nose while inhaling spray and spray your nose with your fingers by pressing down once .
5 . Exhale through your mouth. Repeat step 4 for the second spray in the same nostril.
6 . Remove the tip of the nostril and exhale through the mouth.
7 . Repeat steps 3-6 for the other nostril.
After using the spray , wipe the nozzle carefully with a clean cloth or paper towel and place the lid back on .
It is important to regularly clean the nasal spray , otherwise it might not function properly. Remove the cap and carefully remove the nozzle . If you take more dose Nazoneks

If you forget to use Nasonex
If you forget to use the spray time , do it as soon as you remember and then continue as before application . Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you stop using Nasonex

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Nazoneks can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
Most people do not experience problems after using the nasal spray . However, some people may appear headache , sneezing, nosebleed or sore nose or throat after administration of Nazoneks or other corticosteroid sprays.
If any of these side effects gets serious , or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet , please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Although rare, the use of this medicine may show effects of immediate hypersensitivity ( allergic) reactions. Rarely , these reactions may be severe . If you experience wheezing or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention .
When used in large doses and for long periods of time , corticosteroid nasal sprays may cause some side effects such as a slowdown of growth in children . Recommended for children who are treated chronically with kortikosteromden nasal spray growth be monitored regularly and if you notice changes in your doctor to be informed.
Very rarely observed changes in taste and smell .
In very rare cases, use of Nazoneks resulted in damage to the septum that separates the nostrils, and increased intraocular pressure ( glaucoma) , causing visual disturbances . Contact your doctor if you notice any of these side effects .
5 . HOW TO STORE NASONEX
Keep out of reach of children.
Nazoneks not use after the expiry date stated on the label
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not store above 25 ° C. Do not freeze .
The spray should be used within two months following the first opening

What does Nasonex
The active agent is mometasone furoate. Each injection contained 50 micrograms of mometasone furoate in the form of the monohydrate.
The other ingredients are dispersible cellulose BP 65 sps , glycerol , sodium citrate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, polysorbate 80 , benzalkonium chloride , purified water .
