Alventa WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR ?
Alventa is an antidepressant of the group of medicines called inhibitors of the reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline (SNRI) , and is used to treat the symptoms of depression.
Alventa is indicated for the treatment of severe and persistent anxiety, known as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
Alventa is also indicated for the treatment of social anxiety disorder / social phobia ( prolonged and excessive fear of being criticized and convicted of a thing) .

2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE Alventa
Do not start treatment with Alvent if: you are allergic (hypersensitive) to venlafaxine or any of the excipients of Alvent ;
- Are taking or have recently taken (within the last two weeks ) other types of antidepressants known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI, as izikarboksazid , phenelzine , tranylcypromine , moclobemide ) . Moreover, you should not take monoamine oxidase inhibitor 7 days after you stop taking venlafaxine .

Take special care when taking Alventa
- In children and adolescents under 18 years: usually venlafaxine should not be given to children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

- If you have high or low blood pressure , as Alvent can cause changes in your blood pressure . Your doctor may decide to regularly monitor your blood pressure,
- If redness , rash or any other allergic reactions. If these symptoms occur , stop taking Alvent and tell your doctor .
Suicidal thoughts or worsening of your depression or anxiety disorder.
If you have depression and / or anxiety disorders may occasionally think to hurt or kill yourself . This may be more pronounced in the original starting
treatment with antidepressants, since these medicines they need time to start to work, usually about two weeks but sometimes longer.
You may be more likely to think like this:
- If you have previously also had thoughts about killing or harming yourself if you are a young person. Although Alventa not lead to dependency, abrupt discontinuation may cause any of the following side effects if you are taking Alvent longer than a week : nausea and / or vomiting , dizziness , numbness , feeling that you get a shot from current sleep problems , restless sleep , visual disturbances , agitation or anxiety , increased sensitivity , emotional instability , tremor , confusion, increased sweating , headache, diarrhea , palpitations ( abnormal sensation of your heartbeat ) and irregular heart beat . Alvent rarely causes little change in cholesterol levels in the blood. Therefore , your doctor may decide that you hold an additional blood test , especially if you are taking Alvent long time.

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines , including medicines obtained without a prescription , and herbal products.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you :
- Taking or have recently taken any other antidepressant drugs , especially those known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) ( see also "Do not take Alvent ")
- Taking cimetidine (a medicine for stomach) and are elderly or have a liver problem as cimetidine may enhance the effects of Alvent and may require adjustment .
- Are taking medicines that affect serotonin levels ( a substance in the brain that affect your mood) as triptans (used to treat migraine) or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors
- Taking indinavir ( medicine with antiviral activity ) , as the effect of indinavir may decrease ,
- Taking warfarin ( blood thinning ) ; Your doctor may decide • to test your blood
- Take haloperidol, as the effect of haloperidol and venlafaxine may be enhanced
- Are taking clozapine or risperidone (with mental illness) , as the effect of clozapine or risperidone can be strengthened
- Regularly taking pain medicines such as derivatives of acetylsalicylic acid (eg aspirin) and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory / antirheumatic drugs (NSAIDs) or low platelet count , as this may increase the risk of bleeding
- If you held electroshock therapy ( ECT )
- If you are using dietary products like phentermine, since no concomitant use of venlafaxine and medicinal products for weight loss
- Are taking ketoconazole or itraconazole ( medicines for the treatment of fungal infections), ritonavir ( for treatment of HIF infections ) because the effects of venlafaxine can be enhanced ,
- Are taking medicines that suppress certain liver enzymes such as quinidine (used to treat certain types of heart disease ) , paroxetine, fluoxetine (used to treat depression), and perphenazine (used to treat psychosis and mood changes )
- Taking metoprolol (used to treat high blood pressure or certain types of heart disease ) .

Taking Alvent with food and drink
Take Alvent to drink water after a meal.
Like all medicines that affect the central nervous system , you should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Alvent .

Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor before taking any medicine.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

3 . HOW TO TAKE Alventa ?
Always take Alvent as prescribed by your doctor. If you are not sure , you should consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual starting dose is one 75 mg capsule daily at approximately the same time every day, morning or evening. It is possible , however, your doctor may decide that you better not take another dose . Your doctor may increase the dose of 150 mg, 225 mg or 375 mg daily. If you suffer from kidney problems or if you have liver problems , your doctor will prescribe a low dose .
Swallow the capsules whole with water drink after a meal. Do not break , crush, crush or chew the capsules.
For oral use .

The recommended dose is 75 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 150 mg once daily , and subsequently to the maximum dose of 225 mg, with intervals of at least 4 days between each increase .
Decision to discontinue treatment should be taken by your doctor.

If you take more Alventa, than you should
If you take more Alvent than you should immediately contact your doctor or the emergency room of the nearest hospital . Take the container with you. The most likely symptoms of overdose are disorientation , persistent drowsiness, fast heart rate and a slight decrease or increase in blood pressure.
Symptoms reported with overdosage are changes in the level of consciousness (from somnolence to coma ), agitation , vomiting , diarrhea, fever, rapid or irregular heartbeat, heart rate reduction , decrease or increase in blood pressure and seizures .

If you forget to take Alventa
If you forget to take a dose , take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose , skip the missed dose and continue taking this medicine as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose, just take the next dose as usual.

If you stop taking Alventa
Do not stop taking your capsules without first consulting your doctor even if you feel better. If your doctor determines that you do not need more than Alvent , it will make you reduce the dose before completely stop treatment . If Alvent stop suddenly or the dose is reduced more rapidly in some patients may develop symptoms such as increased fatigue , visual disturbances , agitation or anxiety , irritability, emotional instability , tremor, dizziness , headache, trouble sleeping , dry mouth , feeling of nausea and exhaustion , diarrhea, fussy , confusion , numbness , and increased sweating . 4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Alvent can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .

Increase in cholesterol in your blood (especially when taking your medicine for a long time or taking high doses ) , weight reduction ,
- Difficulty sleeping or drowsiness, fussy , aggressive , restless dreams, dizziness, weird feeling on the skin as " pins and needles " (" tingling " ) or burning , drowsiness , involuntary twitching movements
- Blurred or abnormal vision
- High blood pressure, hot flushes,
- yawning
- Change in appetite, constipation, nausea, indigestion , vomiting , impaired nutrition (anorexia ), dry mouth
- Increased sweating (including night sweats )
- Difficulty in urination or feeling the need to go to the bathroom more often than usual
- Changes in sexual function , and abnormal ejaculation in men , decreased libido , impotence , lack of orgasm in men
- Unusual tiredness or weakness , headache,
- Frequent or unusual bruises on the body.

Uncommon:
- Low levels of sodium in the blood , weight gain ,
- Lack of emotion or enthusiasm , hallucinations , anxiety,
- Muscle cramps,
- Ringing in the ears (tinnitus )
- Fast or irregular heart beat ,
- Lowering blood pressure , feeling dizzy , fainting,
- Clenching or grinding teeth ( bruxism ) , change in sense of taste , diarrhea,
- Altered liver function tests ,
- Inflammation of the skin ( dermatitis) , unusual hair loss, redness,
- Difficulty urinating,
- Menstrual disorders, orgasm in women
- Increased sensitivity of your skin to sunlight .

rare:
- Prolongation of bleeding, unusual bleeding (such as nosebleeds) , decreased platelet count ,
