What is Motilium and what it is used
Motilium is a medicine that enhances the movements or contractions of the stomach and intestines.
Motilium 10 mg film-coated tablets are used in adults to treat the following symptoms:
nausea and vomiting, weight or bloating, feeling of discomfort in the stomach area, or when the stomach contents back into the esophagus, such as the eructation and heartburn.

2. Before you take Motilium
Do not take Motilium
• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to domperidone or any of the other ingredients of Motilium
• If you have bleeding in the stomach or if you often experience severe stomach pain or regularly spend black stools
• if you have blocked or perforated bowel
• if you have a pituitary tumor (prolactinoma)
• if you are taking certain medicines that slow metabolism (breakdown) of other drugs in the body and which may also affect your heart rate, such as ketoconazole, fluconazole and voriconazole (used to treat fungal infections), antibiotics erythromycin, clarithromycin, and telithromycin or a heart medicine amiodarone
• if you have or have had liver disease.
Take special care with Motilium
The tablets of 10 mg are not suitable for use in children under 12 years who weigh less than 35 pounds.
• if you have liver or kidney problems, follow your doctor's instructions strictly.
• if you are taking other medicines, read the section "Taking Motilium with other drugs."
Do not take Motilium more than 28 days, unless it has been prescribed by your doctor.
Taking other medicines
Do not take Motilium if you are taking certain medicines that slow metabolism (breakdown) of other drugs in the body and which may also affect your heart rate.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medicines for infections, heart problems or HIV / AIDS, antidepressant nefazadone or aprepitant, a medicine used to prevent nausea caused by chemotherapy in cancer patients.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Taking Motilium with food and drink
Motilium is recommended to be taken before a meal, as if taken after food absorption slows down somewhat.
Pregnancy and lactation
It is not known whether the use of Motilium is harmful during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or think you are pregnant, you should inform your doctor who will decide whether the use of Motilium is appropriate.
The aft found small amounts of Motilium. Therefore the use of Motilium is not recommended for nursing mothers.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines
Motilium no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Motilium
The film-coated tablets contain lactose (a type of sugar). If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this product.

3. How to take Motilium
Always take Motilium exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Ask your doctor if after two weeks you feel better.
Motilium is recommended to be taken before a meal, as if taken after food absorption slows down somewhat.
• Adults and children over 12 years and weighing 35 kg or more
Tablets
One to two tablets of 10 mg 3-4 times a day, 15 to 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime, with a maximum daily dose of 80 mg. Take the tablets with a little water or other liquid. Do not chew
tablets.
Tablets are not suitable for children under 12 years old, weighing less than 35 kg.
If you take more dose Motilium
Symptoms of overdose include agitation, altered state of consciousness or trance, fainting, confusion, drowsiness, involuntary movements such as twitching of the eyes or incorrect posture as wry neck. If you or your child take more Motilium dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist, especially if a child swallows more than the recommended dose.
Information for doctor in case of overdose: recommended monitoring of the patient, gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal and general supportive measures. Anticholinergic drugs for the treatment of Parkinson's disease may help to control the extrapyramidal effects.
If you forget to take Motilium
If you forget to take the recommended dose, take your next dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, can wait. Do not take a double dose to make up the missed dose.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Motilium can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue use of the drug and seek immediate medical attention:
Very rare (reported in less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
• seizures
• involuntary movements of the face, arms or legs, and excessive trembling, excessive muscle stiffness or spasms
• type of reaction that can occur shortly after administration and is characterized by skin rash, pruritus, shortness of breath and / or swelling of the face
• severe hypersensitivity reaction that can occur shortly after administration and is characterized by
rash (hives), pruritus, flushing, fainting and difficulty breathing in addition to other possible symptoms
• abnormal heart rhythm
• sudden death due to sudden loss of heart function in individuals who may or may not have established heart disease.
Discontinue domperidone and immediately contact your doctor if you experience any of the above adverse events.
Other side effects observed with the use of Motilium are listed below:
Common (reported in at least 1 in 100 patients but less than 1 in 10):
• dry mouth.
Uncommon (reported in at least 1 in 1,000 patients but less than 1 in 100):
• anxiety
• loss or diminished interest in sex
• headache
• drowsiness
• diarrhea
• rash
• itching
• painful or sensitive breasts
• secretion of milk from the breast
• general feeling of tiredness.
Rare (reported in at least 1 in 10 000 patients, but no more than 1 in 1000):
• cessation of menstrual cycle in women.
Very rare (reported in less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
• hives
• agitation
• nervousness
• inability to pass urine
• changes in the results of certain lab tests.
Some patients who have used Motilium for conditions and doses, requiring medical supervision, have received the following side effects: anxiety, swelling or enlargement of the breasts, unusual breast discharge, abnormal menstrual cycle in women, difficulty breastfeeding, depression, hypersensitivity.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. How to store Motilium
• Do not store above 30 ° C.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
• Do not use Motilium after the expiry date stated on the packaging. For expiry date abbreviation used. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
• Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Motilium
• The active substance is domperidone. Each tablet contains 10 mg of domperidone.
• The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, starch, polyvidone, magnesium stearate, hydrogenated vegetable oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, hypromellose.
