What Capecitabine Zentiva and what it is used
Capecitabine Zentiva belongs to a group of medicines called "cytostatic agents", which stop the growth of cancer cells. Capecitabine Zentiva contains 500 mg capecitabine, which itself is not a cytostatic agent. Only after being absorbed by the body, it is converted into an active anti-cancer agent (more in tumor tissue than in normal tissue).
Capecitabine Zentiva prescribed by physicians for the treatment of cancer of the colon, rectum, stomach cancer, or breast cancer. Furthermore, Capecitabine Zentiva is prescribed by doctors to prevent new occurrence of colon cancer after complete removal of the tumor by surgery.

2 What you should know before taking Capecitabine Zentiva
Do not take Capecitabine Zentiva:
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to capecitabine or to any of the other ingredients of Capecitabine Zentiva. You must tell your doctor if you know that you have an allergy or extreme sensitivity to capecitabine Zentiva;
if you are pregnant or breast-feeding;
if you have blood disorders;
if you have a diseased liver or kidney problems;
if you know that you have a deficiency of the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD);
if you are taking now or have been treated in the last 4 weeks with brivudine sorivudine or similar classes of substance as part of the treatment of herpes zoster (chickenpox or shingles).
Take special care with Capecitabine Zentiva
Talk to your doctor before taking Capecitabine Zentiva:
have liver or kidney disease;
have or have had other illnesses, such as heart problems or chest pain;

Other medicines and Capecitabine Zentiva
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take other medicines. This is extremely important as taking more than one medicine at the same time can strengthen or weaken the effect of the drugs.

drugs for gout (allopurinol);
medicines for blood clotting (coumarin, warfarin);

You should take Capecitabine Zentiva no later than 30 minutes after a meal.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Before starting treatment, you must tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant. 3 How to take Capecitabine Zentiva
Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Your doctor will prescribe a dose and treatment regimen that is right for you. Zentiva capecitabine dose is based on your body surface. It is calculated from your height and weight. The usual dose for adults is 1250 mg / m2 body surface area taken twice daily (morning and evening). Capecitabine tablets Zentiva usually taken for 14 days followed by a 7-day rest period (during which not a tablet). This 21-day period is one treatment cycle.

If you stop taking capecitabine Zentiva
There are no side effects caused by stopping treatment with capecitabine Zentiva. If you are using coumarin anticoagulants (eg. Phenprocoumon), stopping capecitabine Zentiva may need your doctor to adjust the dose of anticoagulant.

4 Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Capecitabine Zentiva can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis (inflammation of the mouth and throat) and abdominal pain;

5 How to store Capecitabine Zentiva
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not store above 30 ° C.
