Buscolisin 20 tablets
Buscolisin has a well-known antispasmodic (relaxing) effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, bile ducts, the genitourinary system. Buscolysin is used in the complex treatment of diseases accompanied by painful spasms of the smooth muscles of the stomach, intestines, bile ducts, the genitourinary system.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE BUSCOLISIN
Do not take Buskolizin
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the medicinal product;
- if you have glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure);
- if you have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness);
- if you have a megacolon (expanding and thickening the colon wall).
Take special care with Buskolizin
Ask your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism (thyroid disease), lung disease, severe liver or kidney disease, epilepsy (seizures), before you start treatment with Buskolizin. obstruction (ileus), mechanical obstruction in the course of the gastrointestinal tract, narrowing of the pylorus, gastroesophageal reflux disease;
(a condition in which the acidic gastric contents return back to the esophagus; achalasia (impaired esophageal motility), gastric ulcer medium and severe ulcerative colitis (severe inflammation of the colon), enlargement of the prostate with urinary retention .
Due to suppression of sweating, it should be used with caution at elevated temperatures.
Buscolysin can provoke glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure). Consultation with an eye doctor is required if eye pain and visual disturbances occur after administration of Buskolysin.
Buscolysin should be used with caution in individuals with xerostomia (dry mouth due to decreased or lack of salivary secretion), dry rhinitis (chronic inflammation of the nose with little or no secretion).
Additional warnings for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome
If any of the following warnings apply to you, consult your doctor before starting treatment with Buskolysin: over 40 years of age, vomiting or discomfort, decreased appetite or weight loss, severe constipation, presence of blood on defecation, abnormal vaginal bleeding or secretion, difficulty or painful urination, recent travel abroad.
Taking other medicines
Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. This includes plant products.
The effect of this medicine may be changed if you are taking: medicines for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, quinidine (antiarrhythmic agent), digoxin (cardiac glycoside), three- and four-cycle antidepressants (medicines for the treatment of depression), antipsychotics (for the treatment of psychoses) , anti-histamine (anti-allergic) agents, beta adrenomimetics (eg medicines for bronchial asthma such as clenbuterol, salbutamol, etc.), ketoconazole (a medicine for fungal infections), metoclopramide (used in vomiting), corticosteroids anti-acid medications (against acids), citrates.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
The use of the drug during pregnancy is not recommended, especially during the first 3 months. If you are pregnant, treatment with Buskolysin is only under medical supervision.
If you are breast-feeding, Buskolysin treatment is not recommended because part of the product is excreted in the breast milk and may also reduce milk secretion due to suppression of endocrine glands,
Driving and using machines
Buscolysin may cause temporary visual impairment with impaired close-up vision. Refrain from driving while your eyesight is normal.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Buskolizin
Buscolysin contains lactose and sucrose as excipients. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
The medicinal product contains an EEC colorant which may cause allergic reactions.
3. HOW TO TAKE BUSCOLISIN
If you are not sure how to take Buskolizin, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The tablets should be swallowed whole (fasting or before meals) with sufficient water.
The usual dose is:
Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 tablets 2-4 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg (8 tablets).
For the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, the recommended starting dose is 1 tablet 3 times a day. If necessary, this dose may be increased to 2 tablets 4 times daily.
Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet 3 times a day.
The use of Buskolysin in children under 6 years is not recommended
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Buskolisin can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rarely may occur: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, difficulty urinating, urinary retention, impaired vision, dilation of the pupils, increased intraocular pressure, suppression of the secretion of the lacrimal glands; tachycardia (accelerated heart rate), increase in blood pressure. Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity) can rarely occur, such as itching, rashes, hives, and very rarely, more severe, with episodes of shortness of breath and anaphylactic shock. Sometimes there is decreased sweating, dizziness, headache, nervousness, weakness, ataxia (impaired movement coordination). Rarely, agitation, insomnia, anxiety, hallucinations (especially in children and elderly patients) are possible.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. HOW TO STORE BUSCOLISIN
Store in the original package in a dry and light place at a temperature below 25 ° C.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Buskolysin after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Buskolisin contains
- The active substance is hyoscine butyl bromide 10 mg in one tablet.
- The other ingredients are:
Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, tartaric acid; cellulose, microcrystalline; sodium starch glycolate, talc, magnesium stearate.
Coating: talc, titanium dioxide, sucrose, gelatin, arabic gum, oplux yellow AS 22808 (El04, El 10, El71, El72, E211, sucrose, povidone), macrogol, glycerol.
