WHAT CO - SARTOVAL AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR ?
Co- Sartoval tablets contain two active substances called valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide.
Both substances help control high blood pressure ( hypertension).
Valsartan belongs to the class of drugs known as " angiotensin II receptor antagonist " that support the control of high blood pressure . Angiotensin II is a substance in the body , which constricts blood vessels , thereby decreasing blood pressure . Valsartan works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II. Consequently, the blood vessels relax and blood pressure is lowered.
Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics ( also known as " water pills " ) . Hydrochlorothiazide increases urine output , which also lowers blood pressure.
Co - Sartoval used for the treatment of high blood pressure which is not well controlled by each of the substances alone.
High blood pressure increases the workload of the heart and the arteries. If not treated , it can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart and kidneys, and can lead to stroke, heart failure or kidney failure. High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attack . The decrease in blood pressure to normal values reduces the risk of developing these diseases.
