What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a thinning and weakening of bones. This is often seen in women after menopause. - Have kidney problems you have any allergies

Certain drugs for rheumatism or long-term treatment of pain (e.g., aspirin or ibuprofen) can cause gastrointestinal irritation . As the use of NSAIDs is associated with gastrointestinal irritation, caution in concomitant use with alendronate.

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines , including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Taking alendronate 70 mg Actavis with food and drink

Children and adolescents

Pregnancy and lactation

Driving and using machines

Actavis 70 mg alendronate contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine .

3 . HOW to take alendronate Actavis 70 mg?
Always take your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. You should check with your doctor if you are unsure.

Take one tablet 70 mg Alendronate Actavis once a week.

Follow these instructions carefully to be sure that you will benefit from Actavis Alendronate 70 mg.

1. Choose one day of the week that best fits into your schedule. Every week, take one tablet 70 mg Alendronate Actavis in your chosen day.

It is very important to follow the instructions 2, 3 , 4 and 5 to help end this way Alendronate tablet Actavis 70 mg to reach your stomach quickly and help reduce the possibility of irritation of your esophagus (esophagus - the tube that connects your mouth with your stomach ) .

6 . After swallowing the tablet Alendronate Actavis 70 mg, wait at least

30 minutes before you take food, drink , or other medicine of the day , including drugs such as antacids , calcium supplements and vitamins. Actavis 70 mg alendronate was effective only in case it is taken on an empty stomach.

If you take more Alendronate Actavis 70 mg, than you should

If you take too many tablets by mistake , drink a full glass of milk and contact your doctor immediately. Do not try to induce vomiting alone, and do not lie down .
Symptoms of overdose may include adverse reactions of the upper gastrointestinal tract , such as upset stomach , heartburn , reflux oesophagitis , gastritis or ulcer .

If you forget to take Alendronate 70 mg Actavis

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines Actavis Alendronate 70 mg, may cause side effects , although not everybody gets them.

Finding in laboratory tests : mild and transient decreases the level of calcium and phosphate in the blood , generally within the normal range.

Unusual hip fractures may occur frequently, especially in patients undergoing long-term treatment of osteoporosis. Contact your doctor if you experience pain, weakness or discomfort in the thigh , hip or groin as this may be an early indication of a possible fracture of the femur .

5 . HOW TO STORE ALENDRONATE Actavis 70 mg?

Keep out of reach of children.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions .
Do not take Alendronate Actavis 70 mg, after the expiry date which is printed on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste . Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that you do not need more. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What does Aktavns Alendronate 70 mg?

The active ingredient is 91,36 mg sodium alendronate trihydrate, which amount is equivalent to 70 mg alendronic acid per tablet .

Other ingredients ( excipients ) are: cellactose 80 (lactose monohydrate and cellulose powder) ; silica colloidal anhydrous ( E551 ) ; croscarmellose sodium ( magnesium stearate ( E470b ) .
