Feroger contains the active ingredients ferrofumarate, folic acid and ascorbic acid.
Ferofumarate is a form of iron, and folic acid belongs to B vitamins. Both iron and folate are needed for the body to build red blood cells. If the body does not receive enough of these substances, anemia (reduced red blood cell counts) may develop.
Feroger is used to treat conditions of iron deficiency with a proven folic acid deficiency, especially during the first month before conception (or when pregnancy is planned) and then to the third month of pregnancy.
2. What you need to know before taking Ferroe
Do not take Feroger:
if you are allergic to ferofumarate, folic acid, ascorbic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
if there is too much iron in your body (hemochromatosis, haemosiderosis);
if you suffer from iron metabolism disorders;
if you have anemia that is not due to iron or folic acid deficiency;
if you suffer from gastrointestinal disorders.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ferroement:
Before starting treatment with this medicine, you may be given blood tests to determine the cause of iron deficiency anemia;
While you are taking Ferroeter, you may notice fainting of the stools. This phenomenon is common when taking iron-containing medicines and should not disturb you;
If you suffer from so-called "megaloblastic anemia", it may be necessary to conduct blood tests at a certain time interval;
If you have stones in the kidneys or in the urinary tract, ascorbic acid can cause the formation of stones;
Ascorbic acid has influenced laboratory tests. Tell your doctor or staff at the clinic if you are taking Ferroe;
If you have acute or terminal renal insufficiency (dialysis), the daily dose of 50 to 100 mg of ascorbic acid should not be exceeded because of the risk of hyperoxiaemia (too much oxalate in the blood) and crystallisation of kidney oxalate (kidney stones).
Ferroger is not intended for use in children.
Other Drugs and Ferroger
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
The following medicines may affect Ferroeter or be affected by Ferrogen, so you should consult your doctor before taking these medicines at the same time as Ferroer:
Acetohydroxamic acid, cefdnir, chloramphenicol, dapson, quinolones, tetracycline: medicines to treat bacterial infections;
Acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): for the treatment of pain, fever and inflammation;
Anion exchanger, polystyrolsulphonate;
Antacids (aluminum, calcium salts): medicines that neutralize or bind stomach acid;
Cimetidine, omeprazole: medicines that inhibit the formation of hydrochloric acid;
Anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenobarbital, primidone, valproic acid): for the treatment of seizures;
Auranofin: for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis;
Bisphosphonates: for the treatment of reduced bone density;
Calcium and magnesium preparations, magnesium hydroxide carbonate, magnesium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate;
Entacapone, levodopa: medicines for the treatment of Parkinson's disease;
Folic acid antagonists (methotrexate, pyrimethamine, trimethoprim, sulfonamides);
Glucopipidase: Used during treatment of carcinoma;
Lipoic acid: for the treatment of diseases affecting the nervous system;
Methidopa: for the treatment of high blood pressure, especially during pregnancy;
Mycophenolate mofetil: a medicine to suppress the immune system. It is used to prevent organ rejection rejection;
Pancreatin and analogues: for the treatment of diseases affecting the pancreas;
Penicillamine: for the treatment of rheumatic diseases;
Sulfasalazine: for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease;
Tannin protein: Some remedies for diarrhea. Tannins are also found in red wine, black and green tea;
Thyroid hormones, thyroxine: for the treatment of thyroid diseases;
Tilaclase (obtained from Aspergillus oryzae): for the symptomatic treatment of lactose intolerance;
Thiopurin, dimercaprol: for the treatment of heavy metals poisoning;
Trientine: to treat a genetic disorder where copper is accumulated in the body (Wilson's disease);
Ferroger with food, beverages and alcohol
Capsules should be taken before breakfast or meals.
In the event of an adverse drug reaction, Ferrogener may be taken with food.
If Ferroger is co-administered with milk, foods containing caffeine,
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Feroger can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Driving and using machines
Ferroeter does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
Ferroger contains lactose monohydrate (milk sugar)
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
3. How to take Feroeger
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended daily dose is 1 capsule once a day.
Capsules should be swallowed whole with enough fluid before breakfast or meals.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the iron deficiency. Your doctor will advise you how long to use this medicine.
Use in children
Ferroger is not intended for use in children.
If you take more Feroger than you should
Overdosage can cause iron poisoning.
Symptoms may include vomiting, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract and diarrhea, followed by a circulatory collapse.
If you have taken too many capsules or if a child has taken the capsules, contact a doctor or nearest hospital immediately.
If you forget to take Feroger
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose. Continue with the prescribed daily dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Ferrogear hard capsules may cause a severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic reaction) (frequency not known, no data can be estimated from the available data). Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:
difficulty in breathing;
rash on the body;
Other side effects (not known) include:
elevated blood levels of iron (in case of overdose with iron);
gastrointestinal problems and stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, black stools and heartburn;
severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic reaction);
allergic skin reactions such as itching, redness, urticaria, edema and photosensitivity (excessive sensitivity to light).
How to Store Ferroger
Do not store above 30 ° C. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of medicines in the sewer or in the household waste container. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Ferroger contains hard capsules
The active substances are: ferofumarate, folic acid and ascorbic acid. Each capsule contains 202.8 mg of ferrofumarate equivalent to 66.7 mg of divalent iron; 0.8 mg of folic acid and 100 mg of ascorbic acid.
The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, 30% polyacrylate dispersion, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, erythrosine (E 127), red iron oxide (E 172), black iron oxide (E172), titanium dioxide (E171) and gelatin.
What Ferroger looks like hard capsules and what the pack contains
Ferroger capsules are pink, size 0 hard capsules that contain 4 red-brown mini tablets, 1 yellow mini tablet and 3 white mini tablets. Each capsule has approximately 21.7 mm long and 7.5 mm thick.
Ferrothers hard capsules are available in blister packs containing 10, 20, 28, 30, 50, 56, 60, 84, 90, 98 and 100 capsules.
