LAMISIL Tablets 250 mg
The substance of LAMISIL is terbinafine form of terbinafine hydrochloride. o The ingredients are: magnesium stearate, anhydrous silica hidroksipropilmetil cellulose, microcrystalline cellulose and sodium carboxymethyl starch.
WHAT IS LAMISIL AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?
LAMISIL tablets are used to treat fungal infections of the fingernails and toenails.
LAMISIL tablets are used to treat fungal infections known as Tinea, on the scalp, groin and other parts of the body or foot (athlete foot).
LAMISIL Tablets are applied to treat skin infections caused by drozhdi.Terbinafin belongs to a group of medicines known as antifungals and is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, scalp and nails. After swallowing the tablets, terbinafine reaches the site of infection in a concentration sufficient to kill fungi or stop their growth.
BEFORE YOU USE LAMISIL
LAMIZIL ® can be prescribed by a doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions, even if they differ from the general information contained in this leaflet.
Do not take LAMISIL
o If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to terbinafine or any of the excipients of LAMIZIL ®, listed at the beginning of this leaflet.
o If you have or have had liver problems
If any of these apply to you, tell your doctor before taking LAMIZIL ®. If you think you may be allergic, ask your doctor.
Caution with LAMISIL:
o If you have kidney problems.
o If you are taking other medicines.
If any of these apply to you, tell your doctor before you start taking LAMISIL. LAMISIL in elderly
LAMISIL tablets can be administered to people over 65 years.
If you are older than 65 years will be prescribed the same dose as adults.
LAMISIL in children
LAMISIL is not recommended in children under 2 years of age.
Pregnant
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor. LAMIZIL ® should not be administered to during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. Your doctor will discuss with you the potential risks of taking LAMISIL during pregnancy.
Nursing Mothers
During treatment LAMISIL should not breast-feed, since your baby will be exposed to LAMIZIL ® through breast milk. This can harm your baby.
Driving and operating machinery
It is not known LAMISIL cause effects on driving and operating machinery.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including herbal medicines, oral contraceptives (birth control pills), and medicines obtained without a prescription.
Some other drugs can interact with LAMISIL. They include:
Certain antibiotics (eg rifampicin)
Some antidepressants (eg desipramine)
Some medicines for heart problems (eg, propafenone) o Some medicines to treat high blood pressure (eg, metoprolol)
Some medicines to treat ulcers (eg cimetidine) Tell your doctor about these and all other medicines you are taking.
HOW TO TAKE LAMISIL?
Take the tablets exactly as your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you feel that the effect of LAMIZIL ® is too strong or too weak, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
How LAMISIL to take and how often?
Adults
The usual dose is one 250 mg tablet daily.
Children
No data on use in children under 2 years of age (usually weighing less than 12 kg).
For children weighing less than 20 kg, the daily dose was 62.5 mg.
Children weighing 20 to 40 kg, the daily dose is 125 mg.
For children weighing over 40 kg, the daily dose is 250 mg.
How long to take the tablets?
It depends on the type of infection, its severity and size of the affected areas of your body. Your doctor will tell you exactly how long to take the tablets.
The usual duration of treatment is as follows:
In skin infections
In Tinea-foot infections (athlete foot) LAMISIL tablets usually take between 2 weeks and b.
In Tinea-infections and infections caused by yeast in the groin and other parts of the body LAMIZIL ® tablets are usually taken between 2 and 4 weeks.
It is important to take the tablets each day and continue the treatment until your doctor terminate it. This will ensure complete cure of the infection and reduce the chance of its recurrence after you stop taking the tablets
You can take the tablets LAMISIL with or without food.
Upon infection of the scalp
The normal duration of treatment for infections of the scalp is 4 weeks.
For nail infections
Fungal nail infections usually require longer treatment than fungal skin infections. In most fungal nail infections LAMISIL tablets should be taken between 6 and 12 weeks
Infections of the fingernails
Duration of treatment: 6 weeks is sufficient in most cases.
Infections of the toenails

If you forget to take LAMISIL
If you miss taking one tablet (s), take it as soon as you remember. Do not take it if the next administration is less than 4 hours. In this case, take the next dose at the regular time.
If you take more tablets than
If you accidentally take too many tablets, contact your doctor immediately. You may need medical attention Symptoms of overdose of tablets LAMISIL include headache, nausea, stomach pain, and dizziness.
What else you need to know while you are taking LAMISIL?
Some additional measures will help to get rid of the fungal infection and make sure that it will not reappear. For example, keep the affected area dry and cool and change clothes every day, which are in direct contact with infected areas.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Overall LAMISIL is well tolerated. Like all medicines, LAMISIL can cause some side effects in some people.
Some rare or very rare side effects can be serious:

Tell your doctor immediately if:

Headache.
Uncommon (likely to affect 1 to 10 users in 1,000)
Loss or altered sense of taste (in rare cases, usually recover within a few weeks after stopping treatment with tablets LAMIZIL ®. Could result in a decrease in appetite and significant weight loss in a very small proportion of patients. Should tell your doctor if a change in taste sensation lasted several days.
Very rare (likely to affect 1 in 10,000 patients)
Hair loss, fatigue, psoriasis-like wounds, worsening of psoriasis.
