EGOLANZA WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Egolanza tablets belong to a group of medicines called antipsychotics.
Egolanza tablets are used to treat diseases in which there are symptoms such as hearing , seeing or sensing things , mistaken beliefs , unusual suspiciousness , and becoming withdrawn . People with this disease may also feel depressed, anxious or tense .
Egolanza tablets can be used to treat conditions that occur with symptoms such as elevated mood, excessive amounts of energy , needing much less sleep than usual, talking very quickly with racing one after the other ideas and sometimes severe irritability . It is also a mood stabilizer that prevents further occurrences of the disabling high and low (depressed ) extremes of mood associated with this condition .

2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE EGOLANZA
Do not take Egolanza
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to olanzapine ( the active ingredient) or to any of the excipients of the tablet Egolanza . An allergic reaction may be recognized as a rash , itching, swollen face, swollen lips or shortness of breath . If this happens , contact your doctor ;
If you have been diagnosed with eye problems such as certain kinds of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) .
Take special care with Egolanza
This drug requires special attention in the following cases , so make sure your doctor knows if any of these apply to you.
Drugs of this type may cause unusual movements mainly of the face or tongue. If this happens after you take Egolanza tablets , tell your doctor ;
Very rarely, medicines of this type cause a combination of fever, faster breathing , sweating, muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness . If this happens , contact your doctor immediately ;
Not recommended for use in patients Egolanza in dementia , as this may cause serious adverse reactions.
 
If you suffer from any of the following illnesses tell your doctor as soon as possible:
Drugs of this type may cause unusual movements mainly of :
diabetes ;
Heart disease ;
Liver or kidney disease ;
Parkinson's disease ;
epilepsy ;
Prostate problems ;
Bowel obstruction ( paralytic ileus ) ;
Blood disorders ;
Stroke or " mini " stroke ( transient symptoms of stroke) .
If you suffer from dementia, you or the person who takes care of you / your relative should tell your doctor if you have ever had a stroke or " mini " stroke . As a routine precaution, if you are over 65 years old, your blood pressure should be monitored by your doctor.
Egolanza tablets is not intended for people under 18 years of age.

Taking other medicines
Take other medicines during treatment with tablets Egolanza only if your doctor has told you that this is possible. You might feel drowsy if you take the tablets in combination with antidepressants or medicines for anxiety or sleep medications (tranquillizers ) .
You must tell your doctor if you are taking fluvoxamine ( an antidepressant ), or ciprofloxacin (an antibiotic) , as this may require a change in dose Egolanza .
Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Especially tell your doctor if you are taking medicines to treat Parkinson's disease.

Taking Egolanza with food and drink
Do not drink alcohol during treatment with Egolanza as using the tablets and alcohol can cause drowsiness.

Pregnancy and lactation
Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant . You should not take this medicine if you are pregnant unless you have discussed this with your doctor. You should not take this medicine when breast-feeding , as small amounts of the drug may pass into breast milk.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Driving and using machines
There is a risk of feeling drowsy while taking Egolanza . If this happens , do not drive or operate any tools or machines. Tell your doctor.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Egolanza
Egolanza tablets contain lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

3 . HOW TO TAKE EGOLANZA
Always take Egolanza tablets exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor will tell you how Egolanza tablets to take and how long to take them . The daily dose of tablets Egolanza is between 5 and 20 mg. Consult your doctor if your symptoms recur , but do not stop taking the tablets Egolanza until your doctor tells you to do so. You should take Egolanza once a day following the prescription of your doctor. Try to take your tablets at the same time each day. Egolanza tablets can be taken with or without food. The tablets are taken orally . You should swallow the tablets Egolanza whole with water .

If you take more than you should Egolanza
Patients received more than the required amount Egolanza experienced the following symptoms: fast heart rate , agitation / aggressiveness, problems with speech , unusual movements ( especially of the face or tongue) and reduced level of consciousness. Other symptoms may be: acute confusion, seizures (epilepsy ) , coma , a combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating , muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness, slow heart rate , aspiration, high or low blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm. Contact your doctor or just go to the nearest hospital . Show the physician the packaging of the drug.

If you forget to take the tablets Egolanza
Take your tablets as soon as you remember . Do not take two doses in one day.

If you stop taking Egolanza
Do not stop taking your tablets just because you feel better.
It is important to continue taking olanzapine tablets for as long as your doctor tells you .
If you suddenly stop taking the tablets Egolanza may experience symptoms such as sweating , insomnia, tremor, anxiety or nausea and vomiting. Your doctor may advise you to reduce the dose gradually before stopping treatment.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product , ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
As with all medications Egolanza can cause side effects , although not everybody gets them.
Very common side effects : affect 1 to 10 users:
Weight gain ;
drowsiness;
Increases in the levels of prolactin (a hormone that stimulates milk ) in the blood .
Common: affects 1 to 10 of 100 users :
Changes in the number of certain blood cells and blood fat;
Increases in the level of sugar in the blood and urine ;
Increased hunger ;
dizziness ;
anxiety ;
tremor ;
Muscle stiffness or spasm (including eye movements ) ;
Speech problems ;
Unusual movement ( especially of the face and tongue ) ;
constipation ;
Dry mouth ;
rash ;
Loss of strength ;
Extreme tiredness ;
Water retention, leading to swelling of the hands, the feet or ankles .
At the beginning of treatment , some people may feel dizzy or faint (with a slow heart rate, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position. This usually goes alone, but if it does not, tell your doctor.
Uncommon : affects 1 to 10 users in 1000 :
Heartbeat ;
Sensitivity to light ;
hair loss ;
Incontinence .
Rare : affects 1 to 10 of 10000 user :
Breast enlargement in men or women.
Other possible side effects : frequency can not be estimated from the available data :
Allergic reaction (eg swelling in the mouth and throat , itching, rash);
Diabetes or exacerbation of diabetes occasionally associated with ketoacidosis (presence of ketones in the blood and urine) or coma ;
Lowering of normal body temperature ;
Seizures , usually associated with a history of seizures ( epilepsy) ;
Combination of fever, faster breathing, sweating , muscle stiffness and drowsiness or sleepiness ;
Spasm of the eye muscles , resulting in a circular motion of the eye ;
Sudden unexplained death ;
Blood clots in the form of deep venous thrombosis of the leg or blood clot in the lung ;
Abnormal heart beat;
Inflammation of the pancreas , leading to severe abdominal pain , fever and malaise ;
Liver disease manifesting as yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes ;
Muscle disease unfolds as unexplained aches and pains ;
Difficulty in urination ;
Prolonged and / or painful erection.
While taking Egolanza , elderly ( over 65 years ) with dementia may suffer from stroke , pneumonia , urinary incontinence , falls, extreme tiredness , visual hallucinations, a rise in body temperature, redness of the skin and problems with gait . Have been few reported fatalities in this particular group of patients.
In patients with Parkinson's disease Egolanza tablets may worsen symptoms.
Rarely women taking medicines of this type for a long time , begin to separate milk and miss or have irregular menstrual period. If this continues , tell your doctor. Very rarely babies born to mothers who were taking tablets Egolanza in the last stage of pregnancy (third trimester ) can have tremors, be sleepy or dizzy.
If any of the side effects gets serious , or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet , please tell your doctor.

5 . STORAGE EGOLANZA
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions . Keep out of reach of children.
Egolanza not use tablets after the expiry date stated on the blister and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not use the tablets Egolanza if you notice any signs of deterioration in the quality of the product (eg, discoloration ) .
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

6 . ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What does Egolanza
The active substance is olanzapine . Each tablet contains 5 Egolanza mg, 7,5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg or 20 mg of the active ingredient . The exact amount is shown on the package of Egolanza .

The other ingredients are :
Egolanza 5 mg film-coated tablets:
Tablet core : microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate (40,98 mg), hydroxypropylcellulose, crospovidone, magnesium stearate.
Coating: hypromellose, quinoline yellow (E 104) , Opadry -Y- 1-7000 white ( hypromellose, titanium dioxide ( E 171 ) , macrogol 400) .

Egolanza 7,5 mg film-coated tablets
Tablet core : microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate (40,98 mg), hydroxypropylcellulose, crospovidone, magnesium stearate.
Coating: hypromellose, quinoline yellow (E 104) , Opadry -Y- 1-7000 white ( hypromellose, titanium dioxide ( E 171 ) , macrogol 400) .
