LEFLOX 500 mg. 7 tablets
Each tablet contains 500 mg of LEFLOX levofloxacin (equivalent to 512.46 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate) as an active substance. Levofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent of the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics for oral administration.
LEFLOX tablets used to treat infections caused by bacteria against which this drug has effect. Some of the infections that LEFLOX tablets may be used for treatment of: sinus infections, infections in patients with prolonged respiratory difficulties, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin infections, infections of the prostate.
2. Before taking LEFLOX
Do not take LEFLOX
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to levofloxacin, to other antibiotics from the quinolone family or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
if you suffer from epilepsy, otherwise you risk seizure (convulsions) to increase;
if you have ever had problems with the tendons (tendinitis) related to treatment with a drug that belongs to the same class of antibiotics (fluorhinolonitsi);
if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant;
if you are breastfeeding;
in children and adolescents. Tablets are intended only for adults.
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking LEFLOX tablets.
Take special care with LEFLOX
if you are over 65 years;
if you are taking corticosteroids (eg. cortisone);
if experience pain in the tendon during or shortly after the adoption of LEFLOX must stop taking LEFLOX tablets and contact your doctor;
if you have kidney problems;
if you get severe, persistent and / or bloody diarrhea during or after treatment with the tablets. This can be a sign of a serious intestinal inflammation following treatment with antibiotics;
if you have had brain damage from stroke or severe brain injury and is now being treated with LEFLOX tablets, the risk of getting fit may increase;
If you often have headaches or numbness;
if you have proven glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;
if you have persistent mental health problems;
If you are diabetic;
if you have liver disease;
Limit stay under strong sunlight and do not use sun lamps or tanning while taking LEFLOX tablets.
Other medicines and LEFLOX
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, you have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Concurrent use of LEFLOX tablets with medicinal products containing iron (against anemia), magnesium or aluminum (against acid or burning), the efficacy ofLEFLOX can be reduced;
LEFLOX tablets can cause increased bleeding in patients receiving warfarin to thin the blood;
In combination with medicines against rheumatic pain and inflammation (fenbufen, ibuprofen, ketoprofen) may increase your risk of getting seizures;
Probenecid, digoxin and cimetidine reduce the ability of the kidneys to cleanse your body of levofloxacin, but these interactions are unlikely to have clinical importance;
Your medicine may also prolong the effect of cyclosporine;
Concomitant use of LEFLOX tablets antidiabetic drugs can lead to high or low blood sugar.
LEFLOX with food, drink and alcohol
LEFLOX tablets hang apply regardless of food intake.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you think you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Do not take LEFLOX tablets if you are pregnant, you think you become pregnant or suspect that you are pregnant.
Do not take LEFLOX tablets if you are breast-feeding or breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines

3. How to take LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets

In patients with reduced kidney function (renal failure) may require dose reduction.
LEFLOX tablets should be swallowed with water.
Tablets should not be crushed or chewed.
LEFLOX tablets can be taken before or after meals.
LEFLOX tablets should be taken at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after using magnesium / aluminum-containing antacids (medicines used to treat heartburn and
burning stomach), sucralfate (medication to protect the stomach wall) and other products containing calcium, iron or zinc (used for the treatment of anemia).
Otherwise, they may reduce the effectiveness of your medicine.
How long should not use LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets
The duration of treatment with LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets will be determined by your doctor and determine the severity of the infection.
Even if you feel better do not stop taking LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets until you complete a full course of treatment. If you stop taking the tablets too soon
it may worsen your condition.
If you get a side reaction, seek immediate advice from your doctor.
If you use more than the amount LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets
If you've taken more than the amount LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets, contact your doctor or visit the nearest medical facility.
Take the pack with you because doctor must be sure what medicine you received. You may experience the following side effects:
confusion, dizziness, decreased consciousness, convulsions and cardiac disorders that are likely to lead to changes in heart rhythm.
If you forget to take LEFLOX 500 mg film-coated tablets
If you miss a dose, take it as, regardless of the time until the next dose.
Do not take a double dose to make up the missed dose. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, LEFLOX can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects that may occur in 1 in 10 of 100 patients:
Headache, dizziness, insomnia;
Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea;
Increased levels of liver enzymes in the blood.
Uncommon side effects which may occur in less than 1 in 100 patients:
Somnolence, tremor, change in taste;
Difficulty breathing (dispersion);
Itching or rash;
Intense itching or rash (urticaria);
Profuse sweating (hyperhidrosis);
Pain in joints and muscles;
Pain in the chest, back and legs;
Anxiety, confusional state, nervousness;
Changes in blood count, indicating problems in the liver and kidneys;
Changing the number of white blood cells in the results of some blood tests.
Rare side effects which may occur in less than 1 in 1000 patients:
Shaking of hands and feet (paresthesia);
Ringing in the ears;
Lowering blood sugar level (particularly in patients with diabetes);
Immune system disorders (hypersensitivity);
Palpitations or low blood pressure;
Decrease the number of white blood cells (neutropenia)
Reduce the number of blood cells;
Impaired renal function.
Severe hepatic impairment;
Disorders estimates and thoughts (psychotic disorders) with suicidal thoughts and opinions;
Increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun and ultraviolet rays;
Heavy breathing or choking;
Change in taste;
Bronchospasm, allergic pnevmotit.

5. How to store LEFLOX
Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original container. Do not store above 25 ° C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
