What Cefzil ?
Cefzil (cefprozil) is a semisynthetic broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic.
What is this medicine?
Cefzil is used to treat patients with the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria cefprozil:
Infections of the upper respiratory tract, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis and otitis;
Infections of the lower respiratory tract, including acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia;
Infections of skin and soft tissue;
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute cystitis.
How is this medicine?
If your doctor advises otherwise, comply with the following dosage and method of administration:
Adults and children over 12 years
Cefzil is administered orally for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria susceptible to cefprozil in the following doses:
Pneumonia and bronchitis 500 mg per 12 hours
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis, 500 mg per 24 hours
Sinusitis 250 mg every 12 hours or 500 mg every 12 hours
Infections of skin and soft tissue infections 500 mg per 24 hours
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections 500 mg per 24 hours
Cefzil use in children aged between 6 months and 12 years. It is administered orally for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria cefprozil in the following doses:
Otitis 15-20 mg / kg every 12 hours
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis 20 mg / kg every 24 hours
Sinusitis 7,5-15 mg / kg every 12 hours
Infections of skin and soft tissue 20 mg / kg every 24 hours
The maximum daily infant dose should not exceed the recommended adult dose. In the treatment of B-hemolytic streptococcal infections, a therapeutic dosage Cefzil apply for 10 days. Safety and effectiveness in children under 6 months has not been established.
When you must not take Cefzil?
Cefzil is contraindicated in patients with allergy to cephalosporins.
What special precautions should I observe?
Before taking Cefzil:
Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Cefzil, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other drugs.
Tell your doctor if you are taking other medications (prescription or non-prescription), and especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants and vitamins.

The most common adverse reactions in patients treated with Cefzil are:
Gastrointestinal nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain

Tablets: cellulose ???????????????????????????, magnesium stearate, methylcellulose, simethicone, sodium starch glycolate, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, sorbic acid and thiamine dioxide.
Oral Suspension: aspartame, cellulose, citric acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, Sunset Yellow FCF, flavorings (natural and artificial), glycine, polysorbate 80, simethicone, sodium benzoate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium chloride and sucrose.
How should I store this medicine?
Cefzil table.: Store below 30 ° C.
Protect from moisture.
Cefzil ready suspension is stable 14 days when stored in a refrigerator at 2-8 ° C.
Any unused solution should be discarded after 14 days.
