IRBEK WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Irbek tablets belong to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-II receptor antagonists. Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body and binds to receptors in kranovosnite vessels causing them to tighten. This leads to increased blood pressure. Irbek prevents the binding of angiotensin-II to these receptors, causing the vessels to relax and blood pressure. Irbek slows the decrease of kidney function in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes
 
Irbek used to treat high blood pressure and prevention of renal impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes with hypertension and laboratory evidence of impaired renal function.
 

BEFORE YOU TAKE IRBEK

 
Do not take tablets Irbek:
 
 If you are allergic to irbesartan or any other ingredients of Irbek
 If you are in the second or third trimester of pregnancy
 If you are breastfeeding.
 
Take special care with Irbek:
 
 If you get excessive vomiting or diarrhea
 If you have kidney problems
 If you have heart problems
If you take Irbek of kidney disease due to diabetes. In this case, your doctor may perform regular blood tests, especially for measuring blood potassium levels in case of impaired renal function.
 If you are going to have surgery or will be given anesthetics.
 
Taking other medicines
 
Usually Irbek not interact with other medicines. Special precautions may be appropriate if you are taking potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, potassium-sparing drugs, lithium-containing medicines.
 
Taking Irbek food and drink
 
Irbek can be taken with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed with water.
 
Pregnancy and lactation:
 
Before taking Irbek tell your doctor if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. If you become pregnant during treatment with Irbek tablets, immediately consult your doctor. Irbek should not be taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy or during lactation.
 
Lactation
 
Should not be taken if you are breastfeeding Irbek
 
Driving and using machines:
 
Irbek not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, occasionally during treatment of high blood pressure may occur dizziness or faintness.
 
Important information about some of the ingredients of Irbek:
 
Irbek contains lactose monohydrate.
 

HOW TO TAKE IRBEK TABLETS?

 
The usual dose is 150 mg once daily. Later, depending on your blood pressure, the dose may be increased to 300 mg once daily.
The maximum effect of lowering blood pressure should be reached 4-6 weeks after beginning treatment.
 
In patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes recommended maintenance dose of 300 mg once daily for the treatment of associated kidney disease.
In some patients, such as those on dialysis 75 years or older, your doctor may recommend a lower dose, especially when starting treatment.
 
Irbek is intended for oral administration. Can be taken with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed with water. You should try to take your daily dose at about the same time each day. It is important to continue taking Irbek until your doctor tells you otherwise.
 
Irbek should not be given to children under 18 years.
 
If you take more than the dose
 
Immediately call a doctor.
 
If you forget to take Irbek
 
Take your next dose as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
 

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

 
Common: dizziness, nausea, fatigue and increased plasma creatine kinase.
In clinical studies, common adverse reactions in patients with hypertension, type II diabetes and kidney disease are: low blood pressure, dizziness, pain in bones and muscles, and reduction of hemoglobin.
 
Uncommon: fast heartbeat, redness, cough, diarrhea, sexual dysfunction, pain in the chest.
 
Rare:
headache, taste disturbance, ringing in the ears, muscle cramps, pain in joints and muscles, abnormal liver function, increased blood potassium levels, impaired renal function, and inflammation of small blood vessels mainly affecting the skin.
