Molaksol helps you to have a comfortable bowel movement even if you have constipation for a long time. Molaksol act in strong constipation (called faecal impaction).
Macrogol 3350 increases the volume of the stool by attracting water, which leads to the normalization of the motility in the colon. The physiological consequences are an increased movement of the softened stools and facilitate defecation. The salts in the composition help to maintain a normal balance of salts and water in the body.
2. What you need to know before taking MOLAXOLE
Do not take MOLAXOLE
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the active substances macrogol, sodium chloride, potassium chloride or sodium bicarbonate or any other ingredients of MOLAXOLE
if you have an obstruction in the intestine, perforated intestinal wall or a disease accompanied with acute inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, toxic megacolon or ileus.
Warnings and Precautions
if you feel weakness, shortness of breath, excessive thirst with headache, you have heart failure or get swollen ankles, stop taking Molaksol and tell your doctor immediately.
Do not take Molaksol for long periods of time, unless it was directed by your doctor, for example if you are taking medications that can cause constipation or if you have a disease that causes constipation, such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis (MS).
Other medicines and MOLAXOLE
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant and breast-feeding or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor before taking Molaksol.
Driving and using machines
No effect on ability to drive and use machines.
3. How to take MOLAXOLE
Always take MOLAXOLE exactly as your doctor tells you.
If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose for constipation is:
1 sachet one to three times daily. The normal dose for most patients is 1-2 sachets per day. Depending on the individual response, may be required 3 sachets per day. The dose depends on the strength of constipation. The dose may be reduced to the lowest effective dose after two days. The duration of treatment is typically 2 weeks. If symptoms persist after 2 weeks of treatment, contact your doctor.
Mix the contents of one sachet with 1/2 cup of water (about 125 ml). Stir to dissolve the powder and drink. If you wish, you can add fruit juice or fruit syrup immediately before drinking the drug.
Use in children (under 12 years): not recommended.
Adults: The usual dose is 8 sachets a day. 8 sachets are taken during a period of 6 hours each day, 3 days if necessary. The course of treatment for faecal impaction does not normally exceed 3 days.
If you use MOLAXOLE for the treatment of faecal impaction you can mix 8 sachets in one liter of water. The solution may be stored in a refrigerator.
Use in children (under 12 years): not recommended.
Patients with impaired cardiovascular function:
For the treatment of faecal impaction, the dose should be distributed so as not to take more than two sachets per hour.
Patients with renal insufficiency:
No change to the dose in the treatment of constipation or faecal impaction.
If you take more dose MOLAXOLE
If you take too much MOLAXOLE and get severe diarrhea or start vomiting, stop taking Molaksol until it passes; then start again with a lower dose. If you have concerns, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take MOLAXOLE
Do not take a double dose to make up the missed dose.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, MOLAXOLE can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very common (affecting more than 1 in 10 patients):
Pain and stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach rumble and gastrointestinal gases.
Common (affecting up to 1 in 10 patients):
Itching, headache, swollen hands, feet or ankles.
Uncommon (affecting up to 1 in 100 patients):
Skin rash, stomach upset and bloated stomach.
Very rare (affecting up to 1 in 10,000 patients):
Serious allergic reactions that cause difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
If you develop any of these symptoms, tell your doctor immediately and stop taking Molaksol. Allergic reactions (eg, skin reactions and runny nose), high and low levels of potassium in the blood and discomfort in the anal area.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. How to store MOLAXOLE
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use MOLAXOLE after the expiry date stated on the sachet and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
The product does not require any special storage conditions.
Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
The reconstituted solution can be stored tightly sealed in a refrigerator (2 ° C-8 ° C). Unused solution within 6h discarded.
Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and further information
The active substances are macrogol 3350 (polyethylene glycol 3350) 13,125 g, sodium chloride 350,7 mg, sodium hydrogencarbonate 178,5 mg, potassium chloride 46,6 mg.
The other ingredients are acesulfame potassium (E950) (sweetener) and flavor with lemon flavor.
