Fortecal 20 mg. 10 tablets
Fortecal tablets contain bilastine, which is antihistamine. Fortecal is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (sneezing, itching, runny or stuffy nose, and reddening eyes) and other similar allergic conditions. It is also used to treat itchy ras on the skin (hives or urticaria).
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE FORTECAL
Do not take Fortecal:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to bilastine or any of the other ingredients of Fortecal (see section 6. Further information).
Take special care with Fortecal:
If you suffer from moderate to severe renal impairment and if you are taking other medicines (see below).
Not suitable for use by children under 12 years of age.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms continue, talk to your doctor.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Talk to your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
ketoconazole (an antifungal medicine);
diltiazem (for the treatment of angina);
cyclosporin (to reduce immune system activity, thus avoiding rejection in transplantation or reduction of disease activity in autoimmune or allergic diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or rheumatoid dermatitis);
ritonavir (for AIDS treatment);
rifampicin (an antibiotic).
Take Forteal with food and drink
These tablets should not be taken with food or with grapefruit juice or other fruit juices, as this will reduce the effect of bilastine.
To avoid this, you can:
take the tablet and wait an hour before eating food or fruit juice;
If you have taken food or fruit juice, you should wait 2 hours before taking the tablet.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Contact your doctor if you are pregnant, if you are planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Driving and using machines
A study to investigate the effect of bilastine on driving ability showed that administration of 20 mg bilastine did not affect the ability to drive. However, very rarely, some people may experience dizziness, which may affect their ability to drive or operate machinery.
Bilastine at the recommended dose (20 mg) does not increase alcohol-induced drowsiness.
3. HOW TO TAKE FORTECAL
Adults, including the elderly and adolescents over 12 years of age:
Take one tablet a day.
The tablet should be taken on a hungry stomach, for example, before breakfast. You should not eat 1 hour after taking bilastine.
The tablet is swallowed with a glass of water.
The score line is not intended to divide the tablet in equal doses. It can be used to break the tablet and facilitate swallowing.
With regard to the duration of treatment, your doctor will determine the type of your illness and determine how long you should take Fortecal.
If you take more Fortecal than you should
If you or someone else has taken too much of Fortecal, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take Forteal
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you forget to take your dose on time, take it as soon as possible and then return to the usual dosing regimen.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Fortecal can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Adverse reactions that may occur are:
Common: affects 1-10 out of 100 persons:
Uncommon: affects 1-10 out of 1,000 people:
blood samples that show changes in liver function;
vertigo (feeling dizzy or dizzy);
dyspnoea (difficulty breathing);
dryness or discomfort in the nose;
nausea (feeling sick);
gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining);
herpes of the lips;
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE FORTECAL
Keep out of the reach of children!
Do not use Fortecal after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of your unnecessary medicines. These measures will help to protect the environment.
6. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What contains Fortecal
The active substance is bilastine. Each tablet contains 20 mg of fluticasone.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate type A (potato starch), colloidal silicon anhydride, magnesium stearate.
What Fortecal looks like and contents of the pack
Fortecal tablets are white, oval, biconvex, scored.
The tablets are supplied in blister packs of 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 tablets.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
