WHAT candesartan HCT Actavis AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?
The name of your medicine is Candesartan HCT Actavis tablets. It is used to treat high blood pressure in adults. It contains two active ingredients: kardesartan cilexetil and hydrochlorothiazide. They work together to lower your blood pressure.
Candesartan cilexetil belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It causes your blood vessels to relax and widen. This helps to lower your blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics. It helps your body to separate water and salts, eg. sodium in your urine. This helps to lower your blood pressure.
Your doctor may prescribe Candesartan HCT if your blood pressure is not controlled properly with either candesartan cilexetil or hydrochlorothiazide.
BEFORE YOU USE HCT candesartan
Do not use Candesartan HCT if:
Are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or hydrochlorothiazide or any of the other ingredients of Candesartan NTC
If you are allergic to sulfonamides. If you are not sure if any of these apply to you, ask a doctor
If you are more than 3 months pregnant
If you have severe kidney problems
If you have severe liver disease or obstruction of the gallbladder
If you consistently low levels of potassium in the blood
If you consistently low levels of calcium in the blood
If you have ever had gout
Take special care with Candesartan
If you have diabetes
If you have heart problems, liver or kidney
Have recently had a kidney transplant
Vomit, have recently had severe vomiting or diarrhea
If you have a disease of the adrenal gland called Conn's syndrome
Have ever had a disease called systemic lupus erythematosus
Have low blood pressure
Have ever had a stroke
Have ever had an allergy or asthma
If you have surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Candesartan HCT. This is necessary because when NTC Candesartan combined with some anesthetics, this can cause a drop in blood pressure.
Use in children
Candesartan no experience of HCT in children. Therefore, Candesartan HCT should not be given to children. -
Taking other medicines
In particular, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
Drugs that lower blood pressure, including beta-blockers, diazoxide, and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors / ACE /
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, eg. ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, celecoxib, etoricoxib and
Potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium
Supplements containing calcium and vitamin D
Medicines to lower cholesterol
Medicines for diabetes
Medicines to control heart rate
Drugs that can affect the levels of potassium in the blood
Drugs to treat cancer
Other medicines that may lead to increased antihypertensive effect
USE OF candesartan HCT with food and drink
You can take Candesartan HCT with or without food.
hen you prescribe Candesartan HCT, tell your doctor before drinking alcohol. Alcohol can make you feel weak or dizzy.
Pregnancy and lactation
You should tell your doctor if you think you are pregnant. Use of Candesartan HCT is not recommended in early pregnancy, and must not take it if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used after the third month of pregnancy.
Use of Candesartan NTC breastfeeding is not recommended.
DRIVE AND USE MACHINES
Some people may feel tired or dizzy when taking Candesartan HCT.
If this happens to you, do not drive or operate any tools or machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of candesartan
It contains lactose which is a sugar.
HOW TO USE candesartan NTC?
It is important to take Candesartan HCT every day.
The usual dose is one tablet once daily
Swallow the tablet with water
Try to take the tablet at the same time each day.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Stop taking Candesartan NTC and seek immediate medical attention if any of the following allergic reactions:
Difficulty in breathing, with or without swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat that may cause difficulty in swallowing.
Intense skin itching
Candesartan HCT may cause a decrease in the number of white blood cells. Your resistance to infection may be decreased and may have fatigue, infection or fever. Other possible side effects include:
Changes in blood test results:
Reduced amount of sodium in the blood.
Increased or decreased amounts of potassium in the blood, especially if you already have kidney problems or heart failure.
High amounts of cholesterol, sugar, uric acid
Sugar in urine
Respiratory tract infection
Low blood pressure
Loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, stomach irritation
Effects on the kidneys
Difficulty sleeping, depression, anxiety
Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
Abnormal heart rhythm
Difficulty in breathing
Inflammation of the pancreas
Damage to blood vessels, leading to the appearance of red or purple dots on the skin.
Skin rash that develops quickly, blistering or peeling of the skin and possibly blisters in the mouth.
Worsening of existing events, like lupus erythematosus, or appearance of unusual skin reactions.
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat
Back pain, pain in joints and muscles
Changes in the liver
What Candesartan NTC
The active ingredients are candesartan cilexetil and hydrochlorothiazide.
Other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, corn starch, hydroxypropyl cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate and triethyl citrate.
