What is anastrozole ALVOGEN and what it is used
ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg film-coated tablets contain a substance called anastrozole . It belongs to a group of medicines called " aromatase inhibitors" .
ALVOGEN Anastrozole 1 mg tablets used for the treatment of breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause.
ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets works by reducing the amount of estrogen that your body produces . This is accomplished by blocking the natural substance ( enzyme) in the body, called " aromatase " .

2 . What you should know before taking anastrozole ALVOGEN
Do not take anastrozole ALVOGEN
If you are allergic to anastrozole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in Section 6) ;
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding (see section "Pregnancy and lactation " ) .
Do not take ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets if any of the above applies to you . If you are unsure , check with your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking anastrozole ALVOGEN 1 mg film-coated tablets.

Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking anastrozole :
If you still have menstrual periods and have not yet gone through menopause ;
If you are taking a medicine containing tamoxifen or medicines that contain estrogen ( see section "Taking other medicines") ;
If you have ever had a condition that affects the bones ( osteoporosis) ;
If you experience problems with their liver or kidneys.
If you are not sure if any of the above applies to you , talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you start taking anastrozole ALVOGEN 1 mg film-coated tablets.
If you are hospitalized , tell the medical staff there that ALVOGEN taking anastrozole 1 mg film-coated tablets.

Other medicines and anastrozole ALVOGEN
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking , have recently taken or might take other medicines.
Do not take ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets if you are already taking any of the following medicines:
Certain drugs used to treat breast cancer (selective estrogen receptor modulators ) , e.g. drugs containing tamoxifen . This is because these drugs can prevent ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets to work properly ;
Medicines that contain estrogen, such as hormone replacement therapy ( HRT) .
If this applies to you, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking the following products:
Medicine known as "LHRH analogue ." This includes gonadorelin , buserelin , goserelin , leuprorelin and triptorelin . These drugs are used to treat breast cancer , some women health states ( gynecological ) and infertility.
Pregnancy and lactation
Do not take anastrozole if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop taking anastrozole ALVOGEN 1 mg tablets if you become pregnant and talk to your doctor.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant , ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines
ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets are unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use tools or machines. Although it is possible that some people sometimes feel tired or sleepy while taking ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg film-coated tablets. If this occurs, consult your doctor for advice.

Anastrozole ALVOGEN contains lactose.
ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg film-coated tablets contain lactose which is a sugar . If you have been told by your doctor that you have intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

3 . How to take anastrozole ALVOGEN
Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose is one tablet once daily.
Try to take your tablets at the same time each day.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
No matter whether taking ALVOGEN Anastrozole 1 mg tablets before , during or after meals.
Keep taking anastrozole ALVOGEN 1 mg tablets as long as your doctor tells you . This is a long-term treatment and may need to take several years.

Use in children
ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets should not be given to children and adolescents.

If you take or use more dose anastrozole ALVOGEN
If you take more ALVOGEN anastrozole 1 mg tablets than you should immediately consult your doctor.

If you forget to take anastrozole ALVOGEN
If you forget to take a dose, just take your next dose as usual . Do not take a double dose ( two doses at the same time) to make up the missed dose.

If you stop taking anastrozole ALVOGEN
Do not stop taking your tablets unless Vvashiyat doctor tells you to do so.

4 . Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very common (affects more than 1 user in 10 ) ;
Common ( affects 1 in 100 , but less than 1 in 10) ;
Rare (affects more than 1 in 10, 000, but less than 1 in 1000 patients) ;
Very rare ( affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients).
Very common side effects:
headache ;
Hot flashes ;
Feeling sick (nausea) ;
Skin rash ;
Pain or stiffness ;
Inflammation of the joints ( arthritis ) ;
Sense of weakness ;
Bone loss ( osteoporosis) .
Common side effects:
Loss of appetite ;
Elevated or high levels of fatty substances known as cholesterol, in the blood. This can be detected by blood test ;
drowsiness;
Carpal tunnel syndrome ( tingling , pain, coldness , weakness in parts of the hand ) ;
diarrhea ;
Nausea ( vomiting);
Changes in blood tests that show how well the liver is working ;
Thinning of the hair ( hair loss) ;
Allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions involving the face, lips , or tongue ;
Bone pain ;
Vaginal dryness ;
Bleeding from the vagina ( usually within the first few weeks of treatment - if the bleeding persists, consult your doctor).
Rare side effects:
Changes in the results of specific blood tests that show how the liver (GGT and bilirubin) ;
Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) ;
Rash or hives ;
Trigger finger ( a condition in which a finger or thumb to stand in a bent position ) .
Rare side effects:
Rarely, inflammation of the skin, which may comprise red spots or blisters ;
Skin rash caused by hypersensitivity (this can be obtained as a result of allergic or anaphylactic reactions ) ;
Inflammation of the small blood vessels that cause red or purple coloration of the skin. Very rarely, you may experience symptoms in the joints , stomach and kidney pains , which is known as a disease - " Purpura of Shonlayn - Schonlein purpura ."
Very rare side effects:
Extremely severe skin reaction with ulcers or blisters on the skin. This is known as " Stevens -Johnson syndrome " ;
Allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions with the swelling of the throat , which may lead to difficulty in swallowing or breathing . This is known as " angioedema " .
If any of the above happens to you , call an ambulance or go to the doctor immediately - you may need urgent medical attention .

Effects on your bones
ALVOGEN Anastrozole 1 mg film-coated tablets reduce the amount of estrogen , which is in your body. This can reduce the mineral content of the bone . Your bones can become brittle and more prone to fracture. Your doctor will monitor these risks in accordance with the guidelines for the treatment of bone health in women who have undergone menopause. You should talk to your doctor about the risks and treatment options.

If you get any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. This includes all listed in this leaflet .

5 . How to store anastrozole ALVOGEN
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton after " EXP " . The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

The active substance is anastrozole .
The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate , sodium starch glycolate, povidone, magnesium stearate , hypromellose , titanium dioxide ( E 171 ) , macrogol 400 .
