DHC CONTINUS 90 mg. 50 tablets
Tablets contain the active substance dihidrokodeinov tartrate 60 mg or 90 mg.
Dihydrocodeine belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics or 'painkillers'. Dihydrocodeine is an opioid analgesic which is subject to medical prescription and special indications.
DHC CONTINUS used to relieve severe pain.
This medicine can be taken by adults, elderly and children over 12 years.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE DHC CONTINUS
Do not take DHC CONTINUS
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to dihydrocodeine or any of the other ingredients of DHC CONTINUS;
asthma or other breathing problems;
increased intracranial pressure (severe headache, nausea);
injuries to the head;
hereditary problems of galactose intolerance.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any of the above complaints.
Take special care with DHC CONTINUS
Some people should not take DHC CONTINUS or need special dosage.
Before you take the tablets tell your doctor:
if you are pregnant or breast-feeding;
if you are taking medicines to treat depression, for example. MAO inhibitors, or have taken such medicine during the last two weeks.
Taking DHC CONTINUS with food and drink
During treatment with DHC CONTINUS should not consume alcohol.
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
DHC CONTINUS should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless clearly necessary.
Driving and using machines
Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel drowsy and unable to concentrate.
Important information about some of the ingredients of DHTS KONTINUS
This medicinal product contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this product.
3. HOW TO TAKE DHC CONTINUS
Always take DHC CONTINUS exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is 60 mg to 120 mg every 12 hours. In elderly dosage is lower.
DHC CONTINUS should be taken every 12 hours. For example, if you take a tablet at 8 am, the next tablet should take at 8 pm.
The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Crushing them and not break them!
DHC CONTINUS should not be taken by children under 12 years.
If you take more dose DHC CONTINUS
If you take more dose DHC CONTINUS or someone accidentally swallow all the tablets, tell your doctor or hospital.
If you forget to take DHC CONTINUS
If you remember, that you forget to take a tablet, take it immediately, unless it is the hour in which you should take the next tablet. Then continue to take the tablets every 12 hours. Do not take a double dose to make up the missed dose.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, DHC CONTINUS can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
When the tablet can be any of the following side effects:
nausea and vomiting;
lack of concentration;
urinary retention (difficulty urinating);
itching and rash.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or you notice other effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE DHC CONTINUS
Do not store above 25 ° C.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use DHC CONTINUS after the expiry date stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

The other excipients are anhydrous lactose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, cetostearyl alcohol, magnesium stearate, talc, and purified water.
