Excipients of tablets: microcrystalline cellulose , polacrilin potassium , magnesium stearate, talc , kopomimer methacrylic acid , macrogol 4000 , titanium dioxide (E171 ) .

 
 
 
1. MACROPEN WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR ?
1 tablet contains 400 mg midecamycin ( midekamitsin ) .

What Macropen?


Macropen is an antibiotic of the macrolide group . It acts by suppressing the growth of bacteria.
 
What is it used Macropen?
Macropen is intended for the treatment of respiratory tract infections , infections of skin and subcutaneous tissue , some infections, genitourinary tract , for the treatment and prevention of diphtheria , pertussis and for the treatment of certain types of diarrhea . It is often prescribed to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillin .
 
2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE MACROPEN
Tell your doctor if you have any chronic disease , metabolic diseases , if you are allergic or if you take other medicines.
 
Who should not take Macropen?
You should not take Macropen, if you are hypersensitive to midecamycin acetate or to the excipients of the medicinal product or if you have severe liver damage .
 
Precautions and warnings
If taking this medicine for a long time , your doctor will check your liver function through blood tests. This is especially important if your liver has been damaged before.
Antibiotics affect the intestinal bacteria . This may lead to excessive growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria , which causes a specific type of colon inflammation ( pseudomembranous colitis ) , as evidenced by severe and persistent diarrhea .

What other drugs could interact with Macropen?
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Concomitant use of certain drugs Macropen can lead to increased concentrations of these drugs in the blood. Therefore, there is an increased risk of side effects. Consult your doctor if you are taking medicines for blood clotting (eg warfarin), a drug used in organ transplantation (eg, cyclosporine), medicines to treat epilepsy (eg carbamazepine) YY ergot alkaloids.
 
Special warnings about excipients
 Polyols (mannitol) can cause diarrhea.
Azo- color EEC can cause hypersensitivity reactions , including asthma. Hypersensitivity reactions occurred more frequently in patients who are hypersensitive to aspirin .
 
3 . HOW TO TAKE MACROPEN
Dosage and method of administration
Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor. You should not change the dose or discontinue therapy without consulting their physician first.
The dosage and duration of treatment depends on the type and site of infection , the age of the patient, and his response to treatment.
Adults and children weighing more than 30 kg: usually take one 400 mg tablet three times daily. Maximum daily dose for adults is 1600 mg midecamycin.
Children weighing less than 30 kg: may be given 20 to 40 mg / kg body weight per day of
oral suspension , in three divided doses , or 50 mg / kg body weight per day , divided into two , and in severe infections - in three doses.
Treatment is generally continued for 7 to 14 days.

If you take more than you need Macropen
The ingestion of higher amounts of the drug at once can cause mainly nausea and vomiting .
If you take a higher dose of the drug than you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Macropen
If you forget to take the drug at the appointed time , take it as soon as you remember . Take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten .
Effects when treatment with Macropen
If you stop treatment too early , the disease can be resumed .
 
4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines , Macropen can also have side effects. During the treatment may have mild gastrointestinal disorders ( loss of appetite, inflammation of the mouth , nausea , vomiting, and diarrhea ) . Diarrhea is rarely severe and prolonged , it may be a sign of inflammation of the colon ( pseudomembranous colitis ) which can occur with the use of antibiotics. Hypersensitivity reactions which occur with itching , skin rash , urticaria, and eosinophilia are rare . Can be observed increased activity of liver enzymes ( transaminases) and jaundice.
