It is used to treat various types of epilepsy in children and adults.

Your medicine is called Lamictal and a pale yellow tablets with rounded edges. The tablets contain 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg or 200 mg of active substance lamotrigine (lamotrigine).
The tablets contain the following inactive ingredients necessary for the manufacture of the dosage form: lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, povidone, magnesium stearate and yellow iron oxide.
WHAT IT IS USED LAMICTAL
Lamictal be used in two different disease conditions - epilepsy and bipolar disorder .
It is used to treat various types of epilepsy in children and adults .
Lamictal can be given as monotherapy ( treatment with Lamictal) in adults and children over 12 years. It can also be used in combination with other anti-epileptic drugs , both in adults and children over 2 years of age .
After achieving control of disease in combination therapy concomitant antiepileptic drugs can be stopped while continuing monotherapy with lamotrigine.
Lamictal is used in adult patients with bipolar disorder to prevent extreme changes in mood - depression ( sadness / despair ) or mania (excitement / euphoria ) . Lamictal mainly prevents the occurrence of depressive moods.
Lamictal should not be used for the treatment of bipolar disorder in children under the age of 18 . Certain medicines for the treatment of depression in children and adolescents has been associated with thoughts and suicide attempts .
You should not take Lamictal:
• If you are allergic to lamotrigine or any of the other ingredients of Lamictal tablets. Before taking this medicine , ask yourself the following questions . If your answer to any of these questions is "Yes" or in the case that these issues have not been discussed with your doctor , contact your doctor before you start taking Lamictal.
• Have you received any rash during prior treatment with lamotrigine or other antiepileptinno medicine?
• Are you taking hormonal contraceptives (eg, birth control pill ) or hormone replacement therapy?
• Do you suffer from liver or kidney disease ?
• Are you pregnant , planning to become pregnant , breast-feeding you ?
• Do you suffer from Parkinson's disease ?
• Are you taking any medicines containing lamotrigine?
• Are you taking any other medicines for epilepsy or bipolar disorder ?
• Are you taking or have recently taken you other medicines , even those not prescribed by a doctor ?
HOW TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE
Please note that your doctor can give you directions that are different than those described below. It is important to take your medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. If you are not sure, contact your doctor . The dosage that your doctor prescribes depends on whether you are taking other anti-epileptic drugs and what they are. This is especially important if you are taking a medicine containing valproate.
Typically Lamictal therapy initiated at a low dose that is increased slowly during the first weeks of treatment . Dose prescribed by your doctor will depend on other medicines you are taking and your response to treatment with Lamictal.
Do not increase the dose or frequency of administration of the drug to those prescribed by your doctor. During treatment with Lamictal may take other medicines. At the start or stop taking them , please follow the advice of the physician to change the number of tablets Lamictal, you need to take a day.

Adults and children over 12 years:

Children from 2 to 12 years:

Lamictal should not be applied when the required dose is less than 2,5 mg per day . Lamictal should not be used for initiation of treatment in children weighing less than 17 kg. .
Do not interrupt suddenly taking the drug . Consult your doctor before. As with other antiepileptic drugs , abrupt discontinuation of Lamictal may provoke re- occurrence of seizures. Bipolar disorder :

Children (under 18 years):
Lamictal is not recommended for the treatment of bipolar disorder, 18 years of age.
Discontinuation of Lamictal:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
Hormonal kontratseptnvi : If you are taking hormonal contraceptives ( birth control pill ) , your doctor may prescribe a higher maintenance dose of Lamictal, depending on how well your disease is influenced .
Kidney or liver :
If the person receiving Lamictal, there are problems with your kidneys or liver , your doctor may prescribe a lower dose depending on the severity of renal or hepatic impairment .
Take the tablets with some water. Do not chew .
If you forget to take a dose, do not worry. Take the dose as soon as you remember and then continue to the next dose accurately according to the preset time. If, however, the time until the next dose is less than 4 hours , wait until it occurs and adopts the next dose ! Do not take a double dose !
If you take too high a dose of Lamictal or if someone else by mistake take your medicine , contact your doctor or nearest hospital emergency department .
Re- initiation of treatment with Lamictal
Tell your doctor before you restart taking Lamictal, even if you stop taking this medicine for a few days .
Driving and using machines:
When the medicine is possible dizziness and double vision . Therefore , before you drive or operate machinery should determine how you affect treatment Lamictal. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like any other drug , Lamictal can cause side effects. Most people taking this medicine does not cause problems.

If you experience any of these symptoms , you should immediately tell your doctor because if you pass them without paying attention to them may follow more serious problems . • Swelling of the face .
• Fever and symptoms similar to the flu, swollen lymph nodes or drowsiness.
• Increased fatigue, seemingly gratuitous bruising or bleeding, increased frequency of infectious diseases (eg common cold ) or inflammation of garloto.V rare cases of hepatic impairment .
Tell your doctor immediately if you develop any of these symptoms , regardless of whether they are related to feeling that make you ill or not:

Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any of the following

If you are taking Lamictal for epilepsy, can rarely identify more seizures than usual. Report as quickly as possible to your doctor if your seizures worsen or if you get a new type of seizures.
If you are taking Lamictal to prevent extreme mood swings may not feel the full effect of the treatment for a few weeks. STORAGE OF LAMICTAL
Store the tablets at a temperature below 30 ° C.
