WHAT IT IS USED FOR LAMICTAL
Lamictal is used in two different conditions - epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
It is used to treat different types of epilepsy in adults and children.
Lamictal can be given as monotherapy (treatment with Lamictal) in adults and children over 12 years. Can also be used in combination with other antiepileptic drugs for adults and children over 2 years of age.
After achieving control of disease in combination therapy concomitant antiepileptic drugs may be stopped while continuing monotherapy lamotrigine.
Lamictal is used in adult patients with bipolar disorder to prevent extreme mood swings - depression (sadness / despair) or mania (excitement / euphoria). Lamictal mainly prevents the occurrence of depressive moods.
Lamictal should not be used to treat bipolar disorder in children under 18 years of age. Certain medicines for the treatment of depression in children and adolescents has been associated with thoughts and suicide attempts.
BEFORE YOU TAKE
You should not take Lamictal:
If you are allergic to lamotrigine or to any of the ingredients of Lamictal tablets. Before taking this medication ask yourself the following questions. Have you received any rash during prior treatment with lamotrigine or other antiepileptinno medicine?
Are you taking hormonal contraceptives (ie birth control pill) or hormone replacement therapy?
Do you suffer from liver or kidney disease?
Are you pregnant, planning to become pregnant, breast-feeding you?
Do you suffer from Parkinson's disease?
Are you taking any medicines containing lamotrigine?
Are you taking any other medicines to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder?

HOW TO TAKE MEDICINE
Please note that your doctor can give you guidance, other than as described below. It is important to take your medicine exactly as your doctor prescribes. If you are not sure, contact your doctor. The dosage that your doctor prescribes depends on whether you are taking other antiepileptic drugs and what they are. This is especially important if you are taking a medicine containing valproate.
Usually, treatment begins with Lamictal low dose increased slowly during the first weeks of treatment. The doses prescribed by your doctor will depend on other medications you are taking and your response to treatment with Lamictal.
Do not increase the dose or frequency of administration of the drug to the prescribed by your doctor. During treatment with Lamictal can take other medicines. Re-initiation of treatment with Lamictal

Driving and using machines:

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
