Desloratadine 5 mg. 10 tablets
Desloratadine Teva contains the active substance desloratadine which is an antihistamine that does not make you drowsy. It helps control your allergic reaction and its symptoms.
Desloratadine Teva relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages caused by an allergy, such as hay fever or allergy to dust mites). These symptoms include sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy palate, and itchy, red or watery eyes.
Furthermore Desloratadine Teva is used to alleviate the symptoms of urticaria (a skin condition which is due to an allergy). These symptoms include itching and hives.
Desloratadine Teva is intended for adults and adolescents (over 12 years).
Relief of these symptoms lasts a full day and helps you deal with your everyday commitments and sleep.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE DESLORATADINE TEVA
Do not take Desloratadine Teva
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to desloratadine, to any of the other ingredients of Desloratadine Teva or to loratadine.
Take special care with Desloratadine Teva
if you have impaired kidney function.
If this applies to you, or if you are unsure, please consult your doctor before taking Desloratadine Teva.
Desloratadine Teva should not be given to children under 12 years of age.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding is not recommended to take Desloratadine Teva.
Driving and using machines
At the recommended dose is not expected Desloratadine Teva could affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, although in very rare cases, some people experience drowsiness, which may be a reason for reduced attention. If it happens, do not drive or operate machinery.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Desloratadine Teva
Desloratadine Teva contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult him before taking this medicine.
3. HOW TO TAKE DESLORATADINE TEVA
Adults and adolescents (over 12 years): take one tablet once a day. Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food.
Your doctor will determine the type of allergic rhinitis you are suffering and will determine how long you should take Desloratadine Teva.
If you have intermittent allergic rhinitis (presence of symptoms for less than 4 days per week or for less than 4 weeks), your doctor will recommend a regimen consistent with the data on the course of your disease.
If you have persistent allergic rhinitis (presence of symptoms for 4 days or more per week and for more than 4 weeks), your doctor may recommend a longer treatment.
For urticaria, the duration of treatment may vary from patient to patient and therefore you should follow your doctor's instructions.
If you take more Desloratadine Teva dose
Take Desloratadine Teva only as prescribed. Accidental overdose is not expected to cause severe problems. However, if you take more Desloratadine Teva than you have, call your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Desloratadine Teva
If you forget to take your dose on time, take it as soon as possible, then go back to your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up the missed dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Desloratadine Teva can cause severe allergic reactions very rarely (difficulty breathing, wheezing, itching, hives and swelling) and if you get them immediately seek medical help.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
In adults, side effects were about the same as in placebo. However, adverse reactions were reported more frequently than with placebo were fatigue, dry mouth and headache. In adolescents, the most commonly reported adverse reaction was headache.
After the marketing of desloratadine, the following adverse reactions have been reported very rarely (affects less than 1 user in 10 000):
nausea (feeling sick);
restlessness with more body movements;
inflammation of the liver;
abnormal liver function tests.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE DESLORATADINE TEVA
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Desloratadine Teva after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Tell your doctor if you notice any change in the appearance of the tablets.
Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Desloratadine Teva
The active substance is 5 mg desloratadine.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, pre-gelatinized maize starch, silica colloidal anhydrous, lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 400, indigo carmine (E 132), shellac and propylene glycol.
Desloratadine Teva looks like and contents of the pack
Blue, round, biconvex film-coated tablet with "D5" on one side and smooth
on the other.
Desloratadine Teva 5 mg film-coated tablets are available in blister packs of 7, 10, 14,20,21,28, 30,
40, 50, 60, 90 and 100 film-coated tablets in perforated unit dose blisters
50 x 1 tablet.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
