Nandrolone Decanoate is made steroid, similar to the a naturally occurring steroid testosterone. Nandrolone decanoate is used to promote weight gain following extensive surgery, chronic infection, or severe trauma, and in other cases that result in inadequate weight gain or maintenance. Nandrolone decanoate is used to reduce the loss of muscles, caused by therapy with corticosteroids and to reduce bone pain associated with osteoporosis. Decaject is used to treat anemia associated with chronic (long-term) kidney failure.
Decanoate salt form of nandrolone, an anabolic steroid analog of testosterone with androgenic, anabolic, and erythropoietin stimulating effects. Nandrolone enters cells and binds and activates specific nuclear androgen receptors In responsive tissues, including prostate, seminal vesicles, scrotum, penis, larynx, hair follicles, muscles and bones. The resulting activated hormone receptor complex trans locates in the nucleus and binds to response elements in the androgen (are) in the promoter of target genes, wherein the complex promotes gene expression required to maintain the male sex organs. Mimicking the mechanism of negative feedback of testosterone, nandrolone decanoate also suppresses the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH). Furthermore, this agent also stimulates the production of erythropoietin by enhancing production of erythropoietic stimulatory factors.
