Dexamethasone  WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR ?

Dexamethasone Sopharma solution for injection contains the active ingredient dexamethasone, which have the properties of glucocorticoid hormones from the adrenal cortex , and has anti-inflammatory , anti-allergic and immunosuppressive effects . Meanwhile affect metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, protein and electrolyte balance.
Dexamethasone was used in all conditions where treatment with glucocorticoids .
Dexamethasone was administered to control the emergency status when glucocorticoid orally impossible:
- Edematous conditions including head trauma , cerebral edema
- Shock if you do not respond to other treatments or signs of adrenal failure
- A short-term treatment of severe allergic reactions and anaphylactoid reactions , asthmatic status, exacerbation of chronic allergic diseases such as serum sickness , asthma
- Having an additional treatment for a short period of time in non-specific inflammatory conditions of the joints and soft tissues.

BEFORE YOU USE DEKSAMETAZIN
Do not use Dexamethasone :
As it is used in the management of life-threatening conditions , contraindication to the use of the product can only be hypersensitive to the active substance or any of the excipients .
In all other cases, relative contraindications include: acute and chronic bacterial infections , acute viral infections , chronic active hepatitis , systemic fungal infections , proven infestations , infection at the injection site , unstable joints , 8 weeks after prophylactic vaccination lymphadenitis after vaccination with BCG vaccine , gastric and intestinal ulcers , uncontrolled high blood pressure , severe heart failure , diabetes mellitus , osteoporosis , mental history , glaucoma .

HOW TO USE dexamethasone ?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The active substance is Dexamethasone sodium phosphate, dexamethasone phosphate equivalent to 4 mg in an ampoule of 1 mg and 8 mg per ampoule containing 2 mg injection.

Other ingredients are: propylene glycol , disodium edetate, sodium citrate, sodium hydroxide, water for

injections.

DETERMINATION OF METHOD OF APPLICATION:
Intravenous or intramuscular administration :
The injectable solution can be used undiluted or diluted with a solution of sodium chloride or glucose for intravenous administration. Dexamethasone can be added to blood tranfuziya .
The initial dose may vary from 0.5 mg to 20 mg per day depending on the disease . Acute life-threatening situations , doses may be higher . In such cases, you should keep in mind the slower absorption by intramuscular administration . In emergency situations the usual dose is 4 mg Ott 20 mg iv or i.m. Shock - Typically a dose of 2 to 6 mg / kg intravenously once . It can be repeated at an interval of 2 to 6 hours of intravenous infusion or if the patient's condition does not improve . - Big joints - of 2 to 4 mg

- Infiltration of soft tissues - from 2 to 6 mg
- Ganglia - from 1 to 2 mg

In children:
 Doses for children vary individually. As a rule, is recommended by 200 mg / kg body weight per day .
