Musant 2mg. 30 tablets
Musant belongs to a group of medicines called skeletal muscle relaxants.
Your medicine is used to relieve the stiffness and limited muscle movements caused by multiple sclerosis, injury or diseases of the spine.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE MUSANT not take Musant
if you are allergic (svaryhchuvstvitelni) to tizanidine or any of the other ingredients in your medicine
if you have severely impaired liver function
if you are taking medicines such as fluvoxamine (for depression) or ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic) (see also "Taking other medicines" below)
Take special care with Musant
Consult your doctor before taking Musant if:
have kidney problems
have heart problems such as coronary artery disease
have liver problems
Taking other medicines
Musant should not be taken together with fluvoxamine (for depression) or ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic) (see "Do not take Musant if" above)
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
other medicines used to treat abnormal heart rhythm such as amiodarone, mexiletine or propafenone
cimetidine (for indigestion or ulcers in the digestive tract)
some antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones, such as enoxacin, pefloxacin or
contraceptives. It is possible to respond to a lower dose Musant if you take contraceptives in the form of pills
ticlopidine (to prevent blood clot)
any medicines to treat high blood pressure, including diuretics (water tablets)
beta-blockers, such as atenolol, propranolol
digoxin (for the treatment of congestive heart failure and heart rhythm problems) some sedatives (sleeping pills or medicines for anxiety disorders) are other medicines that if taken with tizanidine may affect your heart rhythm. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Taking Musant with food and drink
Musant can be taken without regard to food. Alcohol may increase the sedative effect of Musant. It is advisable not to consume alcohol while taking Musant.
Pregnancy and lactation
Not recommended intake of Musant during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you think you may be pregnant and consult it before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines
Musant can cause dizziness (see. Section 4 "Possible Side Effects"). If you feel dizzy, do not drive or operate machinery.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Musant
This product contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact him before taking this medicine.
3. HOW TO TAKE MUSANT
Always take Musant just as you have been told your doctor. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Recommendations for usual dosages are shown below:
Your doctor will usually start treatment with a single dose of 2 mg, which is then gradually will be increased. Increasing the dose should be done in three or four days. Increasing the dose, your doctor will instruct you to distribute in three-four times a day.
The usual daily dose is between 12 and 24 mg. The maximum daily dose is 36 mg.
Your doctor will decide whether to accept Musant.
Children and adolescents (under 18 years):
Musant not recommended for use in children and adolescents.
Patients with kidney disease:
Treatment should be started with 2 mg once daily. Your doctor will advise how Im increasing the dose.
Route of administration:
Musant is for oral use. The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water.
If you take more than the amount Musant
If you (or someone else) you take many tablets at once, or you think a child has swallowed tablets contact immediately with the emergency department of the nearest hospital or your doctor.
Overdose can cause nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, slow or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, constriction of the pupils, difficulty breathing, coma, restlessness or lethargy.
If you forget to take Musant
If you forget to take one or more of your tablets, take only the usual number of tablets at the time of the next dose. Do not take additional number of tablets.
If you stop taking Musant
Do not stop taking Musant save on medical indication. Musant treatment should be stopped gradually, especially if you have been taking a high dose, unless your doctor has given you other instructions. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment may cause effects such as rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Musant can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Reported the following adverse reactions:
Common (affects 1 to 10 patients in 1001:
Drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, drop in blood pressure
Increase in blood pressure suddenly discontinuation Dry Mouth
Reduction or increase of heart rate
Rare (affects 1 to 10 patients in 10,000):
Sleep disorders including difficulty sleeping Nausea, indigestion Allergic reactions (itching, rash)
Changes in liver function - you may need to do blood tests to monitor Muscle weakness
Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000)
Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) and hepatic failure, which can lead to yellowing of the eyes or malleable and / or dark-colored urine. Consult your doctor immediately if this happens.
Other side effects (not known):
Headache, abnormal movements
Difficulty focusing the eyes
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE MUSANT
Keep out of reach of children.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use Musant after the expiry date stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
6. FURTHER INFORMATION
Activists substance is tizanidine. Each tablet contains 2 mg or 4 mg Zanaflex (tizanidine) (tizanidine hydrochloride).
The other ingredients are lactose anhydrous; cellulose, microcrystalline; stearic acid and silica colloidal anhydrous.
